My grandfather was into woodworking. He made a stool out of walnut and turned the wooden pieces. Then he use this technique and cord to make the top. I’m 61 years old. I remember it from my childhood. It is still solid.

I think it turned out great 👍🏻 I'm not surprised by the cats reaction. "You built me scratching furniture" 😸

I used to do square stools with this effect, only I never used the nails, I was taught to fully wrap cord above and below, and then to tie off the two ends

Chris Tribe’s last RU-vid videos before retirement are danish cord chair tutorials. Really fun project.

It looks like a pain to make, but that bench is so, so cool Chris! I mean just awesome! You did a great job, perfect or not. If you don't point it out I don't think anyone will notice. And it's just incredible what you are doing for St. Jude's Hospital! You are truly being a good servant. God bless you, my friend! 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤

2:40 Speaking as a former Boy Scout, a taut-line hitch is far better for this application than a truckers hitch.

@AGlimpseInside thanks for the lesson. You have far more patience than me my friend! I've worked with various strings over the years. I will point out that as you wrap with firm pressure...it's going to put pressure on the wood itself. Too much will make a weak structure snap...I've had it happen.

Cool project. Not sure if I would have the patients you did... I like the honesty about the learning process.

Yeah I feel like it would finally "click" and you'd get really good at it after about the 3rd project. At which point I've moved on mentally :) Whats better than seeing a project thru? a dozen or so unfinished ones sitting in the back of the shop.

They came out amazing! I know that would have taken a lot of patience. I made a small stool by weaving small rope back when I was a kid at summer camp. I never wanted to do that again 😂.

That is so cool! I’ve got a little stool frame sitting in my shop that I saved to eventually do something with. This might just be the perfect seat for it! Hopefully I can find a bit of extra time between all my other projects! I always enjoy your videos, Chris - thanks!

Good morning! It’s been a minute since I made any, but this reminded me of making potholders as a kid for Christmas one year!😂😂. My fingers were sore just doing that - I bet you were tired after all that weaving and stretching! How would you flat pack one of those????? Hope everyone is well. Happy Thanksgiving! Nice job, Chris. I made something similar, but smaller, many, many years ago and it’s taken me back. You can make things foolproof but, for me, can you make them idiot proof? 🌞

I'm curious about the comment that you don't have a jointer or planer in the shop anymore. Is that on purpose? Was it your intent to replace them with the CNC?

HI, I would love to get two of these, but my problem is that I live in the UK and my the time you add in postage it would be costing you money to send them, if after that you still make something let me know and I will bey them!
