I'm not really a fan of the gold leaf on food thing, it doesn't add anything to the flavour and is often just an excuse for places to charge a LOT more. However, that amount of food, and cooked as well as Danny says it was, for £45 is a pretty good bargain.
That's actually cheap! Don't know the quality of the meat, but at a regular restaurant your pay like £70-90 easy. They mostly sell it as a 2 person meal. When I buy my meat raw, black angus, I already pay £56 per kg. And still have to cook it. I can't imagine them earning a lot on a 1,5kg tomahawk for that money...
@@stefanvanderklink6864 If standard yield grades, select would be considerably less cost to the restaurant than choice, right?. Angus program attempts to do away with traditional yield grades and some may name marketing for Angus popularity. In the US / USDA, Black Angus beef could be harvested and be what's measured but *still* adhere to our system of traditional yield grades. CAB or Certified Angus Beef program has moved to present a *new* grading standard that may be useful or may present well-funded marketing that we can count on or maybe not count on....kinda depends on personal experience imo. One debate is that The CAB program can blur the lines where classic yield grades are traditional and tighter expectations.
the golden thing is the bait for young kids and people who want to talk about that to their friends , to me I would pay to have it off jajaja, and yes if the food is fine it's a bargain , any good take away burger or pizza order goes up to 25 quid
Unlike other expensive ingredients or garnishes-like caviar or truffle oil , edible gold adds nothing to a meal other than, quite literally, pound signs. In short, 24K Gold is completely edible, but it's not absorbed by the body and passes through without any negative or positive effects. It's just used for aesthetic qualities and because it symbolizes wealth.
Agree ⬆. The gold leaf is a show and doesn't add to anything but appearance. Nonetheless, I'd rather be forced to eat gold leaf than truffle oil. At least for a blind man, the leaf won't ruin the food where the truffle oil is often misused and misunderstood. Both have seen days in spotlight long ago and no longer worth their weight spent .....if ever they were.
10:17 oh lordy lmao Danny, when you paid £50 for that seafood meal in Manchester and people were saying it's a rip-off, this is why. Compare this meal to that and there is no comparison. This one's worth more than what you paid. If they left off the gold, then maybe it would be a fiver cheaper, that would make it just £40. A 1.5 KG steak is 3.3 lbs and since half a lb feeds 1 person, in steak alone that meal feeds 6.6 people. Divide that £45 bill by 6 people and it's £7.50 each but look at what else you also got with the steak. *Easily worth it this time.* Arguably a bargain in fact. We love you Danny you're a legend.
The gold leaf on the steak has been popularized by Salt Bae (ridiculously high priced restaurant/food for people that have run out of ideas what to do with their money to spend it on, a gold leaf tomahawk at his restaurant costs £800+🤔). I think, without the gold leaf (which is so thin, that it's not expensive at all), the dish would've been better. I'm not a fan of such unnecessairy frivolities, but the steak and everything else in the dish looks absolutely delicious and of high quality. Greetings from the Netherlands! 😁👍
this is probably about 5 quid worth of gold leaf, maybe less. £45 for all this food is pretty good. I agree I'd be more interested in buying it if it didn't have the gold leaf.
That guy is a complete douchebag and for some reason people have just recently discovered that. His entire act screamed stupidity and fake and here we are. smh!
Yup, I don't want the gold leaf either. I'd rather higher quality steak if it's going to cost more. I'd almost be inclined to ask if they offer their steaks with foils composed of different elemental metals. Can I have a tomohawk prettied up with sodium metal please?
The Grandfather Steak House located in Scunthorpe has made significant changes to its menu. We would like to inform you that there are many types of wraps with steaks, many types of burgers and also baguettes, let's not forget that we have also introduced the platters for 2 people (the beef platter, the tomahawk platter, the gold tomahawk platter, the lamb platter and the platter with chicken) All are absolutely delicious.
My mouth was watering watching you eat that steak, Danny. It definitely looked worth the price. What a great meal! Also I thought it was so funny when Camerman woke you up from your little snooze. Great editing too, just as you say you don't mind waiting the next shot is after you've dozed off, then that kick of the table and your face. So funny. Thanks for this great piece of film-making. 🤣😀👍
The French term for seafood is fruits de mer. It translates literally to ''fruit of the sea'' in English. The term is used to refer to fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and more so there wasn’t a printing error just a different turn of phrase 😊Your meal looked delicious by the way!
Hi , I'm Mario from " The Grandfather Steakhouse " To be honest with you all, I was expecting more reviews. I'm just telling you this, all I wanted was for it to be a cheap idea that many of you only see on TV. We wanted it to be something spectacular that most people could afford. If you think it's easy to have a takeaway and offer top quality food for little money, you're wrong. We sell you a 5-star meal that you only find in luxury restaurants and is affordable even for minimum wage. The quality can be even better than in many high-end restaurants, but I leave it up to you to decide if, of course, come and taste! Good evening to all!
It's only been 2 days since the video was put up mate. Rate My Takeaway give a darn good review of your food. Food does look scrumptious I must say but the asparagus looked a bit burnt lol. He told people to come to your restaurant/takeaway what more do you want? It's all free advertising for you JMO
Danny I've been following your channel for a while. What a great idea you had, buy a large warehouse or building and put several if not dozens of highly rated take away joints. You'd have to have a big parking lot for all the cars. Kind of one stop shopping for restaurants take away....great idea.Keep the great videos coming enjoy watching. Thanks from Canada.
I believe there are already those in existence around the world including presumably in the UK. Many of them are indoor food-truck venues that can rotate their businesses.
£399 for a 1.1kg Tomahawk from that chancer in London, to be fair though you do get added hair and skin cells as he rolls salt down his arm onto your plate.
Owner has commented and said he thought there would more reviews. Danny is the 1 who does the reviewing and he gave it a very good review. People will only review if they watch this video and have eaten this particular meal too.
Your bang on would the same meal be served to a member of the public whom was not as known as Danny, and 1 hour to prepare food he must have drove to the butcher for steak and the market for the rest 👍@@MissX905
L45 is less than $56! Granted, the food is served in foil trays and Danny is eating outside... but it's still an astounding deal. I would expect to pay TWICE that much for just the steak!
You are spot on mate. That would cost you at least $250 in New York, and granted the beef might be of a higher grade, and possibly "dry aged" [which is often just faked anyway]. Astonishing value for money.
@@blackbob3358 - WTF are you even talking about? And as I've asked you quite a few times before, why the hell do you always refer to people by the numeric component of their handle? Doing that is by the far the only asinine thing here! 😂
Yes it looks good, but if he was a chef preparing this meal, the plate wouldn’t have all those starches on it. The vegetables are a free for all with one starch. I would fall into a diabetic come if I ate the rice/beans, potatoes and a serving of rice before I got up from the table. Good thing there wasn’t any bread on the plate.
I never understood the gold leaf thing. I'd prefer not to have heavy metals passing through my intestinal tract. That said, for what you paid, this seems like a pretty good deal. Maybe I could get a discount without the gold?
About 1/20th of the price of Salt Bae's restaurants (he charges a grand for a gold steak) and probably just as nice! Looks so nice and probably enough to feed a family!
Sea fruit is not a mistake just not correctly translated. All things like crabs, clams, oysters, winkles, whelks, prawns etc are called plateau de fruits de mer (FR), or frutti di mare in italian. So it should be Fruit of the sea like you've actually stated later on in the video. :)
In Dutch we also use the term “zeevruchten”, which literally translates to “sea fruits”. I’m kinda surprised actually, finding out the English language doesn’t use such a term.
lots of channels now starting to copy you. I still only watch yours. Keep it up. You're an endearing fellow and your reviews appear to be so genuine. Been a loyal sub for a while now. 😊
Gold can be pounded out to several molecules thick . While gold leaf looks expensive and fancy, it adds nothing to flavor, is not digestible, and doesn't really cost much. It's a gimmick. The gold on the steak is less than 1 pound-sterling cost.
Shame what danny gets served is not reflective of the menu.....for 45 quid you can only pick one side ...fries /vegatable / rice...same with the sauces only one sauce.... If you want what danny had its more like £55 😢
Gold leaf is a complete waste of money. Paying for something with no taste and no nutritional value. You might as well collect it the other end and sell it back to them ( clean it first though) 😂
High end steak take-aways eh? Well the channel is about showing us all sorts of take aways, so as surprised as I am to see, it's here (well done Danny). Wonder how long it has been open and how long it will last.... Menu price & layout says 12 months..... £45 and 3 crappy foil trays 😅😅😅😅 The steak, which looked very nicely cooked was in my opinion partially ruined by the somewhat tacky/cheap looking gold leaf. The Au factor is not necessary this time.... If you are spending near £50 on a steak, just go to a restaurant instead..? PS - give him a steak knife not a chefs knife, he could get arrested on the street for that !
Bro the same gold leaf is used all over it's not the gold leaf I think it's just the way it is on meat because I've had it on deserts before and it looks nicer on backlava and other types of cake
Looks amazing and well worth the money . Hopefully they make enough money to upgrade to a restaurant in the future . Only problem it's in Scunthorpe , who goes to Scunthorpe ?
I have never eaten here ,but I do know people who have and they all say the foods fantastic.I will be in Scunthorpe in the next month and I’m ready to go there.
And it goes without saying that if any customer does not want to be gold plated, we will honor their request. The gold leaf is not mandatory for those who do not want it
Good looking meal, big Tomahawk Steak. Sides good. Price ok I suppose, not sure of meat prices in UK, being from OZ. A bought a tomahawk like that but no gold, lol, from my butchers the other week it was AU$32, about 15 quid. Took ages to cook it. Overall for your meal 8/10.
😱😱 2 words ..Holy Moly .. He wasnt giving any of this away to anyone like in the last blog. Not bad not bad 👌👊 but worth trying other things aswell om the menu seeing this ..like a none gold steak . Never seen or heard of it. Another great place and content 👊😁keep it up crew . Massive respects everytime❤❤xx
He arranged to be there at a time when people were not passing on the street, especially the homeless who would want some of his expensive steak. I agree with him as I find that passersby who interrupt the vlogging are inconsiderate and selfish.
Looks different class to. Last Sundays £50 fish box That box of food you hardly touched and gave it a 10 rating ;but this. Food you had a good bit of and enjoyed and looked much better value
