There's another version of that Dewalt that has the adjustable clutch on it. Way better for working on smaller stuff you don't want to strip. Been using these things for a few years now and there is absolutely no turning back. These things are amazing tools to help speed up productivity.

Yup... Excellent tool ...bonus tip: if you notice the gyro function is kind of funky (meaning the rotation stops suddenly or acts annoying no matter the wrist movements), just open the tool (very easy to do) and clean the action switch with an electronic spray cleaner. My unit started to do that after 2 years and that's all I did to bring it back to normal
@BooDevil65

I have the one above that with the clutch (EXTREMELY sensitive at lowest setting, have used on tiny screws - but YMMV), and can transform between straight and 90 degree pistol, and LOVE IT. Best of both worlds: infinite speed range, from zero up to twice what others do. Gyro action VERY natural.

@Leif_YT

@@CoopzVideo I would say it also depends on what you're working on. I sometimes repair phones, old toys or other things with small screws or sensitive threads / plastics. In such cases the fine control can be super useful...same as the torque control. They're the kind of tools you don't "have to" buy because a classic hand screwdriver gives you the same control and feedback, but it's a joy to use them once they're in the arsenal :)

As a professional locksmith, these are fantastic. Locks don't like a ton of torque either. They've been around for a while now, but nobody seems to know about them despite the mini stuff like the ES15 or Wowstick being widespread and well known. It baffles me.

You've got the 2nd best driver...the best is the Dewalt DCF680 has a clutch built in too. I tested both, the 682 and the 680..the DCF680 is an inch longer, but includes a clutch...beats the crap put of the non-clutched, non folding 682 👌
@JoshuaBardwell

Did you find the gyro function was the same bewteen them? Another commenter thinks the 680's gyro function works different/worse.
@Fly_High_FPV
@Fly_High_FPV Год назад
@JoshuaBardwell they felt identical, but one will strip m2 screws and one has a clutch to prevent it. Same batteries, same chuck, but 680 folds and has a clutch, cost about $15 more, which is well worth it if you strip one fpv cam screw.
@yngndrw.
@yngndrw. Год назад
I can absolutely see this for prop nuts especially when they are nylocs, but I'm not sold on it for the regular hex bolts. A regular (hand) hex driver seems easier and quicker to me, as you can quickly spin a long bolt in by twisting the driver's shaft rather than the handle. Using a hand driver has the advantage that the handle is much thinner, meaning that when you want to nip it up you have a lot more control over the torque - In fact I find myself using the different diameters of the handle to control torque more than anything. Maybe that's just me though.

I largely agree here - the Dewalt is a neat driver with this feature but it does take some getting used to but if you are mindful and set it up properly it can be a really helpful device. I have had many cordless screwdrivers over the years but now I am lucky enough to own a Milwaukee and it really is great. I also have the pistol style Ryobi unit and have had it for years and it also is great. So I do agree that this Dewalt is really cool but I will say that a clutch is really useful! and for what it is worth you can get this DeWalt equipped with one, it just costs more of course! And the MIP drivers are actually legendary! From 10-15 years ago at the RC car tracks these drivers were in everyone's toolboxes I remember they were expensive to me at the time but these are a "buy once, cry once" purchase that is 100% worth it! The steel they use is very high quality and I do believe that the tooling is all machined to size - all I know is that these are tough, true to size, and one of the greatest of all features - the sizes are all clearly numbered. Cheers

In my opinion the vessel 220USB-P1 is far superior. 1) Its no bigger than a standard screwdriver 2) it USB-C so it can be charged in the field. 3) 1.2Nm, 1.6Nm, & 2Nm torque/ speed setting 12Nm hand torque 4) way easier to use when using in awkward positions 5) Standard 1/4” hex US & Japanese bits both lock in and work 6) $65 after import The negatives of the 220USB-p1 1) it’s only sold in Japan, so it has to be imported and takes 5 to 6 days to get. 2) only comes in on color no, it does not have the gyro function like the Dewalt but I didn’t personally don’t find the gyro that useful on small fasteners and electronics. It’s been 100 times longer because Im focusing on not over, rotating the Dewalt than just getting the fastener in. and the Dewalt is just to talk to you for fine precision work.

+1, this is a great tool. I purchased it last year to work on big RC cars (lots more screws than on quads, and generally the screws go into ABS plastic, requiring quite some torque initially, but also fine control towards the end to not strip it out). Works great. Thanks for the link to the 8mm driver; I had not thought of using it for props yet.
@kurtzFPV

I like the cheapo harbor freight electric driver. It doesn't have enough torque to damage most delicate fastenings 😅 Sure I have to make a few final turns by hand sometimes, or a half first turn when loosening, but it saves me from having to make the vast majority of turns. Plus it is like $10. I have a backup I've never had to open, and it is very light and small.
@cfusername
@cfusername Год назад
I complete agree. I don't like the ones that only work by pushing it towards the workpiece. Especially when screwing a screw out. Some have additional buttons, which is better, but the pressure sensor can't be disabled which is abd. This maybe ok for medium grade woodworking, but not for precision stuff. Unfortunately the Dewalt shown wasn't available in Germany last time I checked a few months ago (only a regular one).

Might have to pick one of these up to replace the skil driver of similar style that I bought last year. Definitely doesn’t instill confidence that it’s going to last.

Fascinating driver. Just one comment though, for 4:10 So, what you're saying is it doesn't quite have enough torque to put on prop nuts (because you have to finish it by hand)... With this gyroscopically controlled thing, wouldn't it mean that it would never twist off your hand like the other did (even if it had much higher torque than that one) because the moment it starts to twist your hand, it would stop? Depends on its reaction time, I guess...

Once you know what setting the torque-limiter device needs to be set at they're way faster (and forgiving to use) than this dewalt unit. You just set it and turn until it skips. Update: The exact version you'd want is actually the DCF680, because it has a clutch and is convertible, yet still has the gyro! I find the clutch super important, it's basically insurance to never strip any screws and it speeds up work by you just being able to go full bore and the screw stopping at a certain point automatically... Also it's a fair bit cheaper I think!

@@JoshuaBardwell Good point! I guess I just see it as unnecessary as I am only building one quad every couple of months or so! If you are doing it every day, I can definitely see the benefits!

I have both the sequre electric screwdriver v2 and the Dewalt DCF680 and I can tell you don’t waste your money on the sequre screwdriver. It doesn’t have enough torque to tighten props or screws properly. You have to do by hand afterwards kinda defeats the purpose. Get this one JB showed in the video or the 680 version

Made chop saw gears for black and dirty before they moved from Hampstead Md. in 1983. Dewalt is owned by the balmer stock holders and others. B&d china is junk. DeWalt pretty good 😊I made tool and die pay running 4 machines at same time, 2 automatic,2 manual

I see you have been out of the tool game for quite some time... theres a reason most people who use these tools for a living, wont pick this tool up.

Ok well I've had it for 2 years and love it so I guess fuck me then. I don't "use tools for a living" and it's fantastic.
