SHEIN and Aliexpress have been proven to have very dangerous amounts of lead and other harmful chemicals in their clothing. So it’s not even safe to wear secondhand. The CBC did an in-depth investigation on it in 2021 if you’re interested in the source
honestly this happens to me a lot when i go thrifting 😭 like their cute but fit weirdly or would look better at a diff length/ color and i dont end up getting it cuz ik itll jst sit in my closet and ill never actually wear it
@@coraliecoulombe4010 yess always! It makes me so uncomfortable to keep lowering it so that my thighs or butt aren't visible when i bend over. It happens in really few situations, but still I'd just prefer not to worry about that
Vintage means at least 20 years old. Considering that Charlotte Russe opened in 1975, the shirt very well could be vintage, although I have no idea when exactly it’s from. Anyways do you have to be that guy
@@dap1152it’s probably only cause it’s “vintage” charolette russe always had terrible clothing that would start to fall apart after one wash. My SHEIN clothes I’ve had for over 4 years and they are still going strong. No rips or tears. Comfy as hell and look great on my plus size body.
hot take but it really doesn’t matter what brand you’re buying secondhand as long as the material is good and will last. who cares if it’s aliexpress or shein if you’re not supporting those companies anyways AND will prevent those clothes from going into landfills 🤷♀️
Exactly, which is likely why she isnt getting them as brands like shein are known to have shitty quality clothes. It's likely more about quality over than the brand name.
She prob do❤sent do SHEIN cs of child labor. Also very bad quality but also the Ali express was fine if it brakes ,it brakes its most likely on,y a dollar to five.
People pay her to make then style bundles that include interesting thrift pieces. SHEIN is not one of those rare and unique thrift pieces. And the quality of brands like SHEIN and Aliexpress are just okay when bought new often times. Also, she avoids fast fashion when purchasing, which sites like SHEIN mainly sell.
I know I've bought a lot of SHEIN clothes at thrift stores and some of the pieces have lasted for years, and honestly with thrift stores it really depends on the day if you get something expensive, like usually it's fast fashion that gets donated, or sometimes the hidden gems, like one time I found a 90 dollar leather jacket with tags and everything for 15 dollars
A lot of people hate on SHEIN for a valid reason honestly, however I have several pieces from the website that have lasted me about 5 years already, they look barely worn out and still fit quite well. Plus they survived the wash cycles. My experience definitely does not invalidate others though. Just felt like sharing it.
This is similar to my experience with shein stuff as well. Those dresses have lasted me longer than most of my high street clothing. I was broke and fat, couldn't buy new clothes at better places because of income and thrift stores near me, literally never hold my size. Shein was the only option at the time. Years later and I still have those dresses and wear them every week.
@@funkyfiss i mean the labour practices are what most people have wrong with it. i get the original commenters point though like theyre alright quality bought second hand
Just a reminder that purchasing shein from donation-run thrift stores is actually a positive thing!!! It literally doesn’t make sense for it to be viewed as unethical or negative.
It's not about that it's because it's really cheap quality and thift stores can be alot more money then they did like 3 years ago so some times it could be like 5 or 6 dollars in the east cost and even more in California wich I think is where she is. So your paying for cheap quality that's worth like 3 dollars for 8 or 9 and shes also a influencer wich means if someone sees her wearing shein it can still be promoting it and it's still most likely a stolen design. So it's not just about giving money directly to shein or the ethics.
I personally don't see a problem in thrifting Shein clothes.. it's not supporting this company and the quality is not as bad as people picture it. I've been wearing a thrifted shein top for over 2 years now and the print is still there, visible and cute
@@skazochnydolbaeb649 the only reason I don't thrift shein is that there's been many articles about shein clothing (& other fast fashion) containing high levels of lead. I get not every piece of clothing is likely to contain lead etc etc but it's just something I don't want to risk. I perfectly understand thrifting shein though and I think it's great that there's less fast fashion ending up in landfill! I just think people should be aware before thrifting shein or (like the original commenter said) there should be a section for it. ❤
@@skazochnydolbaeb649 I think a lot of the reason people steer away from SHEIN clothes in thrift stores, especially thrift stores like Goodwill is because they are charging more than what the product cost when it was originally bought from SHEIN. SHEIN tops are like 4-6 dollars Goodwill sells them for like 7.99.
I actually like getting fast fashion from goodwill, because I'm still reusing the piece and I'm not supporting the actual company by buying it straight from them. Idk it just feels okay, but that's just me
I cannot comprehend Charlotte Russe being vintage 😭 Charlotte Russe is the place i begged my mom to take me to in the mall in the 2010s. Those clothes FELL APART! I have a lot of clothes left over from high school, but my Charlotte Russe clothes became unwearable so quickly that I have none in my wardrobe at this point. Most of their clothes were made of a terrible rayon/viscose material that never stood the test of time Were they better before the 2010s?
@@pooneh901 buying something bcs of the brand and not bcs you like it is a terrible financial decision since you are never going to wear it. Buying second hand doesnt mean you should buy things you dont enjoy
Omg girl you're beautiful in anything! Soo agreed with you on Shein! Oh and puh-leezeeee don't let the fabrics there touch your skin before washing in hot water...omg I've worked at one in college and there's lice, fleas, cockroaches and all their eggs and larvae. Actually same thing for new clothes as well but worse with used. Anyways ur stunning!! I agreed with all your insights! 😊
Honest question, how do we even know that lululemon isn’t fast fashion? What is the difference, besides price, between brands like lululemon and shein?
I use to by vintage clothes at a vintage store when I was 15 and they were from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I'd buy one statement piece and integrate it with my modern clothing. They were one of a kind. Charlotte Russe is just cheap mall clothing.
Gurl....this is a thrift store...just buy it if you like it...its 2nd hand anyway even if its shien as long as you're not buying from og source if its 2nd hand its actually good
Coach canvas bags are incredibly easy to clean and they clean up well!! Just scrub the stains with Zote soap and dab alcohol on any interior ink stains -- buff some leather cleaner on the straps and trim and you have a rehabbed bag!
Why not the shein top? It was adorable! Just cause it’s not no name brand doesn’t mean it isn’t good. Yes, there are plenty of bad quality items off shein but there are also plenty good quality. Just cause a product is expensive doesn’t mean it’s good. I’ve had multiple more high end clothing that is horrible quality and ripped right away. I get not wanting to support shein for multiple reasons but buying second hand isn’t supporting them it is simply helping the environment.
I think its really considerate of you to pass on the shein ones!! 😊 I don't recommend buying directly from their website(cuz they treat their workers badly 😢), but I think if you find it at the thrift store then youre good :) I say this because you are not supporting their business, plus it won't end up in a landfill. 😊
is it just me who thinks the print on the lulu skirt is really cute and could style it well even if it’s not lulu! when i first saw it i noticed it was so cute even before i noticed it was lulu! even if i didn’t like the print i would buy it to resell because im sure there are people who would want it, like me!
