It could be, but I feel most competitive players would rather play around Foul Play than the possibility that Tera Blast might change between physical/special
It's why I used to run Dachsbun with Chi-Yu. Baby-Doll Eyes harshly lowers attack with priority, so if you get lucky, Dachsbun becomes an incredible wall, and with Howl it can become a threatening sweeper, but it also learns Body Press with Well-Baked Body. Howl, Play Rough, Body Press, Baby-Doll Eyes. Gimmicky, but it got me to Master a few times.
@@ashblossomandjoyoussprung.9917| Off the top of my head, Simple is the only thing that changes Baby-Doll Eyes from -1 ATK to -2. Am I missing something?
@TWLSpark Not trying to be toxic or rude; but you said, “It doesn’t” And then proceeded to completely support @EliteDarkLordman’s comment. Am I missing something? Was there a comment deleted or something?
As soon as I heard charm I knew that it would have used special instead of physical because tera blast uses whichever side is higher when it’s casted in battle. A really cool mechanic I hope more moves get
Honestly, I always thought the interaction was just whatever stat was actually higher regardless of modifiers. I didn't think it would allow something like +6 Attack Alakazam fire off physical Tera Blast due to the unmodified Att always being lower.
The stats shown were Dragonite at Lv 100 but considering that this was VGC and people usually either Gen or gold bottle cap their Dragonite cause it needs every stat, here’s what the reduction and interaction looked like at level 50 204 Atk with Adamant Nature 108 Special Atk with Adamant 204/2 = 102 A 6 point difference. Since Tera Blast turned into a special move it seems like it ignores choice items during the calculation of it too which is funk.
I always wondered if you could use Tera Blast like that midbattle- whether you could pair it with Overheat or Leaf Storm on a Mixed Attacker without much worry
Maybe overheat on infernape, since its attack stats are so close. You just run into the standard mixed attacker problems of not having enough evs for both attacks and speed and no unused stat to lower with nature.
I figured that it's because of Tera Blast becoming a Special Attack, but I thought it was because they're actually running Choice Specs Dragonite somehow with 0 ATK IVs and a -Atk Nature just for this one specific matchup against Tusk.
Player 1 knew EXACTLY what they were doing. (Also I think it would've actually been more beneficial to not use charm, as Great Tusk mightve potentially lived the attack, PROVIDED it was a low roll. (Im aware that it was a tera boosted stab super effective flying move, but you'd definitely have a higher chance using the stat which is much more suitable to counter the attack than a horrifically weak one)).
You told me about low spD but didn't mention dragonites attack stat or explain Tera blast til afterwards, I thought the mistake was going to be that Charm lowers attack not spA and that Terra blast was a special move. Here the special defence part of the puzzle is actively unhelpful.
I didn't even know tera blast would be physical for higher attack stats, all of my pokemon with the move had higher special so it always showed special.
Hang on charm only works for attack not spec attack right? (Don’t use the move myself so don’t know the working of it) so the special attack is still the same just like the spec def of you great tusk is still low so that’s my answer Just seen the end of the video as I paused it to give my answer and fair enough
But wouldn’t the choice band have raised the attack stat to actually be 1.5x thus making the actual attack stat slightly stronger than the special attack still even at .75?
