Gear question I meant to ask in the video. So a Tele only has a master tone knob.Is there such a thing as a knob that is essentially split in half (the bottom and top spin seperatly) So that you could control the tone of your bridge and necl seperatly? I probably did a terrible job explaining that.
@Deric_Rocks

Stacked or dual concentric potentiometer
@thebrysmith3

Well I think there should be.

As already said, that could easily be wired up with a dual concentric pot

I put those on my Les Paul DC for separate volume and tone for each pickup.
@andrewbecker3700
@andrewbecker3700 Год назад
Just watched a video where the guy was explaining how he NEVER used the tone pot for the neck pickup anyhow, so he's wired all his T's so only the bridge pickup has tone control. It might actually clean the neck signal up slightly. If I remember correctly its only a 1 wire mod.

Fender has been doing specific years from the start of the AVRI’s, brother! The ‘57 Strat, ‘62 Strat and ‘52 Tele were mainstays from ‘82 through the 00’s. Gilmour’s Red Strat is a 57 AVRI, but an ‘84.

Norman’s Rare Guitars has demoed all the vintage Strats, and the ‘57 just has THE Strat tone. For a Tele I actually got a G&L ASAT Classic, Leo Fender kept on innovating and his MFD pickups are just next level.

Is everything okay there??? Here with me I have five guitars from Fender USA from the previous American Vintage lines, all made from the 90s until 2017: A 1957 strat (same as that one there, only in Surf Green, a 1962 strat, a 1952 tele, a 1959 strat and a 1956 strat. I just can’t believe my ears hear you saying Fender is “finally doing specific years”. They have been doing that forever, they only stopped doing this like five years ago, until now.

The ‘57 and ‘62 Strats and the ‘52 Tele’s have been in production for decades, the generic decade ones that replaced them have only been around for a couple of years? Having said that, chat boards are still full of debates over how ‘authentic’ they are.

It features the American vintage series: 52 and 62 telecasters, 57 and 62 strat, 63 jazzmaster and Jaguar, in addition to the 50s 60s and 70s strats and teles, plus 72 and 69 teles. Custom shop had several more options in the catalog. Can’t find what you want? Several signature models feature 50s and 60s specs fender was doing this since the Squiers in the early 80s

I've owned several strats over the last 30 years, including a WONDERFUL all original 1964 Strat that was like a dream to own and had an amazing neck that was so smooth from all the decades of wear. Ended up selling it even though I thought it would be a lifer because I played a Mexican made Player Series that was so comfortable to play. I've only owned American strats (and still two) but this Mexican strat is my #1 because it's just so nice to play. Neck isn't as worn in as my old '64 strat, but it's just as comfy. Never thought I would like a Mexican strat and always thought less of them but this one in particular has "it" and it's shocking to me. I changed the pickups but that's it. Anyway, just wanted to share this story

Hey man, hope you’re doing well. I’m super happy that you made this video but as another poster has mentioned Fender has done these sort of series before. Prior to the announcement and release of the AVRI ii series I bought an AVRI series from the 1990s and this guitar has the specs of a 1957. Three way switch (comes with a five switch in the case), soft v neck profile and the tone/volume pots do what Fender did in 1957. Check out those guitars to see what you think. Thanks man, take care.

fender's vmod telecaster pickups are mixed-magnet in the neck and resolve the "brightness"/icepickiness in normal telecaster pickups. you can still find them sold separately from resellers even though fender now seems to only sell them as part of american professionals.

I had some used 50s and 60s strats throughout the 70s (back when used guitars cost less than the new ones). Just dont remember there being so much difference in tone...maybe the necks felt different from one to the other. I think we get carried away with all this vintage stuff. Some guitars are now being beat up at the factory to pretend they are old (they even charge extra!!!). But get whatever you like, life is short!

Yeah the reality is up untll the late 80s as far as fender was concerned the single coil was the single coil was the single coil, they where not "voiceing" them, they where just spinning coills to a certan DC resistance and calling it a day, any diffrence in wire or bobbin material was just due to old suppliers dropping the part and new ones filling in,. I agree people are way to neurotic about pickups

Hmmm, I bought my first Strat in '91 & it was a '57 reissue. It came w/3 way switch installed, but also the 5 way, the ashtray bridge cover & letter of authenticity. The maple neck, fingerboard, knobs & pups have aged nicely. Other than the 5 way, the only other thing I've changed is the pickguard to a 3-ply, just didn't dig the single ply. Also came with a tweed case. I'm a hack, not a pro like you, but it's still just gorgeous & stays tuned forever. I had a E.C. signature Blackie for several years, which was very cool & more versatile, but still liked my R.I. the best.

Dude, the title should have been "what took ME so long," because they've been doing this for a decades, they just stopped doing it for a few years with the "American Original" line. The American vintage reissue had been around forever. I had a AVRI 57, Which I sold when I went with an Eric Johnson. They did 57s and 62s throughout that period, then did various years here and there: 59/65/64/54. They had the AV Hot Rods too, with flatter fretboards and different pickups. Tht best line was the AVRI Thinkskins. They had thin finish like Eric Johnson's without the poly base coat, but what made them great was that they did everything else was period specific, but gave them 9.5"radius and med jumbos. I just cannot stand 7¼" and vintage frets. I can do one or the other, but not the both.

I’m so glad they have dual humbucker 1972 vintage style thinline teles outside of the custom shop now. I just wish they also had a Mexican version that was a little cheaper. I know there is a squier but I want a fender. The ultra heavy relic custom shop burst is basically my dream guitar. My only complaint about the new American fender other than the price is the 7.25 radius. It should have a 9.5 right? Those teles usually had 9.5 radius necks I thought.

Clay dots, even correct pickguard screws, etc. (It came with the 3 way switch in the case.) Before that I owned to '62 to from the previous vintage AVRI series. You arent crazy concerning the tele neck pickup. I bought an xaviere slick from gfs, expecting to hog out the neck pickup for a humbucker. But ended up liking it . a lot. the slick pickups are aged so they are just a touch microphonic, I dont know if that is making the difference for me. But it is proof that you might like something more than you thought when you bought, oh yeah and dont buy extra pickups until youre sure you have a place for them lol

I'm dying to get an AVII '61 Strat in the 3 tone burst. I don't understand why it's so hard to get a Nitrocellulose lacquer Fender with a 7.25" board without going to the Custom Shop.

Nice opening dynamics. Makes me realize what a brute I am when I’m playing.

The vintage Telecaster might have the original wiring that had the dark setting on the neck pickup.

Only gripe with this new AVII line is how tinted the necks are. Some photos I see the necks are practically orange. I have an AV 64' with a natural lacquer neck which looks way better than the pre-aged look imo. After all these guitars are supposed to be what you would get off the line new in their specified years...not what it would look like if it sat on a stand untouched for 60+ years.

I picked up the 70th anniversary broadcasters. I will never own a real broadcasters but it certainly, as you say, scratches that itch and I love it and I feel like it loves me too.
