I had an XV a few year back when it first got released for work duties. It was okay around Sydney traffic, very easy to drive and I liked it for the comfort....until going up to the Blue Mountains and you got the gutless cvt experience. 😂
The CVT gearbox just doesn’t cut the mustard. It makes such a drone for not much performance. I really wish they would fit a torque converter auto in this. Also For me any car without rear air vents in Australia in summer is a real no non!!
Doesn't the air conditioning travel straight towards the back anyway. I wonder if the floor vents work with cooling, assuming it has the under-seat vents.
@@lorenschwiderski May be have you tried dealing with a 35 degree day when you have kids in the back seat with no cooling, despite the best legal tint and even vents under seats. It's just plainly ridiculous that the Govt lets cars without such basic simple features even no full size spares be sold !!
Everybody dogging Subaru. I bought a 2023 Crosstrek. I live in Arkansas. It was the last of the 6 speed transmissions, no driving aid safety features, 2.0 liter engine. I love this car. It gets a real world average 30mpg. The 6 speed is excellant, uncommon, and was in low demand. Probably due to false fuel economy numbers and unavailibity in most of the country.
In the USA we have a Sport model with the 2.5 engine. With the bump in price for that model, the cost is more like getting an Outback Premium. Considering what comes with the car, the Outback is less expensive. The CrossTrek Sport, being lighter, is a tad quicker.
That boot size is way too small. Agree about the CVT . . . Noisy and gutless. Changing the name from XV to Crosstreck without fixing thos pre existing downfalls was a big mistake at this high pricepoint.
I thought that I would eventually get a subaru years ago because I liked them a lot back then unfortunately now that they have a CVT gearbox I’m no longer interested. The thing they could do now to get people like me interested is to start making a hybrid version of a type like the Nissan X trail where a smaller boxer engine could be used to charge the batteries only and have no gearbox at all with the only drive to the axles is via electric motors.
I’m probably the few who like the design and the look. It has its practicality I like. I can even live with the CVT but the gutless engine is literally useless. And no rear air vent, in 2024? Even a class smaller has rear air vent now.
@_thewizardman if I have to tell you, I fear you'll get defensive. They are awful. Rev too high. Fake 'stepped' changes. I have a ZF 8 speed torque conveter. Difference is like chalk and cheese.🙃
I hope Subaru releases a Crosstrek hybrid with Toyota's ECVT transmission. What i found bizarre was there are no rear vents and a manual passenger seat even in tbe limited trim. The limited legacy has piwer passenger seat, rear vents and heated rear seats. On the plus side the Crosstrek has x mode though no dual zone
then you'd know it's priced similar to the others in what is just an overpriced segment generally. Not that it really competing head to head, this is more off road focused and carves its own niche there
I think its a subaru issue with all non turbo models. I ordered a 2023 outback but cancelled it as the power was no good. Not consistent, one minute it felt ok, the next, gutless.
Here we say why can't we have the hybrid. Bottom line is the 2.5 should be the base - there is basically no economy penalty- and they need hybrid and turbo options to compete with Mazda cx-30, Kia seltos, and Toyota corolla cross.
@@edisontrent5244 to me the problem with the hybrid is you loss the spare, we live in the country and regularly travel so I’m not buying anything without a spare. Agreed a turbo option would be even better. Just slot the 1.8 turbo in , Subaru still use it in Japan. Easy fix from my lounge chair with no engineering degree 😛
If you need a idea about how this guy, doesn't have one himself. He thinks a hybird version would solve, the engine and drivetrain he doesn't like. My five year old knows better.
CVT's are just the cheapest and nastiest transmission ever built. Only good for scooters and golf buggies....if that. The powertrain sounds like it wouldn't pull a sick lady off the toilet either......so why bother?
