Malcolm and Angus, the 2 best rock gtr teachers ever. Get the high voltage record, learn to play rythym with Mal in the left speaker, then learn to play lead with Ang in the right speaker. No joke, that's exactly how I learned. Mal's right hand, so tight and groovy and such attack..so percussive. You should do a video on how important it is to be able to lock it down like Mal before one gets flashy.
@@joansnakepit7929 I agree 100%. I just loved him even more when I saw them live! OMG the best show I have ever been to. Their 2015 tour in Canada. Downsview Ontario.
Whether folks like the playing or think it’s too “simple”, Angus and Malcom were my teachers too, from the first (Australian High Voltage) album through to today. They mastered simplicity and created real music. 🇨🇦👍🏼
Angus is my favourite guitarist ! Everybody saying he plays simple haha yeah... it s basic but simple ? Nah. It os so hypnotizing anf impressive wjat he does, it is really great I m so in love with his sound !! Thanks for that lesson ! Great sound, beautiful SG.
Great guitarist with extreme good taste and perfect teaching skills to contemplate all levels of musicians. I'm your fan and I don't miss any of your videos! Greetings from Brazil!
Awesome tips, Robert! Those subtle details makes a huge difference. Like you said, makes you not play the scale in order anymore, giving it a total new sound and feel. Thanks man! Cheers from Brazil!
Amazing video. Thank you for posting this. Angus is in a class by himself. So much feel and tone and incredible vibrato. Could you produce a video like this about Billy Gibbons? thanks man.
Was just listening to Whole Lotta Rosie when I got Meister Robert's notification. Of course I'm gonna check it out! Been wanting to delve into more Angus techniques, also Malcolm. One of the most rocking bands ever.
I know this is a late comment, but I’ve been looking for a video that explains the pattern of that first lick for months! This explains very well. Gained a subscriber, well done!
This is an overlooked technique. It really adds flavor. I think if a person can use this and throw in some notes from the major pentatonic or maybe a minor sixth here and there. Iommi does this stuff too. It's so tasty! Thanks for the great tutorial!
You have really nice vibrato Robert. Couldn't agree more about Angus. Every time I have a student I make sure they know - It doesn't need to be DIFFICULT, to be GOOD. It just needs to be played well. Angus is a perfect example, and if you want difficult, well he can supply that need as well!
This is so true. I'm just starting to learn, but when you see Angus's riffs written on tabs you realize he keeps it really simple. Yet still a challenge even for their simplicity.
Damn Robert, really dig your lessons, they are so much more practical and so much better explained than a lot of the other guys videos out there. Keep it up man, great stuff!
Good to know I've been playing the YSMANL solo wrong all this time haha. Learned more than I thought I would in this video! Keep up the great stuff man
Robert, thanks for this video, Angus is the King of Blues Based Rock, Could you do a deal on Gary Rossington, that would be great, I love your Channel, Rock On, Cousin Figel
I like you man, like how you talk, your attitude. I love Angus, it is and it isn't his style...it's a legacy. Angus studies Chuck, Chuck studies Rosetta, Rosetta studies the tin can/out of tune instruments blues of the cotton picking slaves. All those people add a bit, Angus puts the rock attitude into the blues thing...to my ears it is the same. I saw Chuck 20 years ago, he was playing loud and distorted ( natural break up) and it sounded like Angus. There you go the bridge was build from both ends! Keep it up! PS: Just named a few, you got the Wolves, Kings, Johnsons, etc famous or not guys in the mix!
Awesome lesson. I play some of his solos and didn’t even realize that was the technique while I was learning it. How come you don’t do any slash tips and tricks?? Angus and slash two is my MOST favorites
He does all of those little tricks because he has tiny baby hands! That gives him that unique sound, because he’s having to compensate, such as the rolling stuff you mentioned.
really cool lessons have to say lick 4 struck me as being very similar to Ray Manzerics opening keyboard lick in the Doors song"Strange Days".Very cool.
New sub here from Tim's place. Nice to see that Marshall JMP-1 pre-amp. I played over 10k 1hr shows in a classic rock show band and it carried the load. It also recorded really well. Nice room, my cell is too small. More power to you. I also watched your "I'm not touring" video, give it a thumbs-up, I just couldn't find the right words. Kind Regards, 👍 🙏 Maximum Respect, and Peace ~ LW 👊 😎
Cool. That first 'jumped' pentatonic riff played here, I just heard / learnt from a 1972 ZZ Top audio vid where Billy Gibbons used it -- amongst a gazillion other cool riffs. Gibbons added a note, though, right at the end. But the riff is otherwise the same.
That a 4th or a 5th? When four Irish are jammin' guaranteed there's a fifth. Rocka Rolla, High Voltage, Too Fast For Love; 80's pre req's for rock. Love show, thanks.
Literally every time I play a solo at least 75% of it is Angus Young licks I have stolen, the other 25% is a combination of Billy Gibbons and Jimmy Page licks I've stolen LOL
You know for some reason this is the very first time I have been able to see the tabs you keep pointing at. I don't know what the problem has been but I am using an iPhone though even when I turn it on his side and makes a picture bigger I have never seen the tabs. Just saying.....
Ironically, I watched this lesson and came away thinking Journey more than AC/DC, "Stone in Love" more than "You Shook Me All Night Long". Most people might think the two are nothing alike. Oh yeah?????
yes. a great technique used throughout the blues as well. excellent lesson and great examples. the solo in YSMANL is an excellent example of how to use the whole fretboard with minor pentatonic.
@@bryanmannoia8410 - Outstanding. I just started learning that and was super excited to have potentially recognized that trick somewhere else. Thanks! 👍🏻
