This was my go to for drill beats when I was a beginner. If you wanna make melodies you should just learn music theory so you know what to do. I’m not that good at it but I’m better than I was when I started and it does help

I’m gone be real with you. That Chord progression been the secret sauce of Atlanta for a long time … KE had another variation during the futuristic movement in 08 starting with C Major. Atlanta producers is really just one LARGE FAMILY TREE. I’d say the top branch would be Shawty Red / Zaytoven then it branches off to K.E. , Spinz , Lex Luger , Sonny Digital , Metro , 808, etc

The lex luger progression was always phrygian i - II (c minor > c# major), this one gets used in a similar way since its two simple chords as the backbone of the song but definitely a different sound

There is nothing particularly "Metroish" about this progression and it's used by a ton of different producers and artists in different genres. Metro usually uses the natural minor scale, yes, but what really makes him special is his crispy clean sound and layered, dark melodies.
