Hi all, I wanted to give a (hopefully) final update on the Discord situation. Sir Melee has been spending most of today working to clean up the server of unacceptable behavior and the users responsible for such activity. Throughout, he has been messaging me to keep me up to date with what/who has been removed, the tightening up of AutoMod, as well as verifying the legitimacy of certain claims. It is clear to me that Sir Melee feels tremendous remorse for what has happened in his server. As a fellow content creator, I am sympathetic to the idea of leaning on others to upkeep community discussions and keep things in line. This appears to be a case of trusting the wrong people, and I think he is hurt more than anybody else by this situation. Sir Melee appears wholly and sincerely committed to his server being a place that is supportive and healthy for discussion. I hope the community can offer him some grace as we all try to do our best as we move forward.
@@kaijucanuck4492 I'm really disappointed with how you have handled this situation. I have known melee for a few years now and does not deserve any of this. You have no idea how much damage this video has caused to his reputation. You could have easily addressed this situation to him in private and left it at that. Even after Melee worked very hard to fix the problem, you insist on keeping this video up because of course drama gets you views at HIS expense. If you truly care about the situation, you'll private or delete this video and apologize to Melee for handling this situation so poorly.

I’m never surprised to find out stuff like this happens among weird niche fandoms, but I’m always a little disappointed. On the plus side, I guess you know you’ve made it when people you’ve never heard of are obsessing over you in a space where you never occupy in the first place. The internet has made it very easy for people to show themselves for exactly who they are, warts and all. I’ve been rocking with your channel since pretty early on, I don’t know how people could be SO opposed to what you’re doing. Even if you have a different opinion on a figure or a part of collecting, it’s just that - collectors have different opinions all the time, I didn’t know that was such a controversy. Anyway, yeah - keep doing your thing, man. Twice as much Super7 and SHMA stuff in the future would get twice the views from me haha
12:45 Mr. Canuck, I've watched your video a few times now, at the same time getting information from SirMelee and other members of his discord, and although I do agree with everything that has been said in this video, I feel like saying the entire server is a problem is... unjustified. As with everything that causes drama, it is a small minority of people who bring attention and a bad image of the community at large. With that being said, however, I do agree with the major points you've laid out. From my, admittedly limited, understanding of the situation, the incident has been or is being resolved. I've been speaking with Sir Melee for the past several hours as he's been cleaning up the server. Sorry, but an environment in which people freely say "dirty Indians" and derogatory terms for black people is NOT a good space, and Sir Melee agrees with me.
@kaijucanuck4492 I'm not disagreeing with you. Such an environment is not a good place for anyone. I'm just saying, as a person who's been a member of SirMelee's server for the last year and half and who hasn't made any insensitive comments (to my knowledge), being grouped with a minority who actively brings down the rest of the community is... I'm sure you can understand where I'm coming from. Not all of us are in this, as I've said. It's a small minority who is ruining our image.
I joined that server because I thought I would find a community centered around Godzilla BL, but left when I realized several of the people were toxic kiddies, and people straight out saying it made him happy to be a figure grifter/reseller making money out of "idiots and cucks", it's a shame Sir melee actually makes fun GBL vids

I’ve been in that server for a little bit, I never really talk in it and i only really pay attention to one specific channel (ideas for a Godzilla game) and I never knew this happened, I’m very disappointed in this server now. These people never show up on RU-vid, or at least not from what I’ve seen. Melee needs to step it up
That's unfortunate. I don't think Godzilla fandom is any more or less toxic than others. There's some really awesome people I've been able to meet and spend time with,and some immature jerks as well. YOU hav an awesome channel,and I appreciate your insights and your professnialism as well. Keep on doing what you are doing..it's appreciated.ore than you know. Internet safety is so bad these days, I remember growing up and being told to not even use your real name or post pics of yorselves online yet these days its like parents arent even parenting these days.

Loved what you said in this video. It got me thinking when you said, "you only need to win the shit lottery once to ruin your life" because the gaming community I used to be in (Paladins) has a massive player base within the community that would say and do such things that you described in this video. Because of the nature of these people within the community I used to reside I made meme videos about them making fun of the dumb foolery things they would say/do both in game and in paladins discord servers (which was anything from regular game tilt/hypocritical statements to using slurs and such). Though why that quote got me thinking about this is because part of me feels like these videos of me making fun of them could end up make me win the shit lottery if the wrong person watches one of those videos and sees it as me promoting such horrible sayings and actions instead of a satirical laugh at degenerate and hypocritical comments. I guess what I'm trying to get at the best way to not win the shit lottery is to not have ties to a "shit lottery" whatsoever like you mentioned with the fire exit comment
Doing this in real life and making edgy jokes with your best friends IRL is different(which I sometimes do but not a lot.), they know your joking and you wont do it. Doing it online is WAY different. You dont know whos gonna take it seriously and ruin your life, its just not worth it for both parties. I understand its a joke but its literally a situation where you could lose everything.
There are a lot more calm rational people in the Godzilla community than people think. It's to bad that for a lot of new fans coming in all they see are these types of people.

It’s videos like this that make me happy I found your channel. As an active member in the lego Star Wars community it’s nice to see a mature and level headed take on drama.
Sometimes I'm thankful I'm not well known enough to get this type of stuff (to my knowledge lol), but the fact that elements of this fandom are like this is quite disturbing.
Hence why I have a zero tolerance for bad apples on all my socials my guy. I deal enough with fools on Twitch and Twitter, I applaud the efforts of the community in working towards bettering it.

My brother is new to the fandom and he believes in just loving your heroes without the extra friends that would eventually stab you in the back and based on my other brothers experience in the Star Wars fandom. He thinks that there are those that are purposely trying to sabotage the fandom for the sake of making the Godzilla fanbase look bad! Why? I honestly don't know, but we are living in a time where we have keyboard warriors talking crap, trolls and those that cowardly like to remain anonymous.. whatever the case may be it's not the characters fault we just have bad apples in the Godzilla community

I think it would be a move of good grace towards melee that the final update that you put in twitter would be in any capacity linked in this video, ending the situation. Cause the end of this video lefts a bad taste that the problem hasn't been aknowledged nor corrected as fast as it could be done. I'm suscribed to your channel, I watch all videos you post (when I have time) and I like the way you defend your opinions about the figures, kaiju, etc, and and the same time, I've been in this server for years (not all the time but every now a then to watch gbl news, builds, make some suggestions, helping here and there, but never seen bad behaviour at this level, nor gonna deny it of course, this was unnaceptable and you have all the right to denounce it cause they say nasty things at your person), but I think both communities vibe at the same pace. So..yeah, it's fine if you do nothing, at the end of the day it's your channel, just letting you know my feelings about this mess, peace 😊

Melee is a great person and these actions were made by a very small group of people within his discord. The person you mentioned, swag gigan admitted on twitter/x to being banned from the discord a long time ago and alluded to wanting to ruin the discord. Melee and the mods are actively cleaning up and enforcing policies. With that being said, I've never heard of you prior to today but will check out a few videos.
I didn’t like you at first mainly because how soft you seem on toy companies, but after interacting with you on the Titanic Creations server you seem pretty cool and chill, that being said it’s definitely sad that some people take their dislike to extreme levels as you showcased here.

It genuinely disgusts me that there are some people in this community that act like this. I love Godzilla and there are some really nice, kind people in the Fandom that I know of, but there are always going to be people that ruin the fun. I don't have an issue with disagreement, I never hated you or any of the boys from the stream personally. I do have some dislikes with how you all argued your points sometimes. Like only highlighting the bad way of "criticism" as if it's the only way ppl criticize SHMA (yes, you didn't say explicitly that it's the only kind, but it does came out that way given that not once the constructive comments were acknowledged), or laughing at any of them as being children who couldn't afford it or any other condescending remarks. Harold just got criticized over this way of responding to the community the other day. Granted, some of the comments aren't constructive, but his response is no better and is rather condescending. It makes me kinda wonder sometimes how all of you and Steven are that much different, just feel like two sides of the same coin. Same goes for the community, the "children" of Hiya also exist in SHMA, or the "children" of Monsterverse also exist in Toho. I myself had encountered it when I gave an argument how Hiya's Shimo is more to-scale than SHMA, if using an official stats instead of the inconsistent on-screen look. I also do get response that aren't really giving any counter-arguments, just as how Hiya fans seems to be seen when reacting to SHMA. And there's also times when I kinda wondered what "constructive criticism" meant by Mike is, given that all things that are open for criticism (and yes, including how one should and must word it) are actually not, or is something you couldn't criticize cuz of A, B, C, etc. So I kinda could see why some ppl would considered you and the rest kind of an SHMA defender. Maybe it's not the arguments per se, but also the wordings of it. Cuz it is a saying, right? That, it's not what you said but how you said it. And I think sometimes it does leave a bad taste. But of course I continue to listen cuz it is in my field to learn and understand a different opinion, to then argued my points in a civilized manner. Tho I do personally enjoy knowing different sides of the story, cuz it broadened my ways of understanding others. I truly feel sorry that this happened to you. I'm not remotely surprised at this. Godzilla fandom is toxic... Not the most toxic I've ever been involved with/chased out of with torches and pitchforks, but it's certainly up there. I was practically banned from one community because I had the temerity to 1) like Shin-Gojira, and 2) like King Kong. GvK was the holy war for people whose religion is Godzilla. Where I differ from Donny, Kim, etc. is that I don't think fandoms are worth saving, just on principle 😆 Just like what you like, maybe subscribe to a few RU-vidrs or whatever whose content you like, and spend the rest of the time nurturing real life relationships. If you want community, join a church or something.
