Want some delicious uni?! I'll show you how I foraged a bunch of sea urchins at Maverick's Beach in Half Moon Bay, California. The cleaning process is tedious, but the urchins are too damn good to pass up! While not a true catch and cook, uni are delicious when served raw! I encourage you to go out and collect some sea urchin as well, as they are highly invasive and destructive to the local ecosystem. They can easily decimate kelp beds, which have caused the local abalone population to decline significantly.
In California, you will need a fishing license to harvest these urchins like I do in the video. Each licensed individual may harvest 35 urchins per day. Please be mindful to not damage the rock bed while harvesting.
Be safe and have fun! Please like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video!
The orange "meat" parts are the gonads FYI!
