Mongoose Jacket - www.revolutionrace.fi/miehet/...
This is my winter jacket of choice this year! Fantastic both in the city and in the countryside to keep you warm as a top layer. I really like that it is light-weight and portable (you can roll it up quite small to fit in a backpack for example.). It's also water resistant so if you're caught in some drizzle or snow - you're covered!
Slacker Hoody - www.revolutionrace.fi/miehet/...
Easily the most comfortable hoody I've ever owned. It's very soft and the "relaxed fit" gives it that extra comfort factor. Paired with the pants (below)... you'll never want to change out of them. Ever. You have been warned.
Slacker Pants - www.revolutionrace.fi/miehet/...
These sweat pants have been on my body every chance I get. They're very comfortable and also stylish looking (they taper slightly down to the ankle so they're not super baggy like a lot of sweat pants.), so whether you're in the city or at the cottage, these are great.

I am sorry your visit to Oulu was so unfortunate, hope that the next time you come here is a bit better!
@tuoppi42

You were quite close to worst light pollution of Oulu area - strong northern lights will shine past street lights, but typically they aren't that strong. What you got was a genuine Oulu experience; windy and cold. For best chance of luck, I think the approach will be timelapse camera and a comfortable cabin to sleep in. I managed to spot really strong northern lights just some time ago, and they didn't last for long - maybe 10 minutes or so. Strong ones are rare and you have to be lucky to be around watching the skies when they suddenly appear.

Dave starting geocaching: First cache I try to find is 3/3,5 😅 Dave they have ratings for reason! Maybe try first with something that has difficulty of 1 or 2 and terrain preferably max 2,5. At least if you haven't yet realized there are tags which tell if you need to climb a tree for example 😄 Nice though that you found the other one. I don't know what rating that was but good job spotting it anyway! You will learn over time and by finding caches the typical ways of how they are hidden but they can still stump you even when you have found hundreds of them 🙂

Great vid! I have 1200 finds on geocaching myself, here is a couple tips: Look at the atributes, there is usually a atribute about if you can find the cache in the winter. If you can, it has to be high up of the ground bc of the snow. Also the difficulty raiting and especially the terrain difficulty rating can help.
@NikonKanava

I love geocaching! With forest caches the problem is that the forest cover interferes with the GPS signal so it's harder to find them in the forests. I got 100 finds this year. I highly recommend checking geocaching out!

Omg!! You found my geocache Louhenholma 🤣🤣 I have adopted it from the original hider geo-pardy. It was placed originally 2015. And it used contain lots of dragon statues (Inc. Yoshi) but in time the dragons have left the cache... Thanks for the coin and good luck to find the other one. If it was named "Hawk's head" I did found it in 2012, my second year of geocaching and it was a handful for someone fearing heights... So it is in a challenging spot at the edge of cliffs.. regards from ansu75 🤣❤️

I grew up as one of four kids (big family these days) and we used to go camping. These "within 8 meters" geocaches, all you need is four outdoorsy teens to help, we would have been all over this. And can I recommend putting pencils in caches, they don't leak or run out, and can be sharpened enough to write with any sort of edge, even a rock.

I used to live in Oulu for many years and only managed to see aurora borealis literally twice during my time there and have not seen one since then. Oulu is probably not the best place to see it as the more north you go the more likely you are going catch it. I can however recommend "rajahaudan uimaranta" as one of very excellent place to go see it. No light pollution and it was first time I saw it in my life. Also many people taking pictures there. Best of luck with your hunt! Also geocaching is super fun, really looking forward to next summer to start!

I appreciate a ton that Dave's sponsorship deals are stuff that I know he uses himself. And the ads aren't too in your face. I definitely need to visit Nuuksio soon, been too long since the last time. Too bad the northern lights plan didn't work out. Hopefully you get to do that eventually, we need that video! But Oulu might not be the best for them, much too much light pollution and not quite north enough. All the best!

Nice video! You seem like a super humble guy! :) Hope you catch some auroras at some point! I've only witnessed them once during the winter in Seinäjoki but it was quite a 'watery' phenomenon that time, and I was in a populated area so probs light pollution a factor. 😶 Strong ones would be cool!

Oulu is pretty good place to check Auroras. You just need to be ready for it when they arrive. Good hours have been 21-01, but they can come and go fast. Sometimes they get really big, but usually just some green in the skyline. Nallikari is pretty good spot for them due the openness, but better spots (less city lights) are like Oulunsalon Lauttaranta, Koivukari, etc, but you usually need a car to access those better places. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SujEVMtxHQ4.html

Love the video. Nuuksio is always a good idea. For aurora the best places are Utsjoki and Kilpisjärvi, but that isn't easy logistically. Anything North of the Arctic circle and away from light pollution is good to start. But you need the weather to cooperate too. Increase your chances with a week's stay.... Always welcome to use our cabin!

Honestly, Oulu is not a great place to see the Northern Lights. I've lived here for 27 years and I've never seen anything other than a small green blotch in the sky. You can take the train all the way up to Rovaniemi where you might have more luck.

Fun Fact: Nuuksio is one of the surviving names for locales in Finland that's of Sami origin, proving that pretty much all of current Finland was inhabited by Sami before Finns emigrated there.
