For those who keep asking, the lights will turn off automatically once your car goes into deep sleep, since the power to the 12v outlet will also turn off in deep sleep. Just make sure you have Sentry mode set to disable when you are at home or at a favorite location. Keeping Sentry mode on keeps the car always awake, thus power always stays on to the 12v outlet You can also just turn off the lights remotely using the app on your iPhone.
That''s stil a lame solution, you need both sentry mode ON, and LEDs to go OFF automagically. There has to be a way to accomplish this through the OBD interface, based on what is on/off in the car the LED strip should be off. But this is not one of those kits.
Hey Mike. Since it’s been a few years I’m wondering with all the new kits on the market if you have a favorite out now. Something with footwell and strips. So many out there now it’s hard to decide. Looks like a lot you can hook in to power a rear ac instead of all in the armrest. And a lot have auto off and on as well.
Got my M3 LR about 3 months ago and had to go out of town for work for a month! Can’t wait to get back home to start doing some cool things. Thanks for the lighting update! I just subscribed.
I want to put these on for my 2024 model y but I only see them available from 2021-2023 do you think it’s possible they could fit for a 2024 or is there another version of these you can recommend
How are these holding up now ? I’d like to get these but am hesitant due to thinking once the summer comes and the car sits in the heat, that glue holding the wires on the seat backs will come right off.
Hey there thanks for putting up yet another great video. I was wondering if you could comment on a couple concerns I have read in various comments. How well does the 3m tape work? Do you feel it is sticky enough or should a better brand be purchased for this. second, I already replaced my food lights with a different color so i wont be wanting to install any of the foot lights. Is it possible to do that or is it required for the install? Lastly, I notice all the videos of the installation show the wire on the dash being installed by the vents. I was wanting to install it along the curve closer to the windshield. Is there enough clear wire for this? Cheers!
Got the same kit, main issue is there is no lighting visible during daytime, do you find that you have the same problem? Trying to figure out a way to possibly brighten them.
Will this make the battery shorter on the tesla? I am really debating if I should buy it or not if it will significantly shorten the battery per charge.
Unfortunately no, since teslas are constantly powered by the battery the lights will stay on when you exit the car unless you use the switch to turn them on and off. Plus you wouldn’t want them turning on during the day!
Hi Mike Just took delivery of my Model 3 and installed the light strips today. Question though… how did you route to center counsel? Can’t figure out an easy way to get them all in without interfering with it closing. Feel like I need to disassemble and drill an access hole near the bottom side out of sight.
I don't understand one thing... the light under your feet in front, isn't the original one already present? putting the colored ones, how do they work? do they replace the original ones? or the original ones must be eliminated,
I like this kit however some of the lights i find to be "Too much" wil it work if i dont connect some - such as the run across the dash? (Just personal preference - love your videos)
I really want these lights. But I am afraid to install them. It looks easy but I know I will screw it up installing them. I will have to find someone to do it for me.
Hi Mike, are 1) lights going to automatically turn off after we lock the car (because I hope not to press the switch manually)? If not, how many minutes after will it turn off? 2) Did the dashboard piece stick well? Did it fall off due to the air conditioner? thank you so much!!!
Unfortunately since the power is always on in the tesla the lights will stay on if you leave the car. You’ll need to press the button, but it’s super simple just one click right in the center console! And yes the lights stick well, my previous set has been on for a year with no issues when using AC or heat. The new set is holding up well also!
The lights are LED so they are very energy efficient, I only use them at nice and haven’t noticed any negative effects on range, been using them for over a year!
I love the white interior, I feel it makes the car feel much more spacious and brighter giving it a fresh feeling. The white seats come coated with protection and is very easy to maintain. After over a year my seats still look brand new!
I have the model 3 standard range plus. Will it work just as well in my car? I do not have footwell lights that seem to work. I think they're turned off by software.
As always, another great video. Well done Mike! Not only very informative, but well produced. I would love to see a video comparing your former Tesla light system with your new Nestour system. I installed a Basenor in my Tesla, but never use the features (like changing to the music) largely because the app (Lotus Lantern) is so bad. You have me thinking of making a switch too. Keep up the great work and useful content!
Hey it’s pretty much the same except the quality of the strips and lighting is improved. The app is basically a generic repurposed app but I’ve had no complaints with the old or new versions
How do you feel about the inconsistency with the amount of light you get from the end where the light is actually coming from to the middle to the other end?
On the new kit it’s a huge improvement, you can’t really tell on video but it’s evenly lit from end to end, the problem is where the wire bends it creates a color difference at each end =\ im thinking to add black electrical tape to each end to prevent it 🤔
@@MikeSeuss I definitely feel like if I’m going to spend $100 I should at least get led strips with those translucent strips to even out the lights. Thanks for the video man !
Hey fam. I would get it right away, but I’m in Canada, and they’re not on our website here and buying them from Amazon US shipping is ridiculous. I’ll keep watching Amazon Canada for it tho.🙏🏾
Not sure why the app has two stars it works perfectly fine to me, I think it’s a universal app used for all different kinds of LED products that’s probably why
Hello, when I put the led strip around the console, I have the impression that my sliding cover of the storage space in the front closes more difficult because the silver edge is pressed against the cover by the led strip. so scratches can occur because it sands. did you not experience that?
Hey, I haven’t experienced this at all, had two sets of strips since last year. I’m not sure why it’s happening to you, have you been able to resolve the issue?
Hello, i will check it tomorrow what i can do. 2 LED strips were delivered. 1 for the center console and 1 for my dashboard. does it make a difference which strip you use? could that be the problem? the sides were easy to place, the front and the corners I had to press hard.
I was curious about the performance of these lights for the Tesla I've recently ordered and waiting delivery on. Have you looked into the Govee Car lights by chance as well? You won't get all of the trim lighting, but I feel like the LED performance for the foot wells it provides might be much brighter. They also make an exterior kit!
Bought these based on a bunch of Tesla RU-vidr reviews. These are absolute TRASH! The led / neon glow strips are dim as hell and look like crap! Why are you promoting these?
Not sure which ones you bought but I’ve had mine installed for years and even until this day they look great. You can see exactly how mine look in the video. I’m obviously promoting them because I really like them.
