Admitting to wrongdoing on the part of oneself or one's predecessors is pretty much only practiced by white people, right wingers, and Christians. If someone doesn't fall into one of those categories, they'll most likely react to criticism with hostility and denial...maybe with the exception of the Japanese, and mainly because their values system has become so Westernized. But I mainly noticed this when talking to 3rd worlders online. I have literally never seen someone from one of those countries accept that their homeland has any problems, let alone that their ancestors ever did anything wrong. It's perhaps most noticable with Muslims, particularly Arabs and Turks. I was scrolling through shorts when I happened upon a video about Turkish protestors mixing up the flags of different countries and every other comment was a Turk insisting that it had to be made up because only Americans are uneducated about geography. The whole world has heard Americans airing our dirty laundry so often that they are genuinely convinced that America is the most anarchic failed state on Earth. On another video listing the countries with the most violent crime, people were insisting it had to be wrong because America wasn't on it and they believed it is the most violent country. Most people groups aren't so self-effacing, in fact they'll ignore the problems in their country and if anyone from any other country brings them up they'll deny that such problems exist.
