*FYI I did switch it around so the thimble was on my index finger, and it was actually LESS effective because both ends were too loose. This may be just what I need. I’m a doll maker I do all my stitching by hand except my faces are machine embroidered. Looks like I need to give this a shot.

The thimble that looks like a ring is for sashiko. You're supposed to wear it on your index or middle finger, with the round part on the palm of your hand. Sashiko is done similarly to hand quilting using a running stitch.

As a csopayer I'm usually going through a few layer of fabric or vinyl and something having to use pliers to do it.... thimble alon is not enough so the grip on this is a nice added bonus. I use a silicone circle needle grip to currently grip and push my needles. Even though I'm 5'9" and plus size build I still use a small finger wrap thumble (it's a finger pad thimble with a "finger nail" extension that you can wrap tighter). I can sadly see these sliding a little too much for me. Haveing a few sizes in these "finger glovers" would be nice. Clover also had a Clover 6025 Protect and Grip Thimble in 3 sizes. like the tumb piece. The thimble side is small BTW, the diagrams they use online show the the full rubber finger tip is for the thumb.

I use a regular metal thimble and if I am going through something that's think and the needle gets stuck I will break out a pair of needle nose pliers and pull that sucker out

I put my thimble on my middle finger. I think I would try this but where it reversed.

I have one. Its a bit awkward to use, because of the thickness and the loop the can get in the way. A traditional thumb work best for me

Hi Jen, this does look like a game changer for hand sewing. I just have a metal thimble, it works o.k. but not the best. Did you try using your other soft thimble with this one? That might help to make it fit better on your finger. I am also a lefty.

Can you try using it as a Quilter uses a needle when quilting and let us know how that goes for you please? ... Quilters place several stitches into the fabric quickly one at a time which are stacked onto the needle before pulling the thread up and out away from them.

I was thinking that too. I don't hand quilt, but hand bind and sometimes hand knot, both putting needle to the back and front in one motion/pull of the needle. Maybe you have a tip for me? I hand knotted a quilt for the first time, using embroidery floss, by putting the needle down and up in one needle pull. Found I often did not get through all the layers so had to cut and redo. I suppose I to put the needle all the way through and "stab" it back up for knotting.
