Passo Manghen is incredible! I did it last year, in the other direction, on my Multistrada 950. It's so much fun. I had to stop several times, just to look and take photos of the broken trees. It was like someone had dropped a box of giant matches - I've never seen anything like it.

Hi Schaaf, don't get nervous! Probably these bikers were inexperienced and they were uncomfortable of having another bike behind them. Such a narrow road for novices! Keep on enjoying rides in this marvelous country side!

I'm here for the scenery too. I ride a Multistrada 1100. Not so fancy as the one you are riding, but with such surroundings it doesn't really matter what you ride. Just enjoy the views! ;-) Greetings from Holland.

We have a house at the base of that road in Molina. I’ve been up and down that road many times but only in a car. Scenic can’t describe how beautiful it is there.

Those tight hairpins! The most difficult type of corners (at least for me), especially when upwards or downwards.

I've had several occasions of motorcyclists blocking me in my car. Worst one I had was when a motorcyclists passed me on pure straight line speed acceleration just under the summit of a pass, then they went incredibly slow through turns on the way down and then accelerating out of them again. Despite me clearly being faster overall she just kept blocking me the entire way down taking away te only vague overtake option by accelerating away on straights. It was infuriating to say the least. Fortunately most motorcyclist I catch up to do let me pass, solid 90% of the riders is way faster than me anyway. I always let them pass when I feel it is safe enough to do so. 2:59 is something I very often do in a car, the amount of times you get stuck behind traffic in a car is pretty high (especially downhill) and just waiting and chilling for a minute is better than being stuck. Also jesus that was quite some storm. I drove this pass in 2016 and the difference in forest is huge.I also guess the resurfacing was a result of the same storm? It must have done a number on the old tarmac looking at all the damage around it.

One of my favourite tracks in Dolomiti. I rode it in Autum 2019 while my boring Guys were Shoppig in Sterzing :(. They're really too old for such funny rides.

That's one challenging road Schaaf, those two idiots had me shouting for you. Use your mirrors and be polite if someone is faster than you let them get past. Great vid as usual. 👍

I really have to ride this one too ... amazing scenery! @Schaaf What do you like the most for riding? Ducati Multistrada or Honda Africa Twin? I am torn ... recently I fell in love with the Multistrada but the new 1100 Africa Twin is such a huge improvement over the 1000 AT and simply all around a great package. I wish the Duc were not that loud ... on my long distance trips the last thing I want is a loud exhaust. Otherwise it would be an easy decision pro Duc for me :D Actually the AT shows that it is possible to combine nice sound with a quite exhaust ... 75dB at 7500RPM (? or something like that).

To me this pass was the hardest pass to climb with a loaded bike and passenger on these very tight hairpins. On top of it an a corner (here at 5:50) a car came down leaning me a very narrow space to get by while holding the momentum :)

I totally agree with you on the point of letting faster riders pass you safely. It's such a bad idea to block and slow fellow riders, it leads to unsafe dangerous if the biker behind is not as calm as some of us are, and on the other hand it is also a bad idea to push slow riders by following them really closely as it may lead them to push their skills and end up off the road. I think you gave great example by stopping to get some space firstly, and then passing as safe as the road allowed.

Does this bike feel more nimble that the bmw gsa or the ktm 1290r or about the same?

After like 10 mins the engine note starts to get a little annoying, especially at the low revs it sounds like a much tormented agricultural tractor... As for the BMW riders, why am I not surprised? :)

Yes, that white van driver was good to pull over. When I was in some twisties in Spain I came up behind a van driver and he immediately sped up for some fun. I had to put my polite English manners behind me and showed him my best block pass! 😁

Nice riding, do you think the 1260s is best for 2up in 2020?

This pass is not in our trip to Italy in june this year. But although the views are great, it is not our preferred type of roads. The road is a bit to narrow for us. You know I ride an RT like the frontman of those two bikers. And yes, we take up all of the road… (just kidding). But our group tend to choose the somewhat 'bigger' passes. The big exception this year will be the Zoncolan, which is perhaps even narrower than Passo Manghen.
