I'm not one to comment, but that looked like apple slices with the crisp on top. So even if it started wrong, it definitely looked like sliced apple crisp to me. I like it. Cat, you rock! And Raven, you're awesome!😊
Your feelings on that whole soap are totally valid, Cat and it sucks that it acted up like that. And also, I'm really glad you guys didn't edit that conversation out, it's such an amazing example of positive support. You two are awesome, keep being your awesome selves 🥰
Thank you! I had honestly considered leaving it out because I don't always enjoy showing some of the struggles. And I kinda felt like I was gentle parenting Cat (LOL). But I left it in because showing coming back from being upset is a process and I'm glad that resonated with people.
I don’t blame Cat losing their 💩a little bit, with the frustration of trusting that the fragrance would behave. I love how supportive Raven was. Friendship goals and whatnot 😁 Also love that some dick shaped frosting put a smile back on their face 😆 14:28 looked like there was a sinister face in the swirls…
I love how Cat said they wanted apple slices decides F that idea and the soap was like “hold my beer”. I think it looks good minus the air pockets. ❤watching you amazing creatures!
Seeing this in my notifications and the first thing out of my mouth was "Angry cotton candy?" Oh no this is sooo much worse. Angry cotton candy was a good child in comparison. Sorry cat 😢good job salvaging what you could.
LOL Oh man, Angry Cotton Candy... I almost wonder if we do need to revisit that. So many people have brought it up and we've changed a lot as makers since then. HM.
Love you both and I’m sorry it didn’t turn out how you wanted it to. You 2 are so encouraging to each other and that’s best buds forever right there ❤️ love you!
I think it’s reminiscent of apple crisp - at least all the onces I’ve made and eaten 😂 Great job salvaging it! Also, love the experimentation with camera angles!
Honestly I think it looks like an apple muffin with big apple chunks. It's a bummer that it accelerated like that, but it turned out pretty good all things considered. I was also highly amused to see Cat frosting their own soap to make up for their temper tantrum 😂
~my sacrifice~ ugh acceleration sucks. One thing that (sometimes) helps me when working with a new fragrance is adding the fragrance at the emulsion stage then hand mixing each color until they come to trace if that makes sense
Yeah, we've done that in the past and *sometimes* it saves us but other times it doesn't. Honestly, we need to start doing test loaves before fully committing.
The only suggestion I can think of is maybe make micro batches to test risky fragrances? Since you mentioned it might be a difference between the soap base they test with vs the one you do.
well sheeeet happens XD I like the close-up bits because sometimes i squint trying to see better what you are doing. Also, out of curiosity... when a soap batter accelerates, would it be possible (and safe) to shape it by (gloved) hand? Or maybe to make embeds out of it? If I recall correctly, one of you said that soap gets very hot... so I guess it's not feasible? When something like this happens, is it possible to salvage an accelerating batter by laying it all flat on a surface (maybe with a rolling pin) and after it cures to cut it with cookie cutters? I have no idea what kind of texture accelerating soap has... so I'm probably making no sense. But I'm curious. 😄
Great questions! I'll try and answer them as best I can... For the hand scooping, yes, it's *technically* possible but you were right on the money that it is very hot. So even with gloves, it can get way too hot to be touching. I don't remember which video it was but at one point in the distant past I tried scooping it in by hand and had to give up so I didn't burn myself. Laying it flat on a surface... maybe?? It would depend on the consistency of the batter. This one was still relatively smooth so it's possible we could have tried that. Not sure though! Other times we've had acceleration come with ricing or separation, so the batter can become very crumbly. Which wouldn't really lend itself to being rolled out. That also goes soap on a stick pretty fast so not a great option for that one. Might try it the next time we get one like this though!
@@CatandRaven I see! Thank you for the very detailed answers! 😊 I'm not a soapmaker, but the whole handmade process intrigues me a lot. If in the future I have the chance to participate in a soap making workshop, I will keep all your tips/tricks in mind!
I think the uncolored portions of the soap made the finished product look more like apple crisp, it's got that sort of yellowy color some kinds of apples are on the inside. Shame about the acceleration though!
