Personally I think gibson should have had them released, it's kind of annoying that we get the same rotation of guitarists getting signatures so someone like trent having one would have been an interesting change.

If there was a breakdown in the negotiations with Trent and the signature fell through, Gibson may not have been able to sell the model. Giving them to employees sounds like a last resort to crushing them.

I know, I was cringing every time he said it. Giving the benefit of the doubt, if you have never heard it spoken, you wouldn't know it is pronounced ReznEr. Still, it reminds me of a massive poser who just keeps digging that hole... just keeps.... on.... digging. Trogly is not a poser btw. I'm not implying that. Just how do you not know that? It would be like pronouncing Grohl as Growhill or GrawHil. Sorry if your reading this Trog, take it all in jest, my man.

My opinion is that the pickup configuration is on purpose. Epiphone's Tommy Thayer signature models feature Seymour Duncan JBs in both neck and bridge positions. The bridge pickups show bare coils and the neck pickups are covered, but they are both JBs, which are usually considered bridge pickups. Let's also remember that calibrated sets are a recent invention. Originally all pickups were intended to be exactly the same; they just weren't.

Seeing NIN several times live, I have wondered about Trent's guitar before. The 2 toggles is something I understand why he does it, he goes in to play at 11 and then shuts off. He no use for volume pots

Weird they would cut the f-hole and rout the pickup, but not glue a dowel in the screw hole before paint.

Looks like they just repurposed leftover Memphis studio stock for this. Those didn't sell well and it was considered a failure, but I imagine they expected to sell a lot because of Tom so had a lot of bodies leftover. They might've just took off the tenon cover and routed the extras. I'm sure there's probably a few made without the tenon holes as they needed to make a enough for the workers, so they're made brand new not reused.

I bought a former Trent/NIN Les Paul 60RI Custom, it had its wiring redone so the toggle switch wouldn’t turn on the neck pickup so Trent definitely likes switches as an option. It just had standard tuners but had the binding coloured in black with a sharpie!

I have modded my 2013 studio es335 midnight blue with a 57 classic in the neck position . I can confirm that those holes are from the tendon cover. Mine has the same holes

Fwiw: My most recent guitar is glossy black (it's not just a display piece). I'm okay with fingerprints most of the time. I wipe it down before gigs and away we go.

I always loved the Trini Lopez. Long before Grohl and despite the fact that he has a similar signature. I think this guitar is killer looking and with dual dirty fingers, holy smokes! This would make a great non signature run imo. I would love to have one. I would rather have the trini headstock, but would be totally content with this version. Pretty bad ass really. Also, I'm not a hater of Trent at all, but I wouldn't buy a guitar because of him. Same with Dave. Same with most signatures now that I think about it..

i wish they would do “the fragile” guitars they made him for that tour. he sold them about 15 years ago on ebay (3 of them i think $10k+ each). they were pretty sick with graphics related to the album art. just gorgeous. i remember he also sold off a “pretty hate machine” era strat that had a lot of weird mods to the electronics and duct tape all over it. lastly he sold a lot of smashed guitars at that auction as well, mostly epiphone les pauls. i guess when you smash them every night you don’t spring for gibsons, lol.

Fun NIN Fact of the day: Robert Patrick's brother was a touring guitarists for the NIN in the early days and Robert Patrick himself can actually be seen wearing a NIN jacket on the behind the scenes Terminator 2 documentary as he wanted to promote his brothers upcoming band.

Please tell me you pronounced his name weird on purpose. Rez-ner, just for future reference. It was almost like nails on a chalkboard each time you said it. Great info about a guitar i didn't know about. I tried your polishing technique w the same products on a black ltd v407b and an ovation acoustic. Wasn't the "wow" result i was expecting & i looked at it in different lighting angles. Its definitely clean & w a slightly smoother surface. Got a zw camo I'll try it out on once i get new grover locking keystone tuners in.

I have one of those 335 Studios (2013) and you're right. The lacquer on mine is starting to peel where neck meets the frets.

Be aware.. The baked maple fretboard looks and feels fantastic, but when it comes time to re-fret baked maple chips extremely easily. A metal fret protector is a must, and even then chipping is very likely.

I have an ES 335 studio with a single dirty fingers pickup. It's one of my favorite guitars. Weighs hardly anything. It would probably not be the only guitar someone would want to own since it's mostly meant for one purpose.

One of the coolest pieces of rock memorabilia I’ve ever gotten to see was at the Hard Rock Cafe in Myrtle beach: one of those Les Paul’s from that tour, with the graphic on it. Icing on the cake, the neck broke and parts were hanging out from Trent smashing it. 😂

Call me crazy but I have always wanted to know what a bridge pick up sounds like in the neck. Now I know, even better two of the same pick ups in the guitar. I think it's such a same this guitar never made it. It's a great looking and sounding guitar. Very different to the norm but worth a chance I think. Maybe one day it could be released as a Epiphone inspired by Gibson guitar? If Trent was on board to make a signature. But if not a few small changes to make it different so it could be released on its own merit. We need a guitar like this to shake things up and unlock new creative ideas. I really want one now.

Barring any other evidence, I'm going to go out on a limb and conjecture that the reason it didn't get released is that Trent took issue with Henry J's infamous wood sourcing and subsequent government clash. It was about this time period and Trent's strongly opinionated on many things

I put a set of Dirty Fingers in the neck and bridge of an old Epiphone les paul I own. I can confirm that those things are super hot, super loud and produce some absolutely brutal metal tones. It's a shame they are so overlooked.

I have a 335 Studio from this era and the binding work looks as sloppy as the one on this one. Good thing it's black. I like the 335 Studio but you can tell that it was a "budget" model.
