We have some progress on the Cosworth engine, should be ready for the end of this month dead line. We show some machining processes in action, plus we have a Ford Crossflow engine being stripped, it’s had all the money spent on it but has one major issue from a machining error, what we’re they thinking

Its much faster to just use a long flat block and a large sheet of sandpaper to remove the paint from the valve covers raised portions rather then setup the mill to remove the paint.

Best wishes for tomorrow, Lets hope all the guys keep the workshop as tidy and clean as last time you where off. Very seldom a doctor makes a mistake but remember reading about a doctor accidentally prescribing his patient a laxative instead of cough syrup. Three days later the patient comes for a check-up and the doctor asks, “Well? Are you still coughing?” The patient replies, “No, I’m afraid to.”

My family has had a number of instances of drs screwing up. For myself on two separate occasions had drs tell me I had arthritis. The first time was a pulled back muscle after a back spasm at work. The second was getting bumped playing hockey. Thought I pulled a muscle. Was not getting better so saw a dr. When he called arthritis, I said this is not how you get arthritis. Sent me for an xray of the hip. There was a spur sticking out of the joint which he said was a sure sign of arthritis. Was actually torn cartledge, but I did not know. Hobbled around for 7 years until it was arthritis. When about 50 I started getting the trots once in a while. Would spend until noon in the washroom. Could not go to work that day. Go to the hospital and the dr would tell me I had the flu. Every second week? Get real doc. Finally diagnosed with ciliac. My mother suffered from Lupus E all her life. The last time it flared up they got her test mixed up with another ladies test. Kept telling my mother who was a RN that she needed to see a psychologist to convince her she was not having a flare. She passed away.

Rod length also affects piston acceleration at TDC which changes airflow characteristics and affects valve size, port size, cam, and throttle body/carb size. The shorter the rod, the more airflow capability required, in other words, less restriction, to allow the flow to react quickly to the faster piston acceleration. Valve opening speed, lift and proper overlap are other considerations as the rod length changes. The effects at BDC on the closing point of the intake and opening of the exhaust also have to be taken into account. Rod geometry and its effects are often overlooked when picking parts. A cool question to prove the effect of rod geometry is, "In what part of the cylinder does the piston move the fastest?"

I had a torn maniscus repaired a few years ago. Quite trivial really. Just a sedative and a lumbar injection to make that leg numb. Only took about 15 mins which I spent chatting to the anesthetist. I walked out of the hospital. No recovery period and no more pain.

I had the same knee surgery, on a Thursday, crutches that day and to and from physical therapy on Friday. Used a cane to get around on Saturday, lots of walking maybe a mile in total. Sunday I was walking without the cane, I put on a tight knee sleeve, without any metal or plastic support rods in it. 2 things I was taught and learned in the 3 days. (1) Use your hand and muscle between your legs when getting up off the lue, (2) Turn your toes out when ever you get up off the lue and all other forms of standing up. Also spin on your butt to do a 90 degree to get out of the car, trust me it will save you a bunch pain. Good luck and Godspeed in your recovery.

I’ve had this surgery - best advice I can give is to keep your leg elevated as much as possible for the first week and make sure you give yourself time to heal. Also opt in for physio afterward - most surgeons are just cut and dice guys - the surgery may be a complete success but make sure your recovery includes strengthening the muscles around your knee. Best of luck with your op.

"Torn meniscus"? Very common, I've had the op. I can only speak for my case, and details may vary, but it's a very easy op to to have done, and usually highly successful as was my case. I'm a distance cyclist in my Seventies. Damn glad I had it done, and while they're 'in there' (it will be done by keyhole surgery) they might clean up a few other issues if needed, as imaging, even MRI, is only half the story in detail. Once healed (usually a few weeks, albeit I was walking an hour after awakening) it is best to be more aware of twisting and overextending the joint. You'll be fine!
@stephensaines7100
@stephensaines7100 Год назад
An addendum to above: If you're considered young enough to stitch the tear, rather than having the torn flap removed, recovery time will usually be a little longer, but if the repair is successful, it's worth the added time. Being in your Forties, it's almost inevitable to be a partial meniscectomy. It's like getting a flap caught in a hinge. Once removed, the hinge opens and closes unimpeded.

A longer than stock conrod slows the piston at either side of TDC, which for a N/A is detrimental as the 'suck' over TDC takes better advantage of high velocity ports and long duration cams. A longer rod slows the movement. Also, as can be seen in the video the bottom oil control ring gets preciously close to the gudgeon pin which makes it a weaker design especially if the engine is super.turbo charged. Ideally rod ratios should be around 1.85 and that should be a consideration when building the engine. Having a lower reciprocating mass is also important for a performance engine and a lighter piston often means a heavier conrod.. Good luck with the op and there is no reason why you can't work from home😄

Hi folks. Hope all goes well with your knee lee. Ive been watching your work for ages and never commented, just enjoy your work. What's spured me to comment now is that your kit car is sat up on the ramp gathering dust till the next season. What do you do for 6 month or so storage ? As I have motorcycles used the same. I normally drain fuel (tank and carbs) remove battery and block holes with oily rag. Anything else I could do? The oil has only got 700 miles and I dont want to keep changing it. When it comes to spring all I do is remove plugs and turn engine over for a while to get some oil to the top end. Any tips or ideas ? Great channel and nice bunch of chaps 👍

As a small company safety and health can easily be neglected, but as they say ignorance of the law is not an excuse.... in defence you aren't penny pinching and your heart seems to be in the right place. H&S gets a bad name because it's often used as an excuse by bodies to ban things. PPE is the last line of defence when all other measures are deemed insufficient. Unfortunately there are some people that fail in health due to measures taken, such as nurses who become allergic to latex gloves. Sometimes you can't win, no matter how honourable your intentions are. Hopefully someone with h&s experience in your industry will drop you a line. As you probably find intuitive, it's not about covering your bum, but making sure everyone gets to go home fit and healthy enough to enjoy their life
