So I bought this rather handsome Skoda Rapid Sport knowing that it got a little bit hot while it was with the previous owner.
As I am a huge fan of the Skoda Rapid I was instantly drawn in.
In this video you will see the journey that this little Skoda went on from burnt plastic to shiny paint.
We covered:
Removal of melted plastics
replacing the engine loom
replacing fuel injectors
replacing vacuum hoses
dismantling boost pipes and intake
and fitting everything back together.
bodywork repair and painting
and finally starting the car up again for the first time since the fire.
I hope you enjoy the video, any comments please let me know
Much Love
Tom

No gloves and no masks, you do know melted gaskets in engines are highly carcinogenic 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hi, I cannot find any information on this, I admit I did not consider the potential dangers of working on fire damaged engine components however no gaskets were disturbed during any of the work undertaken. I did discover the risk of working on ARP due to fibres however none are present in this engine bay. I did read about asbestos gaskets on older vehicles being a risk however these were banned in 1990. If you have a link to the risks of fire damage to engines I would love to read it to ensure I am safe during any future work.

@@TeeeTV a quick Google should give you more info and advice. When we do this kind of task at work I wear at minimum a dust mask and some disposable gloves and work areas are steam cleaned first. As a one off task your probably ok but more than that I would say is a serious risk to your health. Take care.

@@angeley3756 yes I did read about cleaning before working due to the corrosiveness of fire extinguishers, I guess at the time I was more concerned about getting water into the engine, but thank you for the info and I will be being more careful moving forward :)
