This Ship Makes No Sense at Tier VII | World of Warships: Legends 

Imagine paying $80 for a ship only for it to get nerfed or Tiered Up later on..the fact that WG left a legal door open for this means they will 100% do it at some point

The range of 5 and 6 inch cruiser guns in this game don't make sense either.i don't think they should be able to out range 16 inch guns.

Not going to say I didn’t see the writing on the walls when they announced the new stance on adding the disclaimer that they would be more inclined to adjust new over performing premium ships. I see this as the new norm, from what I’ve heard it’s already common practice on pc, release new op ship so that it’s sales are boosted by people wanting to play an op ship, and then after it’s been put a few months and sales fall off they balance it and then rinse repeat with something else.

Balancing needs to be done from data acquired on the average Joe, not Unicums.

It's funny how they added T8 to separate T7 from LT. Then they add Mushasi AKA Yamato lite and Plymouth AKA Minotaur 🙄

All that is happening is this game is shifting to the WOT model that has been going on for years. Sell OP ship , preferably at a money making tier. In an update or two once sales drop off then nerf it. It's gonna happen you watch.

They still fail to test ships properly after the weimar debacle.

From a basic comparison to Edinburgh, the reload should be higher(it has more guns and a better reload than Ed) doesn't make sense? The radar should be the same as Ed, so 9 km and 30 secs. With the stats currently it could have been a great tier 8.

Actually, Graf Zeppelin was the first T7 for sale in store.

Money is why. Look at our games cost trend since January, everything is getting more expensive in credits cost. Elbing was shoved down to Tier8 and it's crazy strong as well.

From what I've seen people are too trigger happy right now, 8/10 times I've seen a Plymouth (whether on my team or the other team) it's been deleted within the first three minutes, the remaining two are a mixed bag of overly cautious or knowing how to play the ship. She's a bigger badder Fiji and I see enough people mess up playing that to know they can't figure out the bigger sister. Radar is only viable if you're divisioned up or have a lot of faith in your blueberry destroyers (I guess the right circumstances on a heavy island map works too, but defeats the point of a stealth radar half the time). Plymouth is great at tearing holes in broadside ships but gets more technical the moment they start angling (as with any RN light cruiser), I wouldn't call her OP, but capable. I could see her being moved up to tier 8 and be fine with that, but my main gripe is with how sad Belfast '43 looks in comparison (the buff was needed, but I'm not sure it was enough considering Plymouth's base reload is better than a reload focused B43). I'd hate to see this ship at L tier as she doesn't really compare to Minotaur in any aspect other than likelihood of getting dev struck. Give Des Moines her radar back and have Plymouth take after the Edinburgh's and you got yourself a "counter play" situation as well.

On the topic of Iowa feeling jarring at its line, all they need to do is swap Kansas and Iowa in the line and bam fixed. They're the same tier and would make so much more since. Also there should of been 8-9 tiers to start and legendary should have been PCs super ships without the broken gimmicks. Would of been easier honestly, have a wider variety of ships and so on. Plus now if they wanna add the super ships they'd be in legendary and feel to strong like Jean Bart at tier 7does. The only one I'd ever see them change would be the first one I mentioned but they prob won't due to ppl grinding the line blah blah blah, as if a BB main isn't already grinding both lines already, just swap em and make it feel less jarring and actually be a more fast BB line and a dreadnaught line.

Glad you called it like you see it. So many CCs have said it's strong but not OP. Best DPM at tier, best concealment, best utility (best radar and ability to hunt DDs), has torps. 100% expect this to get nerfed.

This ship should be at least T8. Good thing most players i find using her are broadside to shoot all guns. That usually helps solve the problem. If I ever get this ship,bwill definitly be in a sale or crate. GG.

Got a thumbs-up from me since you basically said everything about this ship I was thinking. A DM radar at T7 AND best DPM at the tier? Yikes! The nature of this game necessitates adding new ships/features to the game, but I play games to have fun and experience cool things first and foremost. It's harder to have fun and avoid becoming frustrated when coming up against ships like this where the argument can be made that it's overcooked and can smack you sideways WAY easier than you can do to it (Unless in a battleship I guess)

I think the Plymouth should have been a premium tier 8 at least. It would help fill up the lack of tier 8 ships and goes right in the middle.

I don't think its as op as the og weimar but it could probably use some tweaking. I would personaly switch the radars with belfast 43 and increase the base reload by 1sec.

If a player mispositions this ship, and BAM! (Light cruiser, no armor, no HE)

I just think it was a mistake for them to try and be clever and do only 7 tiers. I think it kinda threw everything off no matter how much you tweak things. It just feels off. I also wish they’d move the spawns way back.

Plymouth's lack of armor is its balancing factor.

I think if we are going to offer extended radar to ships the counter should be costing you a mod slot in number 3. That way you’re deciding for a long duration on a radar or concealment/RGA/steering gears.

They are going to uptier this ship ij the future, i still prefer the Edinburgh over this ship.

You can stealth radar with the edimburgh for free. And guess what...you have a better hull. 8.8 concealement, radar 9km 30s sonar, 6s rudder, 12 150 mm, 10 km torps. The best combination is: john jellicoe, mikawa, swirski, concealement mod. Plymouth can safely stay in the store. Best regards

I don’t have this ship and won’t bother at the price point, but this ship isn’t OP. That republic at the start of this video was sailing broadside, any rapid fire ship would have done the same to it, be in Mainz, mino, Worcester etc. You sneeze at the Plymouth and it explodes. I’ve seen plenty of them since launch and nearly all of them are gone inside of 5 minutes. The one that did really well was a game with TommyBoy (cc) and he somehow survived with a slither of health and scored around 2900xp in that match. I have no issues with this ship, if they were to nerf it, I’m thinking simply add 1 second to reload even then I dont think it needs it. Good players will be beastly with it, 99% of players in this game aren’t capable of that.

On PC it gets slapped around lol and the tiering is a mess on console some ships from 9 going up against other ships ehhh

I had thought that Plymouth was going to be a T8 ship, but it's not OP with my aggressive playstyle. I use it to hunt destroyers and she works well for that. Of course it is often the case that my teammates don't share my zeal for combat and I'm generally blapped before the end of the match, but if I get 'dem DDs sunk that's fine by me. Gets pretty old hearing that any good ship is OP...some ships should be better than others as is the case irl. Love the channel but disagree with you on this one...enjoyed watching!

I agree that the ship is too strong for its tier. Just has too many strong points to justify her current placement at tier 7. I don't think however that she needs to go up to legendary tier. Sure, she's tier 10 on PC but she's a mediocre tier 10 at best and doesn't come close to the Minotaur in raw dpm. She's a Town class cruiser- of which we have 3 others in the game. The Belfast sits nicely at tier 6, the Belfast '43 and Edinburgh at tier 7, and then this one which is stronger than '43 and Edinburgh should be bumped up to tier 8. I feel she would slot perfectly into tier 8 almost exactly how she is- give her just a tad more health or gun range and tier 8 would have another good addition.

Personally, I agree it's a little too strong for T7. It's a superior Fiji with 50% faster reload and 25% more guns, only a tier higher, plus radar. I think WG had planned to sell it as a premium, but weren't willing to sell as a T8 premium. So we end up with what is effectively a T8 sold as a T7. WG left it open with the new "we are allowed to nerf premiums" disclaimer. But I do feel it's a problem of their own making.

This just shows that WG does 0 testing before puting ships on sales , but no problem it will be a tier 8 in 8-10 months and everyone will be happy .

Makes sense it’s overpowered for tier 7. On the PC it is a tier 10. Most tier 10 brought over are sent to Legendary tier.

It baffles me that this game wasnt shot down when they said "were gonna have only 7 tiers instead of 10" Whoevers idea it was should never work in game design again.

Regardless of whether it's overpowered or not (in my opinion it seems a bit strong), it makes zero sense for this to be a tier-7 ship. It's an Edinburgh with 33% more firepower (4 additional main guns). The Edinburgh is already a solid performer at tier-7, and the tech tree ships should represent solid benchmarks for what each tier is "supposed" to be. So if Edinburgh is tier-7, then the Plymouth has to be at least one tier higher.

They placed Plymouth at T7 because they wanted to sell another ship for 17.5k doubloons.

Yeah sure her dpm is high but the price for that is being really squishy where she can be overmatched in every angle and don't forget about anti air guns, they aren't really good. Even at stern or bow angle her citadel can be accessed by heavy cruisers and battleships. So I think she fits fine as she is on tier 7. Also going for stealth radar built is too risky for Plymouth so most of the players will go for smoke.

Does anyone else agree that Cruisers are moving from being DD hunters to being BB hunters? So many games I have played lately the Cruisers just sit back behind Islands spamming the BB's and the BB's are caught between sitting back and getting smashed or moving up to get to the Cruisers and then getting slammed with Torps. The balance of the game is drifting to an arms race - your opponent buys a better ship so you need to buy a better ship to counter. And it's working - just look at how many of the buy outright ships are in game right now. Granted there are some really good players who can make your life misery with whatever they are playing. But in general the balance of the game is off. I played a game recently with 8 Shima's - there was at one point 120 torp's flying around - I was the last one standing on my team (in a BB) versus 3 DD's - lasted about 2 minutes dodging torp's from invisible DD's. And not many of the games I have played recently have gone down to the wire - it's usually 6 vs 1 at the end. Not really enjoying the game anymore. Just plain greed from the developers.

All tier 7 ships available via dub purchase: AL Boltimore, AL Monty, Massachusetts B, Graf Zeppelin, Wichita, Plymouth. She isnt over powered, her stats on paper are good but as always it depends on the player and how they use her.

I just wish they did a full port of PC version at this point tbh. Acct and everything. I feel like they treated console players like a bunch of basic simpletons. PC has WAY more buttons than console, therefore… we need less players, less tiers, less ships, less events and promos, simple one path commanders, less signal flags, less everything. This game feels more like a Google play store game in 2023.

Belfast '43 is better tbh

It makes perfect sense for Wargaming...release an insane OP ship to encourage people to spend money. As soon as the cash flow dries up it will be move to T8, outright nerfed or the game mechanics changed to she is average and she is replaced in the store by another insane OP ship.

Its a strong ship but it's not OP when tier 8 settles in place it will balance out better its fun no one complains about the minotaur and I have never seen all the shells get citadel on the most broadside ship

The trade off for the high dpm is a glass hull of the Plymouth that can cause death strike from many angles from many ships. In the hands of a highly skilled player who understands awareness and uses the mini map can make any ship overpowered. lts the skill set of players like the CC's that can make ships like the Plymouth over powered not regularly casual players.

Ship is easy as hell to counter. You're playing potatoes and shitting on them, it isn't the ship that's winning, it's the player.

I must admit every time i see this ship i make it my business to remove it asap. Unless im in a dd, then i just sit down in a corner and start rocking.

It's funny to see a T10 in the PC version be a T7 on console. I can understand it being super op in console as in PC in the right hands right game mode it is op at T10 on PC.

Survivability is a joke, stops slower than your average kurfurst, horrible guns angles, AP only means no DOT damage and once the enemy bows in you are screwed. So OP that your average BB main deletes 90% of your HP while you are running away.....on PC belfast makes plymouth its bitch.

I feel disappointed to be honest, 2 very unique tier X ships, with it own gimmicks (Elbing and Republique) turn into tier VIII, and worst of all, made into premiums wich means they will not return to the game for a long time And the same goes to the Plymouth

Lots of guns yes but they’re small and do very little damage. I’ve seen videos, this ship sucks not worth the price. Hell none of these ships are worth the price.

I do not agree with you on this at all.Yes it can in some situations seems strong but compared to Mainz or Belfast 43 it has not the speed rudder or armor to deal with them consistanley.16 guns on some builds will be powerfull but any hit from a BB you are almost gone everytime.What bothers me more is this first week extensiv OP discussions it hurts more then give accurate answer to the question over time.WG do not know how to handle balance in the game because they do not play the ships and to be very clear they only choose supertesters that are scared shitless of stating anything wrong so in no way give them stats to correct and to be fair to the supertesters I found when I was one at WOT console WG do not pay attention to the actuall findings anyway so all in all .A good ship but not OP.One example of the crisis we are in with the game is the Kleber VS Shimakaze debackle there you have a clear example of the balance in game.Moreover the game is 3 year in developmeant and the buggs are still all over the place why that is not talked about on every RU-vid channel is beyond my understanding all is about OP or UP that is crazy.I respect you Xarkun I watch your content all the time you are reasonable and doing a good choice mostley but this time the only thing I agree upon is that Tier VIII would be a better place but then it needs better armor.BTW Des Moines did not deserve a nerf.Legendary balance is all over the place so is Tier VIII.

I think at minimum, Plymouth should be Tier 8, although there is certainly a good argument to be made that it should be Legendary Tier. I see no justification for it being T7. It should be remembered that as a T7 ship, it will regularly face T6 ships, which is ridiculous.

Y’all crying over something that 1. Hasn’t even happened yet 2. Isn’t even the best ship in its class at the tier and 3. Breaks away from the HE meta Y’all should be singing this ships praises as we finally get a competitive British cruiser that’s fun to play.

I can practically sense your frustration when you start doing the forced back and forth comparisons between Legends and PC. When WG fails at basic balancing and thus tier placement when they introduce a ship to Legends, by all means call them out. But your argument would be stronger if it focused on the issues it causes in the Legends environment alone instead of getting twisted up with largely irrelevant PC comparisons. Like it or not, WG created a separation between the games from the start to give themselves room to manage Legends as it's own entity. How a ship fits in the PC world really doesn't matter here.

Who will pay 60€ for a class 8 Tier? its easier toll sell a super tier 7 ship than an average tier 8 ship. I have bought it for that reason. But if they move it to tear 8 I will never buy a ship again outside the campaign. Because I see that is marketing sales strategy by cheating player and their money. And I asume thos guys that make this kind of videos, they all work for woe legends

I don’t buy any nerfable ship, WG can FThemselevs. No need to balance squat, there is always things better or worse , otherwise give all the same ship with same setup for free. If we had a racing game with Ferraris and corvettes, no one would be saying nerf this and that. Easy tell: you do not see ALL players at top tier ALL using SAME ship, nor do you see ship X consistently at top,of leaderboard. So stop,saying OP and Nerf. I never see every ship the same in every game form every player. If ship that good, all would have it, but they don’t and those that have it do not place in top slots every game. The variable in the loop is the skill of the player, the ship is the same across the board, the player is the variable. So if you a winner, it’s YOU. iF you a loser, it’s YOU, not the ship. No,one wins a battle cause of OP weapons, it’s the soldier who makes the difference,they all,using exact same weapon. I never heard anyone in Division or Destiny ever say the words OP or nerf, never. Besides It haven’t been out long enuff to build up usable data to analyze anyway, need 6-12 months, the you need to analyze each Players data, do the suck or good over alll, are they better in one ship than another, are they consistently good or bad yadda yadda. How about we play with what we got and the natural order will sort it self out. I challenge all CC to Div up in same ship with same build and commander and hav the good players get worst ships and worst players get best ships and play 20 games, then crunch the numbers, do it live and get you will break records , go on, I dare ya 😊

Oh yeah, how is WG practicing a bait and switch if everyone knows about their disclaimer? Literally every light cruiser (and most heavy cruisers) at tier 7 get deleted by BB's. Best radar, best concealment, and 16 (16!) short-fuse AP shells that fire every 5 seconds and you're going to tell me it isn't OP? Gtfoh

Its gonna be promoted soon like Weimar..... WG strategy: Release OP ship, let CCs give glowing reviews, let lots of suckers shell put $80 for it, let it run for 2 updates, then either promote to higher tier or nerf back to balance. Rinse and repeat. Works like a charm.
