You got that right about it being a nightmare being nearly 800 miles from home to have car troubles on a storm chase... My friend and I went to Mississippi (we are from New Jersey so over 1,000 miles away from home) on March 25, 2021 to chase a High Risk. I drove all the way from NJ the day before and in the middle of the chase, my cars alternator died. All the tornadoes occurred in Alabama that day. Thankfully, the tow truck driver figured the alternator was what was most likely wrong with it and he was so nice and replaced it out for me. Never will forget that moment! Hope you get back in your car soon!

As soon as I got out of school that day I headed north and I couldn't get other right storm in time 😢 still caught a tornado in the qlcs later that night near the nebraska iowa border though

It was actually so windy the structure of earth couldn't handle it ( if you know what I mean ) basically I Mean the outer part of earth just in that spot it was so strong from the tornado it could last only about 9 seconds before the wind could pick up so the wind was at least 30 MPH - down to 15 MPH I tried to explain my self well so I hope u can understand what I Mean and yes the EF - 1 was just a strong gust of wind.

I love how nobody even questions the fact that pi, despite just getting hit by lightning, decided it would be smart to just stand around outside. I would have shit myself so bad and just hopped immediately into his friend‘s car😂

“Should we check on them?” That’s what I like to see and hear from those out chasing storms. Given how popular it is anymore, it’s not often we actually see people take a moment out of going after a tornado for that shot to slow down, check their property, see if anyone is out, if their house was hit, etc. to decide whether they need to make the call to get help. I’ve seen videos where people have cheered and clapped, throwing out all the “WOO!”s when seeing a home and buildings get hit, never bothering to go in the direction after to see if someone was hurt or need help. There’s definitely a thrill with chasing storms that I personally don’t have the nerves for, a thrill that attracts certain types of people that love the adrenaline rush and getting _that_ shot that so many of wouldn’t dare get near in person …. but within those types of people, there’s also a distinction between the ones in it for themselves and the ones in it for passion. Pi is the latter, and thankfully so many other others are just like him. I wish they were all like that, and it’s unfortunate there’s some out there that gives storm chasers a bad name at times … but one can only hope they’ll move on to the next thrill that isn’t cheering on the damage to other people’s livelihoods. Enjoyed the video footage! Some very lovely shots.

RUBBERIZED. UNDER. COATING. Little brother you need to get the underside of your vehicle CLEANED and a generous coating of rubberized under coating to prevent future lightning strikes. Remember, it only takes 10,000 volts to jump one inch. If you're car's chassis is closer to the ground than 10 inches, you're asking for a lightning hit. Rubber tires help BUT if you have other metal exposed just an inch or 2 from the ground, that short of a distance won't matter much to MEGAvolts (if it jumped a mile from the sky to hit you...) from a lightning bolt.
