I love my old Warn 8274 High Mount Winch, especially since changing my car's winch system over to 24v. But I wanted to try something new & so the options were a GigglePin GP100, a Red Winch Hornet II or a Red Winch Cobra II. Trying to fit the GP or Hornet would mean I had to modify the front bar to fit them and so I decided on a Red Winch Cobra II. Let's install it and try it out!

Awesome mate! Hey on 15:27 can you tell more about how you installed the winch rope? And does it mean that when a winch man is pulling rope and can't see how much is left in the drum, once it reaches that point, you effectively stop any more rope from spooling out? I'm keen to know. Thanks mate!

Yeah so it’s a product called “plasma lock” by Red Winch and effectively you’re right, you wrap it over itself and when you put it onto the drum with load it tightens itself on there and I had the whole weight of the car off it with only 1/2 a drum of rope and it was holding the weight of the car quite easily. So yeah you’re Navi might spool rope out, it’ll get to that last 1/2 a drum and it won’t feed anymore out and that last 1/2 a drum is in a tight lock around the drum. 👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah dunno if it’ll pull me through the soup at 61:1 with a single motor, but time will tell! Im just keen to try a few different winches, I’m in the works of setting up a second motor on it too 😂

Thank you dude 🙏🏻 Yeah mate 12v winch. That’s how you get the extra speed. 12v DC motor overvolted to 24v 👍🏻

In my tests (video evidence to support) With no load, just a line speed test with no pulsing on 24v coz yolo Ox motor was almost twice the speed of a bullet motor 😂

Haha yeah nice, that’s understandable the bullets are pretty slow however they’re an amazing motor in terms of putting up with harsh use and very torquey motors. The OX motors have ridiculous rpm. 🙏🏻

They’re “katana” mate, available most places that sell kincrome I believe - they’re a subsidiary of kincrome so trying them out. They actually seem to go alright so far, haven’t broken any and I’ve dropped em a bunch haha,

Why did you paint the intercooler core? Any coating on the surface will negatively affect its ability to dissipate heat.

Just because it was old and ratty and needs replacing anyway, I do somewhat agree, it’s why I’ve never liked the power coated ones by aeroflow which is why I said in the video “if it ruins it I’ll buy another” but it hasn’t run a single degree hotter, my intake temps haven’t changed a bit. 👍🏻
