@@_D_E_N_N_I_S_ he doesn’t get the level of criticism that Nick does. This year he has raised his batting average quite a bit, but last year, he struck out a ton and had a much lower batting average, even though given the number of times he’d been walked, his in base average was still quite good. Regardless, there were critics who insisted he had no business leading off. For a lot of people, reasonably so, he simply doesn’t fit the mold of what a lead off hitter looks like. Sure seems to work for the Phillies. Either way, most of the criticism was to simply move him back in the lineup, I think most people knew he’d go to DH once Harper could play 1rst day in day out.

He contributes more than he’s given credit for by the general fan base and he has come through and driven home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth at least three times this season, that’s clutch. He’s an asset in right field and as a mentor to younger players. The guy deserves some respect. Doesn’t mean as a fan you can’t want to see him traded, but the man deserves respect. Casty is an interesting guy. I read some stupid comment about him on an FB forum how he’s a terrible interview. Couldn’t be farther from the truth. He’s quite insightful, very well spoken and he speaks his mind. He’s got a broad perspective towards the game, his future and how it fits into his life. I believe he’s got a relatively new addition to his family. Liam was at the game last night. Those things very much seem to matter to him. So I expect him to settle in and play better. Showing the guy some love and support certainly can’t hurt, I think he already appreciates the fans here and tunes into the energy at CBP. Simply having his boy at the games while summer is here, being able to share that experience and be the kind of father he wants to be- my guess is he’s going to be able to relax into his game at the plate.

The city needs to embrace Castellanos. He catches so much shade. Whatever the numbers are saying, he’s valuable to the team.

Baseball is a game where you have to deal with failing 70% of the time, if you are great. I played many years and it can get in your head. When Nick is interviewed you can see that he is a deep thinker and that can be your worst enemy sometimes in this game. Hopefully he is getting his head out of the way and let those quick hands do the job. Easier said than done.

@Rytoast99

I mean they are over .500 against teams that are over .500. They lost the Series to the Orioles 1-2, which is the only serious contender they have played this season. Suarez pitched good as per usual this season and they were able to win it in extras even when the bullpen failed them. Game 2 was Walkers start and it was his usual performance and the loss was expected. Game 3 Wheeler had the statistically worst start of his career so not much you can do about that, sometimes that just happens to good pitchers. They were also on a 12 day road trip including time in London for that series, a road trip that happened 5 home games after a west coast road trip of 10 games. They also played that Orioles while missing 3/9 of their starting lineup including a 2 superstars in Turner and Realmuto, and their best OF defender in Marsh. I am saying all this because if they managed to win that series against the Orioles, it wouldve been very impressive for the Phillies and embarrassed for the Orioles. I am aware the Orioles are missing some pitchers but we only faced 1 of the replacements and they are having a better year than Walker is anyway. This Phillies team is legit period
@thejorobal
@thejorobal 9 дней назад
@@Rytoast99right. People wanna find a reason to shit on the Phillies and say they should beat a +.500 team. But there’s only a few tbh. I mean what else do we need to do. We swept the brewers. The former World Series champs. About to sweep the padres again. Like damn. Ok sorry we lost a couple on the road series but shitt why can’t the haters just recognize that we’re killing it
@LegoMan1932
@LegoMan1932 9 дней назад
The only problem I have with this team is there performance on the road they don’t seem to do well which could be taken as a good and bad thing if they do win the nl this year they are basically setting themselves for a World Series win but in the playoffs you also gotta win away and you need to perform both at home and away
@thejorobal

Heard. But only as of late. Just gotta take it for what it is and still appreciate that we have been shattering records and were the best team in baseball for a hot minute and are still the second best team and like 10 games up in our division. Can’t win them all. But we’re doing fantastic

@masterchief247
@masterchief247 9 дней назад
They keep focusing on Schwarber hitting homeruns. They need to stop that. They will be better off with him batting .260 to .270 with 30hrs and 100 rbi's rather then him batting .200 with 45 hrs. His average being up 70 pts over last year at this point is the real story here, that will help them win the world series. They don't need his homers. They need him on base and putting the ball in play.
@thejorobal
@thejorobal 9 дней назад
🤨. So he’s just not supposed to hit homers? That’s not a good thing? No one’s taking away from the fact that he’s leading the nl in walks and his batting average is way up from last year. We understand that. I don’t know why homers shouldn’t be a good thing or a talking point as well tho ..
@masterchief247
@masterchief247 9 дней назад
@@thejorobal For the last two years, he has tried to hit home runs at the expense of his average. Right now, he's just focusing on a level swing. If he hits a home run, its a natural result of a good solid swing. The last couple years, he's sacrificed this just to hit a home run. You have to understand, all these talking heads have 1 on 1 interaction with these players on a regular basis. Up until the last several days, they were speaking of Schwarber as if something was wrong because at that point, it was middle of June, and he only had 3 home runs. Although, he has been still getting hits and driving in runs. If they keep filling his head that becuase he doesn't have 10 hrs in June already, pretty soon he's gonna start TRYING to hit home runs again. Then his strikeouts will go up, and his average down. THAT is what im saying.
