You have popcorn, chocolate & taco's - but also Tomatoes! The Mexican (meso-american) people also made corn digestible by a small amount of lime to it. I visited the Yucatan peninsula a year ago and it changed my life, the people, the food, the culture & the history were all so amazing. Chichen itza was a true sight to see, so was Tulum. The 1st time I had real tacos I teared up a little, the textures and flavours were so much better than anything I have tasted before or since. The people I met were friendly and just happy, I've never met people with such a good outlook on life. I want to go back next year to Mexico City or San Miguel de Allende.
