I think the Crassus should be in consideration for this trick. Puts a lot more toughness in front of your fragile squad, and still has the Fire Support rule.

60+80+55*2+55+60*2=605 Assuming you load up the Crassus all the way. The dang thing doesn't even have a firing deck. If you want to really meme it out; all 23 models fit inside a bane hammer.

@@piecho99 absolutely but you’d miss out on the re-roll hits ability from the Scions if using the firing deck wouldn’t get the re-roll wounds from the vehicle ability (Crassus or Taurox Prime)… but you get the firing deck benefit which is still nice

This actually works and works well. I have tried this in 4 games now, with two 10 man squads loaded to the gills, 2 command squads with 4 special weapons, and 1 psyker in each squad. They both dropped a terminator squad with leftover fire. I definitely recommend taking an Enginseer for the Crassus though.

I'm literally planning out a Tzeenchian traitor guard army utilizing scions and psykers 😂 this video just made the commitment easier. Also if you make the militarum tempestuous command squad your warlord scions become battleline troops

With the tempestus prime also giving the squad sustained hits and an ogrin bodygaurd to lend the unit extra durability (7 wounds with slabshield, 4+ invuln from the psyker and 6+FNP from the command squad), i feel like this combo is a pretty good one to toss in a Crassus. That is quite a lot of daka with 3 plasma and 3 HSVG or meltas and a grenade launcher and the ripper gun, thats quite a lot of daka with full rerolls to hit and wound.

Try my party bus AKA "The Magic Scholam Bus". 2 primaris psykers and a chimera using the firing deck. Hazardous tests apply to the chimera as the weapon is fired by the vehicle. More wounds, fast and no in-and-out of transport to trigger rerolls. If you have Lord Solar and some sentenels already it can be boosted. All for just 190pts. I have used it and it works.

The scion command squad with 5 guys and a psyker gets even better if you add drill commander.

Only negative is the drill commander ability doesn’t kick in when you get out of the vehicle… so then you can’t pair that with the re-roll wound part. Still useful for the turn after getting out of the vehicle if you can remain stationary to hold the objective (and use the Psyker for the 4++ invul and cmd squad for an order)

It would still be a lot of Lethal hits in subsequent rounds. Makes it more sustainable damage than a one round wonder.

Being tied to the taurox seems to defeat the purpose of building the combo. The goal is to make a high threat unit that gets into the places vehicles can't. Certainly cool if you just want a more scion themed threat though.

You can certainly run the squad without the taurox and deepstrike from reserve. The taurox prime gives your squad reroll to wound rolls, which helps the primaris psyker fish for dev wounds.

I like it, it's just a lot of investment. 5 Scions, Scion Command, Psyker and Taurox Prime is 285 points. That's a Rogal Dron +25 pts or 3 Armored Sentinels +75 pts. It's any Leman Russ +~100 pts. Still, it could be a pretty strong variant of your Armoured list I think, more of a hybrid list: 3x -- 5 Scions, Scion Command, Psyker, Taurox Prime 855 3x -- 10 Cadian Shock Troops, 1 Chimera 405 1x -- Tank Commander w. Grand Strategist 220 1x -- Manticore 150 2x -- Leman Russ Battle Tanks 360 -------- 1990 pts. Edit: Could change the Manticore to a Basilisk and one of the Russes to another Tank Commander if you wanted more Squadron Officers.

I think in a mixed Guard list you might take one Prime, with one of these units as an objective clearer. Anything beyond will probably cost too much in relation to board control tools. It's a pretty pricey combo, at the end of the day. In a pure Scion army I see no reason not to go all out this.

@@sairence It's possbile, but if you've seen Mordian's video on his Mechanized army this has as many infrantry units and those 3 Scion units pack as much punch as a Rogal Dorn and in some cases MUCH more. They of course don't have anywhere near the staying power of a Dorn, so if you disembark them where multiple units can fire at them, they're dead. 3 units like that may well be too much, but it was just a quick OTOH list. 🙂

Mordian Glory I’m looking to run scions and If you want to dial this up to 11 but still runs cheaper than the command squad version. You have two options. 2x primaris psyker 1x PS & greyfax for anti psyker 4+ unit wide helping vs deamons and other army’s shes also have some good dev wounds that help with the RR Wounds 1x PS and either draxus anti infantry 4+ on her gun with dev wounds great with RRs and unshootable in 18” Or 1x PS & Inquisitor Coteaz as he gives you some CP regen potential and d6 anti infantry 4+ D2 dev wounds as well Let me know you thoughts as I have a inquisitor list using scions and some kaskrin with melta mines to mortal wound tanks out to help even out the melta and plasma wounding vehicle on 5

I think there's a lot of potential here. The command squad + 5 man + psyker could easily form the basis of an all-scions list, but slotted into a more traditional guard list I don't think it fits. It's just too costly. However a more dense unit of 5 Scions + 2x Psyker in a Taurox or 10 Scions + 2x Psyker in a Taurox starts to look manageable for the output. The only reason to really consider going 10 instead of 5 is for Overwatch protection in my opinion, the goal is to deliver 2 psykers to the target. 2d6+6 Blast, reroll hits, reroll wounds, dev wounds is an absolutely disgusting slap, and I think it's the most efficient form of this package. I think this provides a particularly dangerous threat from the Guard, albeit a fragile one. Even discounting the dev wounds, this could be combined with a Russ Exterminator + Fields of Fire to reach some very high AP shooting.

"This unit can have up to two Leader units attached to it, provided no more than one of those units is a Command Squad unit. If it does, and this Bodyguard unit is destroyed, the Leader units attached to it become separate units, with their original Starting Strengths" You can have the two psykers in one unit. The limitation is that you cannot have more than one command squad in the same unit

The primaris psyker has devastating wound on his psychic attack. The tempestor prime (part of the command squad) gives substain hit to the unit it leads.

You should of told people to take plasma weapons on their scions. You make all hazardous rolls at 1 time and you the controlling player get to choose who dies after you see how many 1’s are rolled. So overcharge 2 plasma pistols and overcharge the Psycher roll a 1 out of 3 dice kill a plasma guy.

One of the benefits of having a scion command squad with the unit is the medic that gives the 6+ FNP… gives you a chance to save the mortals caused by hazardous if you do roll the dreaded 1 on the test
