Love seeing these old beasts. Terrible for the environment of course, but still wonderful engineering and impressive appearance. Works of art in their own way

Yes, not terribly environmental friendly in masses. However not a problem in small numbers. Like forest fires, terrible when a lot of them, but, happen every so often naturally and not good if completely suppressed (remember Yellowstone fires).

I hope they will invent a filter so there is no smoke that can harm the environment and use dead tree enstead of coal

These actually are not locomotives, rather traction engines. Both are steam powered yes but still are different machines

Love the attention you are bringing to these lovely old machine. But for god's sake THESE AREN'T TRAINS NOR LOCOMOTIVES!! These are "Traction Engines" they were the early steam equivalent of a diesel farm tractor today. You don't call a modern farm tractor a LOCOMOTIVE, or a TRAIN! Just because they are steam powered does not mean they are tied to railroading. It's a major error and needs to be corrected!! Edit: In fact that's why we call modern farm tractors, tractors in the first place. TRACTION ENGINE, the term tractors was originally an type of shorthand for them, and was later expanded to encompass diesel and gasoline based machines which served the same purpose!
