This was HARD but very FUN! 

The Speedpaints you used accomplish 3 things in one (provided you use them over a light colored primer, which you did): They basecoat, shade and highlight at the same time since they flow away from the high points where they only tint the survace into the crevasses, where they get really intense. To achieve similar results with regular acrylic paints, you'd need a "wash" (which is basically a very diluted paint with a flow improver - they function similarly to speed paints but generally are much less concentrated) If you want to play around with your speedpaints a little more, I'd recommend giving "Slapchop" a try! It's a beginner-friendly technique where you prime your mini black and then do something that's called drybrushing in 2 steps: first, a dark grey and then a very light, almost white grey. You then apply your speedpaints over that and it looks 100 times better than when you just apply them over a light white-ish primer, which can look quite flat. There's loads of videos of this technique online!

painting miniatures is so much fun. If you want a tip, you need a water pallet. you can make one with paper towel and Tupperware. It helps the paint stay liquid longer. you take some of the paint and put it onto the pallet. Then a little water in a separate drop. pull some paint into the water and make like a skim milk consistency. This will help the paint not clump up and also get in the corners and small crevices. Most miniature and model paints you will need to do this. Makes the end result much better. Looks great though!
