Reduced frame rate is pretty realistic. They depend on refresh rate IRL. Yes there are CQC thermal sights as well. Holosun has one in development and i think Steiner has one thats available to the public and maybe L3 has a Military only version.
@@StriderPFThough irl the reduced frame rate is still 30-60 fps for the sight. Ingame is 15, it's really not a problem after like 15 minutes of getting used to it but the only issue is that after an hour of sniping with it and boom migraine.
I feel like the best way to use it is to use the thermal to find targets then turn it off when firing. It’s not really built for your more aggressive play style, more for long range sniper duels and constant changes in shooting positions. Great video
Thermal is especially strong on night time maps, paired with a flash hider or suppressor and a range finder you can easily rack kills from the darkness without ever (or close to) having to worry about getting spotted by enemies at range. It's an alright medium range optic too without the FLIR on, tho the glowing sights might sometimes get a bit in the way of what you are aiming at so it takes a bit time to get used to it. I'd say it is definitely a good go to unlock for any recon that want to widen their range of use for the class. Just being able to easily spot any troops on the ground alone makes for easy recon work to relay to your teammates as a quick glance of the scope will tell you if theres anyone. (Because if you aren't actively killing enemies, you should be doing what the class is named after lol) My only advice is to switch the keybind for the toggle. Seeing its close to Tab, a slight mistake might have you frozen for a second while the scoreboard loads lol
I think the best use case for a thermal is night obviously, but if you struggle sometimes with enemy player/game awareness it can be really nice to have the ene my players be more pronounced on your scope. I’m glad there are trade-offs and it’s not just a direct upgrade to other scopes.
The "low frame rate" is actually really realistic. Most thermal/night vision scopes irl need to take I little bit of time to read the data then display it into the scope
thermal cameras can't tell the exact temperature of the sun, the heat radiation coming from the sun has to travel all the way to us - and then is scattered by the atmosphere. That's why planets with thin to no atmosphere can often be very very hot, due to the fact they've got no atmosphere to stop the heat radiation from just battering the planet. The idea of climate change (I mean the warming of the planet in this case) is based on this very idea. As we release more gases that are better at trapping heat in the atmosphere, it increases the overall temperature of the planet.
I use it on night maps. Yesterday i had a 40+ - 3 game. Its pretty good if used right, frame rate is honestly not a problem and i love the battery drain as a balancing mechanic.
I pretty much had the same reaction when trying the thermal the first time, its crazy how many players you see. But playing at 10 fps is not fun so i never used it again
A good way to use the FLIR is actually to spot for other snipers as a squad. It doesn't get you any extra XP, but you can find targets for people with better scopes very quickly.
You gotta try it on lonovo night. It’s absolutely insane how many people are just wandering around that you can get. I run l96 with the flir sight, rangefinder, and a long suppressor to hide flash and it feels unfair.
I use Infrared 100% of the time. After a couple thousand kills with it, the only gripe I have is that if you ADS into someone using any Flashlight or Laser Attachment you will be completely blinded no matter the distance. Base on my experiences about 10-15% of players run one of these Attachments on Day Maps. Regardless I still run it, I feel like I have legal ESP with it equipped. It has netted me too many plays that wouldn't be possible without it.
Thermal scope is good for spotting, but I can't hit anything since the reticle is blurry, which makes it fill the Gap in reticle and in turn make it hard to aim with
The FPS in the thermal vision being lower is realistic and makes sense. Only the FPS inside the scope slows down, and that's because the FPS through any real thermal scope will have lower FPS
not sure if they've implemented this, but if you try to use a thermal scope through a window, it won't work since it's reading the surface temp of the glass
I found out I could do the most with it on dmr rifles and lmgs... The higher firerate helps out with the bad corsshair. If u find a good spot on nighttime urban maps you can do pretty much whatever u want
One thing I like about sniping in this game is that there is no set load out for every situation. Like for example I use the flir on night maps with a rangefinder, and a suppressor to terrify enemy snipers. But when furgus comes up I swap out to another scope, and AP mines since there's a building I like to make a nest in. Then on the cago ship map I swap out to c4 because I like to go in to enemy territory and quietly snipe at them from their side and vehicles like to stop near me to shoot at the ship so I sneak up and blow them up.
a tip thats unrelated to this video is that if you see an enemy anti-personel mine it means that enemies could likely be close since they despawn when you die unlike claymores that only despawn once you've reached your limit.
Hey Strider! I have a suggestion for your previous video on CTF vehicle killing. If you spawn as RU, and go to the bottom middle enemy spawn, there's a few angles where you can see the enemy ATVs spawn. With 1 RPG, you can kill 2-3 ATVs at a time. This will net you 3700-5600 XP per RPG round. Try it out!
I have issues with my vision and when im focusing my contacts get fucked up...my eyes shake basically... the thermals help me to spot much easier and keep track.
this is so funny because I had just unlocked this scope for the L96 today and I joined a river night server and decided to try it out and tbh, for nighttime maps it's pretty op.
im a sniper main myself and i only run the thermal scope on night maps as the heat signatures show up brighter. But if ur wanting a optimal setup for a sniper u want to be using the m200 with ranger barrel as its the only sniper that can 1 shot supports with a head shot even if they have armour there. my optimal setup for a sniper is TLI x32 scope, ranger barrel, vertical grip, range finder, using that on any sniper is perfect but just cause the m200 can zero in at 1400m baseline where the others can only zero in at 1000m except the ssg which is 500m. it makes it the best sniper imo. my best kill game with the Flir was 132-2 on a night map but best thing to do on night maps is go long suppressor cause u become completely invisible.
Although I've stopped using the FLIR sight ever since i got the cross sight whatever it's called, but the FLIR is amazing at night with the l96 but it's rare to get a night map anyways.
I don't think game does any heat simulations, that would take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much processing power for single scope and I think it just makes it so through scope you see alternative set of textures, or the scope could just display grayscale picture but is has code to replace texture only on player models at least that's how I'd do it in game
So it's excellent on night maps, and fairly good if you are unsure of where ppl are and target identification. The issue is 300m or more shots become very floaty and really hard to hit head shots as there isn't many pixels to work with and the first shot kick, even with the L96, is so bad that targets are hard
grinding to the Flir is usually my goal when playing with a different g un. Have it on almost every SMG and rifle I use regularly. I have yet to get into sniping though.
I have a love-hate relationship with the thermal sight. I think its cool that its more realistic and that they used that to help balance it, but I think its a little overtuned and its harder to use with automatic weapons where you need to continuously track your targets. I appreciate that they didnt want it to be overpowered but I actually think it needs a buff a bit lowkey.
I had to go try it. I think if you are having one of those matches where you cant see anyone its pretty good. I was able so somewhat hit shots with it.
@@StriderPF I was surprised how many people I was not seeing when I turned it on, I thinks its nice to have in your back pocket and obviously for night maps.
I like the thermal but I HAAATE the clutter in the sight. way to many markings to really see clearly what you're aiming at when something is decently far away. given that it is white marks on white heat signatures. Honestly my only real gripe that and it doesn't work at night. Thought it would but nope.
sniper only player, I personally only use flir for night maps or as an additional bit of kit to red dot/iron sights for cqc and just stay canted. also good for foggy maps and smoke nades, but that's more niche.
you should definetly get points for destroying claymores and stuff. Also I think the heli pilot xp should be a lot more. Right now you only get like 25% of you passengers kill xp and none of their vehicle xp. My friend was flying me around while I shot down vehicles and I had like 5x the points as him. I feel like it should be at least half.
Idk bro I ran a Blackhawk for a full game one time and ended up 0/0 with like 70k points, probably 4-5th on the scoreboard. I actually had a team that would fill the copter in spawn though. It was on isle I think.
@@dumbcrumb879 ah, yeah I think that the little bird transport can be kind of underpowered especially with how fast it can go down. I guess it is way faster but it's alot harder to safely make a drop.
Its a shame you cant run scopes with NV on so u have to use this thermal scope. Low frame rates annoying even if its realistic this games not that realistic anyway why bother. If it was realistic one bullet would kill to the face but most guns do not kill in one shot.
I wonder how real world works but knowing game balance. Plus I due notice lag since shader render camera. How about try night time game. I wonder how hard since you need night vision but can't use in sniper scope.
If you are fine with playing with 20 fps that sight is still garbage imho. Its not like battlebit has complex geometry or something that could hide players
