Kyoto's climate sounds a bit like the California high desert just with slightly less extreme temps but WAY more humidity. (Temps there could get up to 120 F/~49 C in summer and down to 0 F/~-18 C in winter but the humidity was always 30% or below.)

My Grandparents lived in Big Pine, CA and when I use to go visit for Christmas, it would always be snowing. I lived in Sun Valley, CA. it rained more there, so it was more humid than hot. I used to walk to school in huge puddles of water. Not kidding.

Very informative Shogo-san. My wife and I visited Kyoto, Osaka and Nara on a one week tour in March 2018. Yes, we were fortunate to see the sakura in bloom. My favorite part of the tour was a one day side tour by an old train to Arashiyama to hike up the Mt. Atago and view the monkeys, relax in the Onsen at the foot of the mountain, eat a delicious yudofu and tempura meal at Togetsu Tei, and hike up through the bamboo forest. Oh how I want to return!

Yes! Totally agree on the hot 蒸し暑い summers of Kyoto! My relatives haven't experienced it firsthand and gawked when I said it feels like breathing in water when you're stuck in Kyoto summers. Also I can kind of agree on the bread and coffee bit but maybe because it was in 2011 and my standards are Australian expresso + milk styles, I found it hard to find a good decent coffee in Kyoto when I was there! I did try Inoda but maybe because I wasn't used to drip coffee, I couldn't get used to it 😅 maybe it's different now? But yes their breads are top-notch! Loved getting a croissant daily from Le Petit Croissant!

10:52 Bleah; I know what that level of humidity is like. It does not feel good...especially when one deals with sensitivity to UV exposure. 16:10 So, a lot like the instant ramen packs one could buy at a store. Heh-ha, sooo healthy. I really only knew that Kyoto was once Japan's capital. These eight facts were basically new to me, though mostly unsurprising. The Midwestern US often has a lot of super hot and humid summer days, and in some areas, it's often very windy (I speak of non-storm related wind).
