It is such a treasure these days to see someone teaching their children life skills instead of letting them waste away in front of the TV and video games. Good job Sean and Brandi !!
It is good teaching your girls how to do work. Most kids now days don't have any idea what goes on. They are great helpers. You are really blessed have cute girls that are not afraid to get their hands dirty. You and Brandi have done a great job . God bless you and your family.
The easiest way to tell if an egg is good or bad is to put it in water. if it drops completely to the bottom of the water, it is good. If it starts floating, it is a bad egg and just get rid of it. Simple thing my grandparents taught me.
Not a foolproof method. It only gives you a clue how old the egg is since they evaporate a tiny bit of moisture each day, making the air pocket a chick would breath from when hatching a bit larger each day. I waterglass eggs, so break those eggs in a bowl each time when I use one just to make sure they are ok.
When a father does not have son's, the daughters get to learn. When my brother's were of age, my sisters and I were recruited to help feed and milk the cows. I should say me, because both of them were involved in sports, where I was uncoordinated. I hated it, but loved the time with my Dad. I was also a rebel, so was grounded the majority of my last 3 years of high school.😝 I do wish I had paid attention to more things, maybe I would still know how to do things today, at least I could still milk cows and feed them. Good job Miss Hadlee.
Old timers from before WW II used a thin layer of burnt oil oon their green wood to keep it from splits and warping. They also put burnt oil on the nails to drive in oak timber. It made it easier to drive the nails and kept the iron nails from causing rot in the green wood.
Some of my very best memories of little girlhood and young lady, im 70 now, are of my Daddy teaching me to draw, saw and build things, grow food n flowers, dig ponds, plant trees, mow grass.... Peacocks will love it We love it You guys built it w your own wood
I know Hailey is such a great help. Just as your other daughters. I’m so glad to see you trying them how to do so many things. That will help them in their life. GOD’S BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
I think the peacocks house/pen is going to be great! Super cool that you used the milled wood from your property. I love that you are so kind and loving to your girls and that you take the time to always include them in your projects. Looking forward to seeing it finished. Great job so far! 😃👍🏻
The Peacock house is going to be beautiful when your done. Hadley did a good job holding the boards. I would help my husband like that and the arms get real tired. Can't wait tell it's done. ❤❤❤
My daughters elementary school teacher was impressed with the ability of their life learning how to garden, build, and ability to figure out everyday life situations. Your teaching them things they will always remember and use. So many parents don't even have those skills. If your horses smell bad you may need to check their feet. If they have thrush, white line or an abscess you sometimes can smell it 50 ft away. I had one abscess and we smelled him across the pasture. Flies sometimes are friends, they will gather on it and actually tell you it's draining, or they have a cut
The peacocks and peahens new home looks great. They will love the extra room. It is nice that your daughters are willing to learn new skills and to help out. I think you are Brandi have beautiful daughters and both of you are doing a wonderful raising them to be responsible, caring people.
🇦🇺Will you put a gutter on the peacock palace to collect rainwater in a large tank to help supply water to the birds. Put an extra tap on the tank ( would need to be off the ground to get bucket under) to supply water to other animals and/or a pvc pipe pieced together to reach low enough with nipples for the chickens when free ranging.
HI dutch my name is Brad . I have worked in the construction industry for 30 years . Putting up the siding on the peacock pain I would be using 4 inch screws to go in the 4 by 4s
Dutch when my husband cuts wood he always puts wood or 2x4’s down on the ground so the milled wood isn’t touching the dirt then he uses wood in between each piece. He said air can get thru them and they can dry easier and not warp, twist or split as bad if you just stack them up on each other. I’m not trying to get into your business and you may have already known that but I was just giving you information he gave me. He always used screws because it gets them pulled together easier than using his air tools on it.
The milled wood is gorgeous. I do enjoy watching you put your building projects together. It's just so interesting to me because I don't know anything about building. It's amazing what you know Dutch. I still miss Gabe the turkey.
Great video. Love the build. The milled lumber looks fantastic!!! I was shocked how wide it was, but it looks great! Thx Dutch for another great video. Thx for your time! Love y’all. Blessings from OKC.❤
Great job on the peacock house. Hadlee is a good worker and will appreciate the skills she's learned someday. The American dream requires a lot of work and effort to make it a reality. Wish I'd had more teaching when I was a girl. I learned wallpapering and painting but no carpentry skills which might've come in very handy. Good job Dad.
I thought you were going to horizontally apply the siding ship lap style from bottom to top so it would be weather proof. The cup in the green wood would actually help with the installation and weather proofing. If you add the roof planks perpendicular to the ridge, screw the milled boards with a gap between the first layer that is about two inches narrower than the width of your milled boards and then add the next layer with only one fastener right in the middle of the plank so that the natural cup in the plank acts as a channel to help with runoff. This is how they used to build an enclosure back in the day.
Hey Dutch and Hadlee, you've got the pen coming along great👍. And all the girls were there👋. Sorry you have to go to school so early 😢. When I was young we went after labor day! The back came out awesome. JO JO IN VT 💞
Hadlee was a big help Dutch. She is such a pretty girl. Smart too Love seeing all 3 girls out & working Blessings, Love & Hugs 🙏🙏🌹 Love 🌻 from Apex NC 💜
That is wonderful how the girls want to learn & help out with building the peacock coop. The milled wood looks really good. Thanks for taking us along.
Wood has to have time to cure after you mill it, I don't know how long. If you build anything with green wood it will twist and split. My brother's worked in sawmills and construction.
Love and enjoy your videos. May the lord bless and protect you and Hadley and the animals and working on the homestead peacock pen. Milled wood looks outstanding
Gee that is going to be real nice once you get it finished. On the back you might want to think about putting a sealant to protect the wood from the weather. Fresh eggs yum, yum. Enjoyed watching and Love y'all. Good luck to the girls in school.
I am not a pro wood cutter in any way, but usually people have smaller pieces of wood stacked between the fresh cut slabs to help them dry evenly. That may be the reason for the curling. The edges are drying faster than the middle due to no air flow.
You and Hadlee are doing a good job on the peacock pen. Love the siding. Looks like a good backup power bank. Hope y'all get some rain. Gunner wanted to play. Always enjoy your videos. GOD bless y'all
You teach your girls alot. Love the patience you have when all you want is to get it done. My dad (rip) used every cuss word possible. But he had no one to teach him. Mostly I remember working in the crawl space, holding the light for him. He taught me alot growing up.❤ keep the videos coming ❤
Love the pen using wood you cut is a great idea, once you paint it one won’t notice all the imperfections ! Your girls are awesome to want to learn by helping you!

The boards that bowed, you can wet them down real good and it will make it easier to pull them in with the screws. We ran into the same thing putting pine lap board siding on our house. We wetted the wood down and was able to get them to lay flat.
Hi Dutch and Family. Love your videos. The girls are a big help. Peacocks house and run is looking good. Praying for yall to get some rain. Siding looks great. God bless and love yall ❤❤
Glad it was cooler so you all can make progress on some of your projects 😄👍🏻! The peacock pen is definitely looking good with the milled wood 😊! Glad the girls can help out, great job 👏🏻 💕 ! Thanks for sharing, take care and God Bless🙏🏻🤗💕!
Suggestion for the warped wood; the top and the bottom looked like it worked fine. The middle part may be use washers or a piece of metal with holes so the bowed wood does not pop out the screws.
Persistence definitely always brings eventual results. That peacock house/ inclosed peacock yard is turning into a beautiful little safe, and healthy environment for your peacocks and peahens.
Normally if it starts bowing if you’ll flip it over leave it the bow will reverse! The split ones you probably need to spray all of it with salt water or oil!
Tell your wife I found out what Grandma Doss using on her dog like Gunner. She uses a letter opener to help get the knots out behind their ears and fur
