Well, i guess the production and bill for amortization (aka fixing/changing machines to new ones) are expensive, so to make some profit the cost is crazy? But idk.
Same thing with the vision pro. But its the first generation, they will be improved and will ne cheaper in the future. We just gotta have some patience
do you have any idea on how impressive the hardware of the Vision Pro is? just 2 years ago the closest you could get to that was an 8000 dollar, enterprise only VARJO headset that you also needed to pay a yearly subscription for
Not to be that guy, but based on the patents and almost a decade of development the Vision Pro had to go through 4000 is expensive yes, but not overpriced. This is also part of apples whole mastermind plan. This doesn't mean anything to me anyways though because I use Android.
@@SaymeeYTyeah maybe if you bought 3 2 entire new spools for one ball. The material cost for this ball is probably around 10 dollars at the absolute most
I gotchu. A new technological advancement usually requires years of research and development at a 500k minimum. I wouldn't be surprised if it costed them over 1 mil to development costs. At this point in time, mass production can't be an option because the QC would be a huge issue. So every ball is proprietary. Furthermore, this is obviously not marketed as a household item for general public like you or me. There is a special target market for these which are for enthusiasts who have the money and are interested in the engineering marvel.
i acrually high key wanna see how how these are made. i know its 3d printing but theres deffo some crazy stuff going on to get these balls to bounce the right way and function like a normal ball
You guys don't see the big picture. These brands don't care about the money they'll make from those 200 balls. They're literally getting millions in free advertisements from every corner of the internet. Just like Apple Vision Pro's sale strategy, by the time they make a cheap alternative for the public, everyone will know about it.
iirc they were asked to develop this since basketballs could perform differently at different altitudes and local ambient pressures. So in theory this would feel slightly different then any basketball any of us have touched and this is supposed to be what a regulation basketball should feel like
It's probably way lighter than a normal, regulation leather ball so adjusting your shot back and forth between this and a normal ball might make you regress
@@2600_Josh yal be crazy like AI cant use a video to create dimensions for it, and figure out what materials will and wont work. This shit will be 25bucks anyway 1 month after release from some foreign country.
No, the reason why they charge so much is because it's all about mass marketing to introduce a new product to the general consumer public. That way they ease people into accepting the product , build a hype and demand. Then sell them for 80 to 100 bucks in every sporting goods section in America. That's all it's about.
One thing ive saw absolutely no one point out is the plastic after a long time is it gonna start warming and changing shape? Cause it is plastic after all and when plastic bends and stuff which it probably does on contact when it bounces, it tends to start to warp and stuff. Idk just seems like 1 of many possibilities with this nasty ass ball.
2500 is cheap for an innovative basketball they shouldve did a few more to compensate for the time spent but still a nice idea wish i could buy one right now lmao
@@matthewaaa5138 Ya because they’re definitely not going to make that money back through other means. It’s not like Wilson is a multi million dollar company or anything. There is no reason to charge 2,500 for a basketball. That’s a joke
For most people, 2500 is not a reasonable price. THat said, it's not surprising that the first version of a technology is not reasonably priced for people to use, since that is usually not the case. If you do'nt want to buy it at 2500, what difference does it make to you if it's expensive or not available?
I'd like one but most I'm more realistically able to afford one of the ones that don't make a noise when you bounce it lol. Could you imagine watching the NBA with out the ball making a noise? Lol
