“Here’s your closer” 😂😂😂 This is the greatest racing channel in all of RU-vid. Steve can be having a really, really bad day and it doesn’t matter. He just keeps goin. Everyone pitches in and magic happens. Every video is a lesson in courage, perseverance, determination and teamwork. Glad you are OK Steve!!!
48:49 I actually commend that track offical for asking “who the hell are you and why are you filming!?” Very fair enough to be asking those questions in such a situation.
My question is why he's asking? It is a public place and you can legally. Showing a crash car is it going to reveal Steve Morris's super secrets!!!! Cause there are none, guy doesn't cheat.
Did he really think some random guy jumped on the track with a camera?? Didn’t he have more important things to worry about other than someone with a camera??
Try these from Tim McAmis Track Safety: Questions You Need To Ask Fire Safety Rant What You Should Know About Racing Fire Systems Don’t Put-Off This Fire System Checkup
I'm shocked you can race your cars without the transmission being covered. You've got extremely hot oil in the cabin with you, and as you can see in this case if there's a problem it's instantly no vision and even worse that is a fire. It's always been a question for me when I've been watching some of these on the safety component. Glad you're safe!
Those wheels were a spinning when Steve took a look at the Red format book with the assorted head layouts. The in-house program system they have can up with is certainly a valuable, time saving, money making tool that sparked Steve's interest.
Steve is such a class act. Just went through such a scramble to repair the car then went through a harrowing crash and no cussing no blaming anyone else, taking responsibility for all of it no matter who’s fault it was. He’s an amazing example for others to follow.
He's a trooper. You could totally see the frustration in his eyes in the outro. However he kept a smile on, gave us the "that's racing" branding that we know and love, and is ready to get back to work.
Let's give it up for the safety crew. It was less than 10 seconds from the flames showing up on camera to them being on site. Incredible! Glad Steve is OK, it can be fixed.
not to mention them yelling at what they thought was a random guy just recording on the track to, then promptly apologizing once they realized he is with Steve
Let’s give a big shot ahht to Advanced Cylinder Head for the great hospitality . You guys really helped out and you got to make a new friend in Steve Morris . I don’t personally know him but i believe he’s one of the most genuine humans in the racing world. Thank you guys .
Glad you are ok Mr Steve, Hats off to the response Team, Hats off to ACH and all the ACH employees!!! It’s Amazing to see Hard working Americans come together and help other Hard Working Americans in times of need. Steve it was awesome to see you take the time to walk through ACH and Show your Appreciation to them on your video. Great video!!!!
The only thing I can think of is my days in the Air Force where for both electrical & especially hydraulic lines that see 3000psi are clamped & braced all along there length, anywhere from 6 inches to 2 feet depending on the bend i.e. the shorter and/or bend of 90degress max has the greatest stress relief added. With the new tires causing multiple shacking may of been enough to cause the fitting/line to blow. This not being your first time either SO it may be time to investigate & re-engineer the transmission lines, how they are supported with a focus on the type of fittings that are being used & whether switching to a better design with raised stand offs if needed to attach the line to be relieved. Also a 2/3 Tranny shell cover added to prevent hot fluids from spraying directly on you leaving the passenger 1/3 open to allow inspection of said lines & connections. Lastly a fire extinguisher nozzle pointing directly at the tranny. Anyhoo glad you're ok.
#1: So glad you're safe and healthy. #2: Dang. #3: I don't buy merch online generally (usually only at the track), but I'm pretty sure I need a hat, hoodie, T-shirt and whatever else I can find. Sorry for the bad evening, but glad it wasn't a tragic evening. The fact that you smile the way you do when doing the outtro says a lot. Yep a smile, you got priorities in place, but pretty sure you're broken-hearted inside. You've got the coolest car in drag and drive for sure and one of the coolest in all of motorsports. Glad you're safe!
that was very nice of the owner at avanced cylinder heads and their specialist crew helping out steve morris, top blokes. i am quiet supprised how much high quality gear they have some the best and latest machines towards the middle of the clip i thought wow for cylinder head shop they have alot of engine building gear then the penny dropped there engine builders and not only head shop, very impresive shop
Glad it wasn't as bad as it looked and that Steve is okay. It amazes me that you can find people like the owner of this shop will step up and help out in a situation like this. It restores my faith that there are still good people in this world.
That was an awesome video, well, right up till the end. I hate it for you and your family. I still love the wagon. You'll find replacement parts. I'm sure you'll get a lot of help from your subscribers.
It's the great thing about motorsport. in my series I've seen a guy work most of the night to help another fix his car. They were both the only guys who could win the championship. Even in high level series other teams will lend personnel and parts to get a competitor back out on track.
Trust me when I tell you that I cried when I tell you I CRIED when you hit that wall and that flash of fire went off. AND, I am a 65 year old man. The one thing that I am grateful for was to see Kyle go a seven second pass. I got a kick out of that ! 😢
You could see Steve's head spinning thinking of ideas while walking around that shop at the end!!!! Steve was just trying to absorb it all, and think of ways to do things in his shop... I am the exact same way!!!
I have been watching this channel for a long time and have witnesses a ton of break downs, a pile money spent, finding placing to do repairs on the road, tons of miles driven and a level of frustration at times that would make most people sell the car and hang it up. The fact that you pull together a positive attitude and “keep on truckin” through all this is pretty inspirational. I think it’s finally time to go pick up an SMX T-shirt.
What a great shop and fantastic guys at Advanced Cylinder Heads, an owner that understands and goes above and beyond! He gave Steve everything and then some , of what he needed to completely repair and rebuild his engine including an extremely talented workforce. I was amazed at the amount of work they take in and turn around. Everyone seems happy and looks like they’re enjoying working there so he must be a good guy to work for. Nice find and put their number someplace handy so you can recommend them to anyone who needs some quality work done.
In your own words “that just sucks”!Your safe, that’s the best part and kudos to response of the safety team great response time for a non NHRA event.Probably the best I’ve seen.👍
Big shout out to Jimmy and all at advanced cylinder heads. Gutted to see the result of the crash Steve, but at least you're unharmed. As others have said, big shout out to the fire and rescue guys too, that was a super quick response.
I don't even have a drivers license and enjoy watching these videos 😅 I'm glad you're ok and that the emergency response works so well. Special shout-out to the guy who checked in on who is recording a potential very intimate situation and then apologizing right awy. Social media is great and all, but there got to be some limits.
Excellent people at ACH for helping you get it going again.. I’m stunned at the minimal damage running without oil.. glad you’re okay cars can be rebuilt
Glad you're ok Steve. Car might be junk right now but it can be fixed... you sir cannot be replaced. Now you and Kyle get Mama through the week, and try to have some fun !
Looking at the vid, there might be some front suspension damage but the road wheel looks untouched. Given the rear fender was not rubbing the tire, the rear suspension is untouched. I'm hoping that in the light of day they take a look at the car and see only sheet metal damage. The real issue is the trans line coming off for a 2nd time and the lack of a trans cover that was supposed to be installed after the first line failure.
@@MrSlappo said " With him having Converter issues before I wonder is there is another issue that just hasn't been found yet " You tube hid your comment unless I sort by newest ( putting my screen name link at the end probably did it ) I'm betting that with the solenoids, there is a combination that dead heads the pump and the pressure isn't regulated. If you are speaking of the converter heating, this was supposedly cured by moving the trans away from the engine so the converter isn't engaged into the input shaft as far allowing for more fluid flow.
So sorry you had to have that happen right after doing all that work on the engine but also so glad that you are okay! Totally blown away by the immediate and impressive response by the track personnel and your very loving wife! You are truly blessed! Also kudos to the track person who challenged their person or your person who was filming at the end of the track there. Place just seems like the class operation all the way.
Oh man Steve, I am so sorry about crashing your beautiful station wagon. You have the neatest family and the best attitude. You show a lot of class under crazy bad conditions. I admire you, your wife, son, and crew!
I’m such a fan. Steve goes through all that, and Still has a smile on his face and makes light of a tough situation. My kinda ppl. Looking forward to much more
I give Val a lot of credit for saving your car. I'm pretty sure that was her telling the fire crew that there was still a fire inside the car. Bummer after all your hard work that's what happened, I hope the rest of the event goes smoothly for you and your team.
Jimmy at ACH is awesome!! He saved my butt too when we broke a bolt off in the shock mount. Drilled it out and cleaned up the thread and we were back in business in about 20 minutes!!
He really showed how good his engines really are to be able to handle what that engine did without oil. Kuddos to the track emergency team for getting to him quickly. Hopefully the car isn't as bad as it looks. It's rare to see such a good attitude when something like this happens. Gotta have much respect for Steve Morris. I would have broken down and cried
Aw, crap! Thank God you're safe, Steve. The Wagon can be repaired, but you only get one life. Thanks to all at ACH for all of their help, that's huge for a shop to redirect that much of their resources to help out like that. Hope to see the Wagon back in top shape soon, but for now, let's get Val and Sugar Momma into first place for their class. Good luck, and godspeed.
That's got to be a SERIOUS table to hold all of those diesel heads! Awesome guys for letting you use the shop to get you going. Hate it about the wagon, but it can be fixed. Glad you're ok, and smiling.
If ever a video encompasses the highs and lows of racing, this is it. From the heartbreak of losing the oil pump (need a Hobbs switch and a big red light!) to the rescue by Jimmy and the great guys at ACH, to the broken trans line at the track. Holy smokes, what a day (or two). Do I remember similar events with broken oil lines? If it's happened more than once, perhaps a review of how the lines are made and materials/parts choices would be wise. Think of the car as an airplane, you want all the components to be "flight worthy".
That safety team was top notch, glad you're okay Steve. Never thought I would see this day. It can be rebuilt and will be. Advanced Cylinder Head was super cool for helping you out using their shop A+++
Glad you're alright Steve, that's always Priority #1. Was looking forward to see what the wagon was going to do this season with all the new upgrades. Will just have to wait a little bit longer because we know you'll be back!
Sorry this happened but I'm glad you're okay. I love the sound of walking across a prepped track and having it try and take your shoes off with each step.
Wow! I was planning on going to bed but thought I would just have a quick look at youtube to see if anything interesting going on. Little did I know. Steve yanks engine, full rebuild, install and crash all in one vid. First off, ACH, you guys rock. The fire response crew. Thank you crew! Steve for being Steve. How you can still be happy and smiling is inspirational to some of us. If we were to swap places I would probably be curled up in a ball crying. This really is one of the best channels on RU-vid.
Good lord Steve, you packed a whole drag n drive worth of drama into a 'casual' test week! Glad to see you're OK! The car isn't in great shape - but it could also be much worse! Sure seems that the recent additions to the engine program have really taken the whole package to another level. At that power level, it's just a matter of time before something goes wrong, and having resilient parts that can be quickly and easily repaired and the extra protection for them is certainly a major benefit. Especially for the drag n drive stuff. ACH looks like a hell of a shop, I honestly don't know how they manage to do THAT much variety of work and maintain any degree of cleanliness, organization, there's shops that struggle to stay in business even just specializing on a few things. Also, Jimmy reminds me of Mike Murillo lol.
Agreed.. Firstly, glad Steve is ok… but going back to his last vid where Kyle ran it for the first time - he said he shut it off early due trans oil “spraying everywhere” - Then they found the no oil issue.. I wonder if that took their focus off the reason Kyle shut it down that run 🤔
The way the engine was pedalled and then came back into power with high revs but lack of power really reminds me of Tom Bailey's accident. Its sounded the exact same and then boom..though if I remember correctly, Toms accident was from a methanol O ring failure.
Aww, Steve, your wife loves you. Is just glad you weren’t hurt and was ok. And Kyle! Dude rocked the support after the wreck getting that thing together to roll away and was overseeing what all was needed. Great job man. Really am just glad all it was was a banged side and not a banged or burned Steve.
Advanced cylinder heads looks like it's EXTREMELY BUSY as it is now that Steve's promoted them their business is going to be into the stratosphere. Way to help out guys!!!! I'm glad YOUR OK the car CAN BE FIXED. When I see accidents like that AND the driver is out and okay I think IT CAN BE FIXED. Praying sugar momma does good during sick week.
Glad you're okay Steve, sorry we can't say the same for the wagon. From one engine machinist to another, thanks for taking us to class with ACH and what you do back home in Michigan.
I do like how you recognise and support people with different skill sets. When you visit other shops its cool to see you geek out over their tools and toys.
Steve, We are probably more heartbroken about the damage to your beautiful car. Glad you are OK that’s the main thing. Hope you find the reason we will be interested to know. God was watching over you. Love your attitude. Paul & Eve.
Well this video went from being a positive uplifting video of Advance Cylinder Head saving the day. Then it turned into a very sad devastating video with the wagon getting tore up. That could have been way worse than what it was. The rescue squad was on point . Steve thank god you didn’t get hurt!
Glad you are OK, Steve! Agree with the fire truck response time, wow! Everyone was haulin' ass before you were done sliding! Have to echo the thanks to ACH. That was amazing!
Really tough trip! Glad you are ok. Cars can be fixed a whole lot easier than people. The safety crew response time was excellent! Fastest I’ve seen outside the NHRA.
Damn that was crazy how the smoke engulfed the entire cab. Good job of keeping it together, Steve. Few repairs and she'll be good as new! Props to the Emergency teams! I'm buying some merch for the repairs.
Steve what a ride you took all of us on. I had completely forgotten about the ending after the care and comradery you shared with the entire shop and all of you putting the car back together. Then you rolled up and I anticipated another flawless pass as you've done so many time before. I was heart broken fearing for your safety, then seeing the damage done. Thank God for holding you in his hand and keeping you safe. I hope you can put it all aside and focus now on Val & Sugar Momma, keeping the girls safe. Thanks for being such a great roll model for us to look up to. All the respect in the world for you.
Steve I have swapped to crimp hydraulic hoses for equipment on anything to do with transmissions several yrs ago for this reason. I know they are heavier but it's what I'm comfortable with.
First of all, so happy to see that you’re fine and not hurt. The car can be repaired. Hopefully one day you’ll be back and better than ever, and you can figure out why you’re having so much tire shake. Prayers for you and your family.
I have watched you assemble the engines an I'm amazed each time ...the percision which they are machined has to be spot on to make that kinda horsepower but with no oil pressure an so minimal damage ..... wow!!!
Steve one man can not do what you are doing. Hire a "crew chief". You handle the engine, in car tuning and driving. Even that is alot! Your crew chief will be huge in catching these details that set you back. Don't give up you are great for the sport! Ray
@@bobroberts2371 Bothe he & tom Bailey need to do this. Too much rushing to get stuff done. Always gonna bite you. NHRA guys do it by having 6-10 guys.
@@dakotaautosales9673 Do you not understand that the event has not started yet? Do you not understand that car prep should occur prior to the car showing up at the track? Do you not understand that the car runs at other non limited events? Do you not understand that Steve has to personalty run a business and that takes time away from prepping / overseeing the car? Do you not understand that him being stretched thin likely contributed to him NOT installing a trans cover as promised when the line blew off last year ? ( If there was a cover, there would not have been smoke in the car blocking view of the wall. )
I quit racing 25 years ago, and I love watching and learning from you. You are not afraid of sharing knowledge and seeing crews coming along to help you reminded me of "the challenge is on the track, and their is no challenge without competition." So let's help each other and meet on the track. I just went to your site to give hand.
This is why racing at the track is so much safer than on the street...the emergency people didn't waste any time getting to Steve and the wagon to get the fire out and make sure he's ok. Hats off to all involved.
Sounds like a boring life if everything you do you're worried about the safety and if people can rescue you fast enough..Steve is the one who put the fire out with the fire suppression system that's built into the car
I couldn’t believe the response time, it was like seconds and they were on the way. It doesn’t matter if Steve needed help or not, the next one might need help and it’s good to know they’re going to be there for you and it’s good practice for the rescue squad also.
I had a similar situation in my car in 2019. Did a repair and during the run the gasket let go and I got oil under the tire at about the 1/8. I was only doing about 150-160 not 180 like you go. But oil under the tire is the worst possible scenario. I have never had a car get that out of shape that fast ever in my life. There’s basically nothing you can do but hold on and hope you don’t hit the wall. Glad to see your okay. And the cars not completely destroyed. Also it was really cool to see your passion and enthusiasm for Val getting back in the car and racing again at the beginning of the video. Hope you guys have a really great time on the rest of sick week.
Glad you’re OK Steve, you got to meet some awesome people to get the engine squared away. That’s scary how fast a run can go from awesome to Oh Sh!$. Thanks for the videos.
Glad you're ok, hats off to the safety crew for their response time and the voice in your head that said take all the necessary precautions. It's Much easier for Steve Morris to replace a car than it is for the universe to replace a Steve Morris ☮
Glad your ok after that incident, the fire suit did its job as expected but after working around molten metals for many years I would recommend you look into the Kevlar undergarments which will give you some more time if needed to get away from any flames. Nobody plans on crashing but the added protection is well worth the money.
Knew you were out of sick week, but didn't know why. Heartbreaking that your out after so much effort, but so glad you came out of that ok. Cars can be replace or repaired. I think you had mentioned putting a cover on that trans at one point, and you've blown a few lines now...might be time for that cover. Best of luck with your wife and Sugar Mama for the event.
