I strung this Razor Soft string on my Extreme Tour at 52 lbs and love it. Has great control, spin and feel IMO. String is not lively, so if you are looking for power, this is not for you. It's made for Intermediate/Advanced players who take full swings and has their own power. I don't know what you mean by no spin on this string... I generate plenty from this. I came from Confidential 125, and this Razor Soft is like a soft version of Confidential.
Agree mostly with Mark. I was very excited to try it after all the positive reviews and ordered a reel for my stringing business. Initially while fresh in my Aero 98, it felt extremely dead and low powered, I could not generate any penetration in my shots and I rely on offensive game so I was forcing a lot of shots. However after two weeks the string came alive! After some tension loss it became lively and excellent for my game. Tension maintenance is amazing, one of best I’ve tried, so I think it plays much better at low tensions and it maintains it. I think the difference in $20 string like Razor Soft vs cheap isospeed is the tension maintenance, lot of strings feel identical on first day but difference is felt after that.
Hi Mark.Very interesting string review like always. This is my string of choice now.I want you to ask,If i remember correct when ypu reviewed Razor Code regular (also dark grey version and 1 30) you said that you broke it in less than for hours.Razor soft is more durable from that point of view.Did you hit harder than or tecnifibre makes "Soft" poly that is stiffer than regular one normal version.Glad that you like it,serves and volleys are top notch.Regards
I have used 1.5 reels of the Raozr Soft since it was released(17G&18G). It is a muted string, but still has that connection to the ball. I think it provides ok spin and great pocketing. Right now in the wintertime, my favorite setup is to string it @43Lb in the night and play it within the next day. You kinda need to hit big to get the best out of it. Somehow, it only works perfectly with my Tecnifibre ISO300 and 305. I have also tested it using the Pure Drive 2021, Pro Staff V13 315, and Radical MP 2023 @ from 40Lb to 52Lb. Neither of these combinations feels perfect to me. FYI, the Razor Soft is one of those polys you should string with a lower tension. My friend who served as a stringer at Shanghai Rolex Master this year says that Danil only uses 52 lb.
I use iso baseline control from your videos and have loved the string. Have been trying the isospeed spin and love that as well. Both great strings and so cheap. Play at a 4.5 level.
I like muted strings. Means that I can play without a dampener. Saves me two or three shots per match that would have gone somewhere else when hit on the dampener. Yes, I do THAT many mishits. My fellow clubmates play quite hard, no time to adjust.
I really liked Razor soft. I felt like it had good touch, decent spin. IMHO it doesn't handle well with low tensions - 51 or 52 seemed like the sweet spot. Felt it held tension pretty well.
