"What was Poland thinking when they named they country this?" That is very common issue, with native English speakers, when they find "funny names" of other countries, cities, etc. We never called out country Poland, we called it Polska. It was You! (native English speakers) who called our country Poland ;) Same comes to the name Pole, we do not call ourselves like this. So I can bounce back the question. Why have you called our country Poland and calling us Poles? :P I understand it was a joke, but i see such way of thinking so often, I deciden to finally try to educate at least one person ;)

In Polish, pole means field. A polish person is Polak in Polish - a field dweller. Since we are talking about Slavic things, I think the Bosnian meme is located in 43.8428758, 18.3581667 (1:49) Buvljak means flea market Nova means new Pijaca means an open air market - derived from the Italian Piazza

In Serbo-Croatian, Poljak is a Polish person - there is no negative connotation to it - it's very similar to the Polish Polak since Serbo-Croatian is a Slavic language. Unrelated, but Turk is used negatively in the Balkans, even though it's just a term for an ethnicity and it shouldn't have any negative meaning - hundreds of years of contact/interaction/warring probably explains that.

Fun fact, the word meme comes from Greece and talks about mimetism (something that is replicated and spreads) and as latin borrowed it from greek it got passed down to the romance language. Hence the French also use the word meme, and it can either mean "a meme" or "same". Ex: C'est la même chose -> It's the same thing Also they take out the accent ^ when talking about "a meme"
