I am so glad ford has kept the Coyote V-8. Really impressed with the Ram Hurricane straight 6 performance; durability? All i can say i hope it's better than the Tundra's new turbo V-6.

The market has gotten strange, nobody would have called an f150 with a coyote a classic v8 in 2014.

The Cybertruck will smoke the others to 60 and then get left behind when it runs out of battery after 100 miles. Its the tortoise and the hare all over again.

0-60 in 6 seconds with a 3 minute refuel beats 0-60 in 3 seconds chasing charging stations to sit at.

Let's be really honest here. We pretty much know the outcomes already, most of us can't really afford them, but we're all 5 years old at heart and just love BIG TRUCKS!

All three trucks did their job. That's all that matters. You buy your preference. Everything else doesn't matter.

That Ford Coyote 5.0 will outlast all of them . Personal experience. Slap a 3.0 liter supercharger kit on that thing and its game over for the rest even the tesla.

I tow less than 100 miles per day so range not an issue. I would just plug in and charge overnight. I would love to get one but I want pay more than $60k for any truck.

People who actually tow don't worry so much about zero to sixty unless they are foolish. Hour about zero to sixty after 200 miles?

Here's a good test suggestion. Time each truck at a gas versus charging station. One rule though, you cannot disconnect the trailer. 🤣🤣

How about an emergency braking test? Hook up the trailer, accelerate to 30, then slam on the brakes and see how well the truck can control the load.

Range is the most important thing more important than acceleration. Especially towing.

Well, when I'm towing a heavy load I'm not really worried about my 0 to 60. I'm thinking about safety and milage range, and my big diesel truck handles both just fine. Also, it's really nice to refuel in 5 minutes after towing for well over 300 miles on one tank. 👍

I need to air out one of my pet peeves. It’s not a big deal but it’s time to mention it- the only thing “old school” about today’s V8s is that the 8 cylinder design has been around for a century. The engines themselves have direct injection, sometimes a combination of port and direct injection, etc. Today’s V8s are not the same V8s of yesteryear.

As a farmer in Canada, I wouldn't be buying any of these until they become affordable as a farm truck gets dirty, scratches, etc. These trucks have become a 'rich man's toy' with there pricing

Another good fun test. Thx. 6.54 seconds is still really fast for a truck. But it is outshined by EVs as expected. The Cybertruck still needs work with their towing functionality such as backup assist, auto hitching, types of trailers, weight and so on. It is likely to come with an update within a year or two.

If I lived at high elevation like Colorado I'd opt for a turbocharged vehicle otherwise naturally aspirated V8 all the way for it's sound and simplicity.

People keep saying that most people don’t tow that far last weekend we towed about 600 miles and didn’t even leave our state. Out here in the west 85 miles of towing distance is just enough to get you 100 miles away from the nearest charging station. I will stick to my diesel. People say this is the future. It ain’t in my future.

At altitude, the Coyote was screwed. The 20-30% power loss hurts. The 3.5 Ecoboost would have performed much better up there.

I need to see this test done at sea level. Turbocharged engines will always beat a naturally aspirated engine above sea level

At 6000ft, naturally aspirated engines lose about 20% of their power(general rule of thumb) I grew up in Pennsylvania, moved to colorado(6800-7000ft elevation) for 6 years and then back to PA. I owned an 08 4.2L V6 f150 when I moved there and a 14 ram 5.7L hemi V8 on the move back. You can definitely tell a difference even when not towing. 0-60s are usually about 1.5 to 2 seconds slower than what they'd do at sea level. So towing, while I dint know a tual figures, I'd double that gap. So probably at least 3-4 seconds slower depending on the amount of power the truck has. So that f150 should be probably 15ish at sea level, probably even better than that. Turbos don't lose much(about 3% at 6000ft general rule of thumb), and electric loses nothing.

This is really pointless because even the slowest accelerating vehicle in this group is more than adequate to do the job . Blistering Acceleration is really not what people are looking at when buying a vehicle to tow heavy loads . Price and range and capacity is what people are looking at .

It's so weird that "fast" is a metric of what a good truck is. A truck used to strictly be a tool, now theyre almost exclusively driven by them.

If your range is 85 miles, you aren't towing anything anywhere with the Origami El Camino.

0-60 acceleration with a trailer is cool, but do a 60-0 with the same trailer. That’s what really matters when towing.

Mad why? I’ve personally said before I don’t care if the cybertruck does 0-100 in 1sec I don’t use a truck for fast acceleration. The thing is hideous. If I want to go 0-60 in 3 seconds I’ll jump on my bike. And not look like I’m driving a 4th graders science project.

I used to tow my race car with a 66 Ford with a 352 v-8. It was definitely slower than any of these and I never had an issue getting on an onramp. It was faster than a semi and they seem to have no issues either.

I bet almost none of the guys pointing out how a cybertruck can't tow for 200 miles without charging, ever tow anything 200 miles lol. This may be a pointless test, because people don't slam it when towing, but most people also aren't towing their boat across multiple states. Most trucks only tow like once or twice a year.

i wish old top gear was still around. a fun episode would be if the three where doing a long trip accrose the US using these trucks.

OK, is it just me because I missed it somewhere but does the Cybertruck have a payload or even a bed you can use? Is it really a truck or a box? Furthermore, where do you get it fixed if it needs maintenance?

Here in Michigan, Detroit News has an article yesterday about Automakers here in the US and overseas modifying their EV commitment numbers. Most wanted to be all in on EVs by 2030 but due to most early adopters already having EVs, the overwhelming majority of buyers are still preferring ICE vehicles. Overseas EV sales are also stagnant now.

I think that you need to get a powerboost as a comparison as well. I have a 2023 lariat powerboost hybrid and it tows great.

I would take the v8 all day everyday over any of those other 2 trucks I don’t like the new twin turbo in the ram they should have kept the reliable hemi v8

Being able to get up to speed rapidly while towing is nice. You know what's even more nice? Not having to stop for an hour to recharge after every 100 miles, which effectively renders electric trucks WORTHLESS for towing.

How about which truck handles the load the best instead of the quickest best brakes best handling of the trailer

To all those saying 0-60 while towing is not important have never merged into a busy highway… taking 20s (or even 10s 30-70mph) to reach traffic speed can not just be challenging, but also dangerous. Not to mention with CT (until we get the range extender battery) you’ll need to merge more often 😅

Can you guys make a video of "using" these 3 trucks for a weekend? Make the challenge transporting supplies across town, how much fuel/ energy you used. And did a particular truck save time or use more time.

My son works in the trades. He has a 2015 Nissan Leaf he got second hand. Still has 87% battery life on the almost 10 year old batteries. With the rear seats folded down it holds about as much as the pickup beds of his coworkers' trucks, but all his tools/matterials are sheltered, easy to access, and locked up when he's parked. Asside from tires he hasn't spent a dime on maintenance. Charging it at home costs about 1/5 what fuel would. He doesn't need to tow. He doesn't need 0-60. One look at his setup and it's obvious his little car is definitely a very capable and functional "work truck". 90% of people who buy pickups are kidding themselves if they think they're buying them for their practicality. According to Ford's surveys of their customers, only 7% actually do any meaningful towing with their pickups. So these are obviously just for fun for most people. If doing 0-60 in a huge pickup is fun for you, then the CT is an awesome option. But to say it's not as functional for towing is completely missing the point if you think many pepe are buying these other trucks to actually tow anything ever.

what is the point of this test ? Cybertruck is out because of the range issue when towing. So only useful test would be fuel efficiency of an I-6 turbo under load most of the time vs the V8. Who buys a truck to do performance test when towing ?

For towing I am going to stick with the cummins diesel. You need to stick with what your vehicle is designed for. The tesla cheese wedge is good for getting attention while sitting at a charging station for 3 hours

Turbo charged trucks do better at elevation. Naturally aspirated trucks will not accelerate as well. Electric trucks do not care. Not mad at the test..I understand basic physics. Good to have choice right?

What is lost with a lot of this debate is that a lot of people see EVs as being inconvenient. It’s only if you tow. It’s actually more convenient most of the time; when you’re not towing (which is most of the time) because you never have to stop for gas. Because you wake up everyday with a full tank. Tesla is an American success story that is pushing the envelope it’s something to be celebrated.

I love that Coyote 5.0. It’s easy to swap into classics, and has the ability to install a blower, bumping those numbers up to nearly 800hp. I don’t think the hurricane would handle that, but we shall see once tuners get a hold of them.

I looked up those weigh safe hitches, they are very expensive! The one you are using would cost me 570 before taxes and shipping😮

We knew the range would be an issue. If you want to tow with electric you would need a trailer with a battery or be traveling somewhere you can charge. However how much time are you towing in your truck vs daily driving? The cyber truck is a daily driver truck not a tow truck. People act like charge time is a big issue compared to gas fill up. You don’t take 3 min to fill up. You go inside. Take a leak, pick out a drink, wait on the misses who is in line. It takes me 15 more minutes to charge than it used to take to fill up at a stop. I will bet you if you count how often you fill up your truck on daily commutes vs how fast it is to plug in and charge out home. You will save more time in the long run than you will actually lose on the occasional road trip. But again I agree. You shouldn’t buy the cyber truck as a long distance towing truck. It isn’t going to beat the range and power of gas anytime soon.

What would be interesting I how far can you tow with each truck in a 10 hour day, being from Australia it's nothing to drive 800 or 1000 km a day on the way somewhere

Would love to know the times on the 5.7 Hemi and the 3.6 Pentastar too. Side note-the time on that Ram is awesome. Let's hope Chrysler doesn't mess up new designs as they often do.

TFL tested the f150 2.7 years ago and it snapped a high 5 seconds from 0-60. That’s significantly faster than the 2025 ram hurricane

Well if I were stupid and wanted to pay crazy inflated truck prices and pay 20k in interest over the course of my loan I would buy the v8 still… until that what should be 60k truck comes down to reality and interest rates settle back down I’m not gonna be one of the sheep who gives there’s auto manufacturers free money.

When Andre stated the prices I did not know what to think. Manufacturers should realize that these prices are not in their favor in this economy and they are going to continue stacking up. There is a Ford dealer in my area that has been renting a property near their dealership because they are so overrun with trucks. I never see that amount going down either as I continue to drive past it.

Who cares!!! 0-60 towing is such an infinitesimal factor in truck performance is shouldn't even be a thing, You're doing this for Tesla because it's the only number it excels in. Deliver a load 120 miles out and back, every truck back to the 1950's blows it out the water in time and cost.

If I'm using a truck for truck stuff I'm not really worried about acceleration...kinda like a freight train doesn't worry about speed, lol. Heck, look at trucks from the past, usually a straight six in them from small trucks up to big grain trucks, you wanted the torque to haul with even if your top speed was 50.

All these people talking smack about limited range of the cyber truck fail to realize that most consumers (people talking smack included) the average tow is only to the local boat ramp or the dump. Long as you remember to plug it in when you get home you have a full charge every morning. Not a EV owner (actually only have v8s) but the limited range isn’t as big of a deal as everyone is portraying

Good video. I think you need to compare the Cyber truck to a 12v Ram with a Cummins or a GMT 800 Silverado with a duramax. I still love the Cybertruck, but don't tow anymore.
