If you've lived in or visited Forsyth County, Georgia for any length of time, and you're into boating or fishing Lake Lanier, you've probably run across the name of Young Deer, in the form of a boat park, or the name Tidwell. Young Deer was born in the 1820's and was a native of Forsyth County and full blooded member of the Cherokee Nation, whose headquarters were located in the Forsyth area before it was relocated later at New Echota, now Calhoun. Young Deer left Forsyth County around the same time that the Cherokee moved their hub, and relocated to Allatoona Town with his young wife. There he settled, becoming a part of the pioneer community, leaving a legacy that lasts even today. His remains are buried at the secluded Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery on Red Top Mountain, where his grave is still tended today.

The oldest cemetery in the country is in Duxbury MA, if you guys want to make a ride. It's maintained really well and would be worth your while

Thanks so much for the suggestion. We're hoping to get up to MA this year. It was on the list for 2023 but illness in the family and work got in the way of all our plans! Crossing our fingers that this year is better! Thank you so much for watching!

Thank you so much for watching! I have a binge day planned to catch up on y'alls videos. I'm working three different side hustles right now so I haven't had much down time to watch my people. Can't wait to see the latest on that house y'all visited!❤

That is so cool. Although the green bridge made me sad. I hate they tore down the two between here and Gainesville

I miss them too. No idea why they felt the need to take them all out.

keep trying! It took her forever to get the hang of it and get the first one made, but she stuck with it!

Once you cross the old steel bridge over Allatoona, going toward Red Top Mountain from Downtown Emerson, you'll go around a curve, after the curve, in the straight-away, there's a pull off on the right. The gate is up there in the pull off. You walk straight from there. It's a pretty short, easy walk! The GPS will take you right to the pull off but it's not marked by the road, so you have to look for it.
