I get a lot of questions about how thick of leather my Cobra Class 26 sewing machine will sew through. Here is an example of it easily sewing through THREE pieces of 9/10oz Hermann Oak veg tan leather. Now, I have never worked on a project where the total thickness was this great. This machine handled it very well; however, I would not recommend putting it through this much stress very often. The machine would probably be okay, but you run the risk of breaking needles or potentially altering the timing of the machine. It is meant to be more of a medium to small duty machine. I typically run anywhere from a single 2/3oz piece up to two layers of 9/10oz pieces on it. It can sew heavy projects, but if you are needing a machine to constantly sew heavy work, then you might consider the Cobra Class 3 or Class 4. Overall, the Class 26 is probably the most well rounded machine in the Cobra lineup, and if you are mainly working on small to medium sized projects then I would highly recommend it!
