It's weird they decided to give the animal that whole gimmick is that it can climb and hunt from trees the ability to fish and dive while the animal that can fly is actively punished for trying to do anything other than mindlessly soar through the sky.
Fr!! Like I’m cool with Herra swimming and eating fish, honestly doesn’t bother me it’s fine it’s helpful But nerfing Ptra?? I feel like the Herra release should have introduced new content for Hypsi and Ptra!! Give ptra a landing tech similar to Herras tree traversing ones so we can actually cling to shit! Give us slow regen for clinging idm! But why????? I miss Spiro Ptra :(
What happened to ptera was truly a tragedy. Most of my hours in Evrima were on Ptera. The POINT of a flyer is to be able to traverse the map freely and quickly, which ptera used to be able to do. Now, The Isle's flight system is still better than PoT's. Seriously in PoT your flight is usually absurdly slow, so slow that it looks ridiculous and it wouldn't be remotely possible to fly that slow in real life because you'd fall. And BoB's flight may be a little too forgiving in some ways. What The Isle had was perfect, until they ruined it. Flyers are supposed to be physically weak, in exchange for the speed, agility, and freedom of flight.
And they still can. Now resting for 4 minutes is too much imo but you still cover tons of distance regardless as a ptera, even without wasting all your stamina.
@@dtbrex08 Yes, but it still costs more stamina and the Ptera is far less agile. And you definitely shouldn't have to wait that long to replenish stamina either.
@@GustafUNL imo ptera doesn’t need to be agile though. It’ll probably get better with the upgrades anyways. And when gliding you waste no stam but are basically carno speed to even if the stam drain is stupidly high you still get around fairly easily. Imo at least.
@@dtbrex08it doesn’t need to be agile no but it was more fun like that back when pt could annoy people for like at least 3 minutes without rest and you could chase small prey just used to love pt I haven’t played it in months because it’s just not the same
Added to the list of increasingly bizarre development choices for The Isle's pteranodon. Just make it dive into the water like a seagull and launch from the surface, works for making them vulnerable instead of functionally invincible via flying 24/7 (I'll just assume that's why they're trying to make the fucking *_sea bird_* terrestrial) and it's paleoacculturate. Win-win.
9:27 yeah this is js really stupid 😐 Why make ptera a land hunter when you already are planning on adding quetz? Or better yet! Why not just add a new flyer to fill this niche?? I can appreciate that they’re at least looking back on ptera but man… there just trying to make it smth it’s not 😔
I was really hoping hypsi and Pteranodon would get a buff along with the ability to climb, honestly Hypsi and pteranodon need reworks. I hoped these would come alongside herrera because it made sense. I'd love to see them rework hypsi's spit mechanic, like imagine being chased by a herrera and being able to do a quick 180 and blind it and, because it's blind it automatically loses its footing and falls off a branch. If pterandon has climbing then fresh spawn juvis can climb to the tallest branches of a tree and take off instead of essentially being helpless babies. I miss the days of killing juvi as pteranodon when they would stand out in open fields feeling safe. Juvis should absolutely fear adult pterandons out in the open, they shouldn't feel safe. The counter is going into denser foliage (which The Isle has plenty of) simple as that.
Hiding in the woods of Centre was always sm fun haha It was risky but as a baby you might as well get them diets, same as south plains now! You can make that choice, ofc it’s annoying to die but as a fresh spawn you generally aren’t loosing much. Then they added that shitty spawn timer tho so it’s horrible here ugh
Although I can't prove this, I had a very similar experience that those other players had where they heard a random allo call in the game. It was about a week ago, on NA2. I was traveling through river delta as a stego when I heard a very similar call that those other players heard. At the time I thought it might have been a new ambient call but on hindsight it definitely was allosaurus. That makes me think it might be more finished than I imagined.
I heard it loud and clear in AU1 about a week ago. I assumed then that it was added to the ambience sounds and even commented on it in the Evrima AU1 chat on the official Discord.
I watched this video like 2 days ago, thinked that was propably some type of montage, but then i played for few hours, and 2 times heard very very weird new broadcast, during night, in the jungle, in a pretty abandoned area
Oh every playable back then in evirma had that where you could tap the call buttons and there were shorter quieter versions and hold and longer louder versions of calls. I imagine they got rid of it because the playable have enough noises to worry about and doing three variations of the same call along with different versions for different stages of growth, becoming more horse when low on stamina and hp, as well as tapping or holding, and this isn't counting any idle sounds, sniffing sounds, hurt sounds, eating sounds, drinking sounds, etc etc
I hate how much the devs despise petra. I don’t fucking care if they dislike ANY Dino or like any Dino, it shouldn’t be affecting the game in the way it clearly is. Hell, in the new update we got pattern Cs for literally every single dino EXCEPT teno. It’s too much. They seriously need to take a step back and reevaluate who this game is actually for, cuz it’s definitely not for the fans anymore.
Yeah same with adding rex. Makes absolutely no sense to add rex now cause the only thing it can interact with is stego and Deino, everything else is way to fast. But no we get rex cause "muh Turennosaur cool" instead of something like Maia Allo Para to have a setup for it in the first place!
@@Qbliviens Like what is the point of working on a Dino that isn’t even gonna be on officials?? I’m a AU player. We have ONE AU server. We have hardly any AU community servers that work bc our ping is so ass at times. I usually play on NA cus I have no other fucking choice. Even if that wasn’t the problem, we shouldn’t be getting Rex and trike yet. I respectfully don’t care and would rather then work on more quality of life things or finish Austro or other FUN Dino’s.
Even though the idea of getting far less playables this year compared to getting 6 of them last year is pretty disappointing, I think diablo and mutations with the new night vision that is coming are at the very least good in comparison to what we got during the first years of Evrima, and if we get Maia with maybe Rex and Trike towards the end aswell I think it'll still be a pretty decent year. Oh and before I forget, apparently random spawns are coming back too which should help with the massive hotspot issue I think, iirc it's gonna be the default option and server owners will be able to switch to being able to select the spawn location.
@@Orni-Mega-Lonyx My only issue with it is that it's gonna be difficult to meet up with friends but as someone who's solo %99 of the time I don't quite mind it. Honestly I'll take anything that'll save me from having to stay in a hotspot.
If they bring back random spawns and are so aggressively against a minimap, AT LEAST have the name of the area pop up on screen when you enter it so we can figure out where tf we are
@@oblivionfan345Tony you can figure that out with the compass and landmarks. Kinda encourages people to learn the map. It can be annoying if two people are playing together and and one or both of them doesn't know the map. It'd be better if they also added the group system from Legacy so people can find each other easier.
But what does that mean: "more terrestrial creature"? Better run speed? Better run time? Better defense? More attacks? More options how to interact? We do not know. Also, thermal updrafts are really neat idea, that should be a thing too so.. Idk. I would say, lets wait and see.
I don’t think we’ll get any more playables this year but I don’t think that’s really a problem, the devs don’t owe us regular playable additions and from my understanding focusing too much on playables is what killed legacy. The game has a lot of potential but it needs time to achieve it and I’d rather the devs focus on what matters for getting the game to where it needs to be than trying to push out new playables. With the Beipi things I don’t think it losing surface swim speed is much of an issue as it’s intended to spend more time underwater. I’m not sure how to feel about the ptera things but hopefully it works out, and if it causes even less players to play ptera the devs will probably look into it and try other solutions probably paying attention to feedback they get on hordetest or wherever they test those changes. Also can’t wait for the new NV that’ll be awesome.
7:47 No you are wrong that is not the new way to hunt fish, Ptera is getting the ability to slav squat! Once you see it you wont be able to unsee it, look at that perfect squat with how the legs bend and the heels firmly planted on the ground. 10/10 slav squat!
Honestly the new diablo sounds are pretty average compared to what they could’ve done with the legacy calls. The f call sounds robotic almost and the 1 call just sounds… weak? Compared to its loud and proud 1 call from legacy, imo.
To be honest I have no idea about what makes people call The Isle a dead game it's average player count nearly quadrupled in 2019 and has been slowly increasing since then.
@@jivepsilocybe993 The isle looks absolutely astounding, but after a few dozen times of getting killed due to shitty hitboxes, the game doesn’t really offer much.
@GLeviathan Every game follows a cyclical formula. All FPS games are the same. Pick guns. Run around to get kills/objectives. Repeat ad infinitum. RTS is the same. Perform build x y z. Counter where required. Repeat. MOBAs, Card games, board games. You name it.
One of my only big complaints about the game rn is just the shit balancing and certain playables being left behind in the roster (dryo, pachy, teno), I honestly feel that if they spent a month or two on just balancing the game the isle could be near perfect
I think you forgot Carno... it is ridiculously the one predator so slow and sluggish as juvie and following up that it gets hunted down by everything else till it reaches the tonnage where it gets quite challenging to sustain and keeping it from starving, having to eat every 10 minutes or so. I don't know but Teno seems pretty versatile in combat and I see it constantly hunting down semi-adult Carnos. But it had been a while since I played it the last time.
the devs are masters of endless hype without delivering. The allo trailers are insulting to me because I know damn well its not going to be playable any time soon. It feels like they spend more time making trailers and throwaway ideas than working on the game itself. Also the ptera stuff is so painfull lol, they clearly play favorites with the dinos and ptera IS NOT one of them.
that allo roar that people are recording is an ambience ingame, ive heard it myself several times, i do think its still an allo roar but its not a physical player!
If only they made pteradon like an actual sea bird diving into the water swimming snatching fish then coming out of the water sitting at the surface or fly but now it’s a terrestrial birb. AND I SWEAR ID THEY MAKE MY BABY QUETZA JUST LIKE PTERA
why THE *FUCK* are they making ptera MORE TERRESTRIAL???? A black heron "canopy feeding" technique makes the least sense of any decision ive ever seen by this dev team. Pteranodon was seafaring animal. Its wings were long and narrow, like those of a seagull or an albatross, perfect for soaring high over the seas and diving down to catch fish like a pelican. Black herons, being freshwater birds that live inland, have much broader, rounder wings, that additionally, open like a fan (a trait shared by all birds). Pteranodon, a PTEROSAUR, has wing anatomy completely unlike this, theres a reason that teaser gif looked so awkward and horrible, ptera literally isnt built to be moving like that, its just ridiculous
It could be that they dont want to make the same mistake PoT made putting a ton of effort into the ocean for there to be a handful of creatures that can utilize it so theyre trying to make ptera more of an inland flyer. But honestly giving it the ability to dive and take off from water would literally make it better around the rivers and swamps so maybe theyre just ptera haters.
Give Ptera the ability to see under water and dive like herrera, while also giving it the ability to lift off from the water, we know they could do that in real life!!!! Maybe give it like a 1-3 second wind up animation where it flaps it's wings to give deinos a chance to strike. And then give it a dive attack based on height like herrera, that does like 200 dmg at max, not only to catch fish but also kill baby deinos and beipis. If you do it on land and in too shallow water you die, so it has a payoff. Boom Ptera fixed.
Isle numbers definitely looking better than BoB's. >.> Lol Ptera to my knowledge would be a skimmer/deep sea diver, but yeah dondi doesn't like flight because he looks at the game in the aspect of how will clans use them. Warfare tactics etc etc. I can somewhat understand that mindset without the large chinese clans played back in progression, but I disagree with it as Isle should be striving for realistic play that it advertises, minus all the genetic engineering monster stuff. Also I don't think we are getting any new dinos this year if we do it will be Maia, and that's it. Rex/Trike have to release together so less they are both ready not happening, and yeah I dont see Allo coming till middle next year if anything. I only expect 1 or 2 real major updates/release from Isle yearly tbh. Just how they do things and how they've done things for years now.
I think being able to choose between the Rex roars was a good choice there was no way they could just pick one and please everyone so people being able to choose is the best option
I do wish they would fix pt to how it was back in spiro when there were a ton of pt at the one waterfall in the plains (I forgot what it’s called 😭) I remember pt used to do 1 dmg to an adult carno which is just amusing considering it would take around 100 hits to kill it but you still feel like your doing something and can stay in the air while annoying it for a while rip the pt we used to love hope it gets resurrected
Man I really hope they keep the legacy trike calls, maybe enhance them a little but I hope they don’t overcook the calls. The long ass trumpet 4 call on trike would be majestic af to hear on gateway
Loved the honesty of this video. You also proved The Isle isn't dying, but also answered why people think it is. Also, the queue wait times and lack of servers (not to mention the 100 player cap on this huge, amazing map!) are a perfect example of just how messed up priorities are for this team. They DID do pteranodon dirty, and beipi too with that unnecessary change. My husband, who doesn't even play The Isle, classifies it as a game where "they take one step forward and two steps back." It's so true!
Definitely ptera should be able to dive and launch from the water. I know AI is a performance drain, but airborne AI would be very cool for ptera to hunt, and they could also develop the Isle's first symbiotic relationship by allowing ptera to clean the teeth of carnis so they both get a slight health boost. I love playing ptera, and it's so frustrating to see them continuing to ruin it.
tbh i see pterodactylus or compy Ai more fitting for that teeth-picker role, but yeah every other idea you mentioned is a no brainer, should definitely be added to ptera.
9:20 bruh that makes me so mad. Ptera use to be so much fun, just trying to hunt stuff by diving in and out pecking juvies or smaller dinos, it was still easy as hell to end up dead, but it was entertaining at least! I hate how biased they feel towards/against certain species, Ptera and Beipi are getting shafted for no reason, like hardly anyone plays them to begin with?? so why make them even less desirable?
Ptera needs hovering mechanic where it can move up and down. NOT JUST DOWN! it's a small enough Dino that it makes sense it should be able to flap wings and hover upward. They should make the glide waste very little Stam and the hover mechanic use a lot more Stam
Just like that clip of the ceratos calling and it sounds like an allo calling back, i have a video of what sounds like a rex calling, i thought it was part of the ambience at first but iv not heard it since
The game is not dead but if we only get 2 major updates every year it will die. Especially since most of their dev time is fixing the stuff they break with each update and also fighting UE 5 as i do not believe the recode has helped with issues under the hood. The game is still a disaster from a performance perspective. They had to rework NV at least five different times now, certain dinos are missing features or terribly balanced (troodon/dilo venom changes, deino missing vertical lunge, pteras horrible stam) Hackers run rampent in this game on officials. I cant say the devs arent working hard but the game is not in the best state. People only seem to be begging for more playables when the game needs a lot more than that to be great.
if a 1 yr playable drought didn't kill the game, if update 6 didn't kill the game, if taking almost 5 years to almost have rex didnt kill the game, if the transition from legacy to evrima didn't kill the game and if playing on spiro for 4 years didn't kill the game, NOTHING WILL. but im not surprised that they fked up beipi and ptera, and i think we'll see rex and trike in a hordetest late fall, if we're lucky, but we'll just have to wait and see
So...basically the quetz will also be mainly terrestrial, which means...no one will want to play it, and they will have wasted their time and resources on another animal the players dont want to play...because Dondi only cares about realism for SOME of the game...and a select some only HE wants.
Bro if dondi hates the idea of flying that much he might as well remove ptera from the game, and stopped wasting the other devs time by having them go through all the effort of turning it into a terrestrial animal. No one is going to play a pterasaur that is shit at flying, you might as well not have it as a playable option.
I've refrained for a while from complaining about them taking long with the game, but thinking back to when I first played evrima, I'd assumed way more would be in the game this many years later. I love this game alot, its quite literally my dream game as no other game quite fills this niche, which is why I am so critical of it and pissed that there isn't more in it by now. There's vids of Spino,Rex,Allo etc from almost 4yrs ago. Ik the engine upgrade changed things but seriously I might actually be 30 before the game even nears completion with supposedly 60 something playables. We don't even have half of that in the time evrima has been out. Also not seeing any talk about the natural disasters that were supposed to come too.(fires ,droughts etc.) The fact that we dont have all of the playables shown off years ago is just straight disappointing. I liked to believe there was a bunch of playables on the verge of completion but obviously there isn't. I'm not gonna pretend Ik the work and time taken of the devs but as I said, animations for Rex, Spino, Allo etc are around 4yrs old and not one is in the game yet...
I hope the 60 planned playables is never realised, even the developers must know how unsustainable and a waste of money it is. Not to mention there's guaranteed to be an insane power creep and double-ups of playstyles if they do go through with such a bloated roster, and it'll take away from the devs finishing an actually engaging gameplay loop for both dinosaurs and humans.
Ngl the allo call sounds edited in, but what do I know. I agree with the ptera hunting thing, I was pretty dumbfounded when I heard what the animation was for LOL. It fits Austro MUCH better than ptera, ptera is a skimmer not a wader.
"The Isle is dying" is a phrase that almost never applies to reality, it's just something people say when they themselves stop enjoying it and their huge egos have them convinced it must be the entire community that feels exactly like them. If you look at the Steam numbers, you'll notice they haven't gone below 3k in years, and even then, a lot of games would kill to have a steady flow of 3 thousand people playing every day. Calling the game bad, saying that x y z mechanic/dinosaur sucks doodoo donkey balls or that the devs are assholes, all those would be entirely valid statements, but saying that the game is "dying" is schizophrenia.
Don't feel like you're being too critical, sometimes I feel we aren't critical enough. Just keep the same format you have and you're big chillin. Great video man 👍
It’s people constantly saying “the isle is dead” or “the isle is dying” ig u didn’t watch that part of the video if this is the type of comment your leaving xd
The Isle News update has commentaries below videos that are suggesting that quite often. Lots of TrustMeBros who cant stand that the game is still a thing.
my predictions for the roadmap species that will come after this one is complete kentro ovi magy mono minmi anky spino homalo this is mainly based on what species we have already seen thing like models of, and i 100% think spino will be the next apex added,
I hope that the Rex and Trike come out at the same time, like I know its a lot, but I cant imagine have a Rex OR a Trike with no natural predators/threats..
The way I see it, they're making ptera more competent on land so flying isn't the only thing it has going for it, it could either turn out more fun or less fun after the changes, gonna wait and see
you are not more agile on land than in water bruh, beipi is the fastest and most agile creature in the water, the surface swim speed literally does not matter because that's not it's main way to move
@@jaroh8349 it was faster to swim around those before anyway, also if you get caught there that is a skill issue, anything walking there sounds like an explosion
3:06 oh my god i heard this exact same thing a little while back on an NA server while playing as dibble. I thought I was going crazy. Unfortunately my clipping software was bugging :(
I was on eu3 a couple nights ago, and I heard some strange sounds as well as seeing the silhouette of something that resembled a carno but with a much longer snout. I dug through all of the evrima calls, and the sound I was heading did sound a bit similar to cera’s 4 call
I've seen this before in other games. Your devs have a favorite play style and nerf all other gameplay to benefit their preferences. When that happens, they nerf everything else so other playstyles are too miserable to play. Let's hope this doesn't happen.
I feel there's no need to hate on either of the dino games. Each brings something fun to the table. One does stuff better than the other, but it doesn't mean we can't play and love both games. The dino survival community is so weird about having to say one is better or only be loyal to one game when both are fun and different 🤷♂️
“The Isle is dying”. Meanwhile, the population of the game has gained 1,300 more average players in just the few weeks the update released. If dibble and mutations garnered this high of a player count, highest it’s been since update 6.5, can you imagine what Rex and trike being added, let alone Maia and Allo, would do to the population? We might reach a new time high.
3:30 let me say this right now if anything the game is growing and even dondi and some people in his chat were saying which is why he said they might make more servers so people don’t have to wait to get in one and I myself as a new player have met other new players online and people who say they are also new players in the game itself
People say The Isle is dying, is that anything new, though? Is there a list of EVRIMA Dinosaur release dates? I think the Isle has gotten far better at releasing playables on a more regular schedule. Also, is Stam still a rough issue for the game? I plan to hop back in fairly soon with some friends.
Stam is still slow to regen, but mutations seem to make it more bearable and keeping your stamina above 60 or 70 percent allows it to slowly regenerate even while you're trotting. So, not all bad. And you're right, the release schedule is picking up a bit.
Tbh I’m not exactly against them but not really for them either. It didn’t make sense the biggest land carnivore in the game was also a “small game Hunter” but the outcry I’ve seen from carno players is a bit over the top.
The changes made to Pteranodon have been questionable, to say the least. However, in the video you state that Ptera was like living in your own little world, and I think this is part of the problem. When it was first released, I played Ptera and bascially nothing else (until we got Beipi) and it does feel like you are playing a seperate game to everyone else on the server, in the sense that you almost ever had to interact with the rest of the roster if you didn't want to. The changes made to Ptera more recently have only made this problem worse. I think the developers want a change that and brings Pteranodon into contact with the wider ecosystem and have it actually interact with the rest of the game, hence making it more terrestrial. Regardless of anatomical/scientific accuracy, I think this COULD be a change for the better that might benefit Pteranodon's gameplay, allowing for more varied ground activites and interactions with other small animals and the rest of the server. Flight will still be the fastest way to traverse the map (especially if we ever the fabled thermals) and the best way to escape predators, even if Pteranodon does end up spending more time hunting on the ground.
Soz, I was one of them against the diablo threaten clack sound, but I also miss when the diablo would threaten with its horns like how it used waaaaay back in the day
I don't like the changes they've been making for many of the playables, however I don't mind waiting for new dinos as long as they are made well. If they rush the production speed we'll end up just like legacy with a lot of dinos but they'll not be balanced. It'd be nice if they spent time to fix the many bugs as well
