Hey coach I have a question, I used to play a lot of sports in my life time from since I started grade school, my sport I played comp first in was field hockey in grade 5, I was luckily chosen to play in the comp, first year I played so well with no training, sometimes I forget we had training even and I played so loud and hard as like I was trying almost max but not forced trying hard and I was a loud guy talking to my teammates and communication a lot, I become captain in the first year and by second year I was titled the greatest in hockey, winning an award. Fast forward now I had a sport for school which was European handball, it’s like volleyball but you can move with limitations, I had the exact feeling, and I knew in my head how I was playing and was for sure not in the zone or flow state, but I played so ferociously and I was loud as well, id get the whole team on me and still score, I played a few games and I’m one of the greatest already for this sport thst i don’t play comp or had practise In at all. So my question is how that I’m not in flow or zone, clearly breaking deep game laws by trying very hard and being in my mind a bit yet I play likes there’s my last minute in this game? And how can I transfer this to basketball?

The difference between your success in those other sports and basketball is that you care a lot more about basketball, and thus are a lot more pressured to succeed. That doesn't necessarily make you worse, but if you're constantly focusing on how well you perform rather than just playing and enjoying, then you're going to play in a far more restricted fashion. The trick isn't to "stop" caring about basketball (as if that was really possible), but to allow yourself to enjoy other things as well - perhaps even as much as basketball. If you don't have a balanced life and the only thing you're betting your enjoyment on is basketball, you're going to face too much pressure to actually enjoy it and perform well - Simon, Team DeepGame

Hey coach, today I had a really bad game, shooting 0-12 FG or something. I then decided I wanted to play defence instead, to at least help out the team. After the game finished, I thought a bit hard about why it happened, was it an off game or has my shooting game gone down or not at that level yet. When I got back home, I decided to take 100 shots from up close (because usually I take like 5 and move back significantly)and after I make 100 shots, I move back slightly to the mid range area, and I thought to myself “For the next year, I will keep doing that to warm up my shooting. I have to stop getting overconfident and approach it with patience”.

We all have bad games, so I can see where you're coming from. Just don't allow one game to dictate your entire worth as a basketball player. Often the best thing you can do is move onto the next. Take what you can learn from each game, but in most cases you do not need to make drastic changes after the results of a single game - Simon, Team DeepGame

@@DeepGameBasketball Thanks coach, really helpful advice appreciate it. What can I do to learn from each game though? Can I journal down everything I did well and things I could improve on?

@@nischalchallur2083 Yes, that's a great place to start. Ideally you'd do this the next day when you're not as attached to the results of the game. From there, you'll better understand what you can learn from every game. Watching game film of yourself also makes the process a lot clearer - Simon, Team DeepGame
