Apparently a long time back, miners came to Coober Pedy to look for Gold, instead they found Opal. Also in Coober Pedy if you're lucky, you can find opal in your backyard.

This is a good question. The people in Coober Pedy are careful when they make their homes underground. They use special ways to make sure the homes are safe and won't fall down
