@@itsjustnaima Preach 😆 I'm a lapsed Catholic and the most "rockin" music we have is a Polka band once a year. Nothing like tubas and accordions to hype you up. Lol
Michael Jackson truly was a Engel most beautiful human . Michael was and is innocent period he's my Engel thank you for supporting he's music love it we should continue putting he's music at all time to keeping his legacy alive
I’m not sure if someone already this, but man in the mirror was actually written by Siedah Garrett. She is also the woman in the song I just can’t stop loving you, but she wasn’t able to perform live with him during the bad tour so someone else did.
I may be wrong about this, but the reason for the mic cutoff was because that was actually when he was supposed to stop singing, but when he continued it threw the technicians off since they had to turn his mic back on. Again, I may be wrong about this. Either way, he still gave an absolutely SPECTACULARLY POWRFUL performance!!
MJ told all haters that he is "Unbreakable" "Now I'm just wondering Why you think that you can get to me with anything Seems like you'd know by now When and how I get down And with all that I've been through I'm still around Don't you ever make no mistake Baby, I've got what it takes And there's no way you'll ever get to me (come on) Why can't you see that you'll never ever hurt me? 'Cause I won't let it be, see I'm too much for you baby You can't believe it, you can't conceive it And you can't touch me, 'cause I'm untouchable And I know you hate it, and you can't take it You'll never break me, 'cause I'm unbreakable Now you can't stop me even thought you think That if you block me, you've done your thing And when you bury me underneath all your pain I'm steady laughing, while surfacing."
How can you entire album rule the charts with a iron fist and you don't win one Grammy but Taylor swift can breath on a microphone and win twenty of them there is a serious problem in this country for Sure for Sure .
Maybe his best live performance ever, in my opinion😳 The passion, the energy in that Man in the Mirror performance...he meant every single word in that song and you could cleraly see that. What a shame he is gone😕
OK. I'm a 69 year old woman, and I had to go to the chiropractor a few years ago and explain that I had thrown my neck out dancing along with Michael to The Way You Make Me Feel. I didn't feel stupid at all. Not a bit. And yes, this was indeed a live performance of Man in the Mirror. I've watched it about a thousand times. No doubt about it. I cried every day for 4 years after he died. This is MJ at his very best.
This performance never fails to give me goosebumps everytime I watch it. It's, in my opinion, the best Grammy performance ever. Nothing too crazy going on, he kept it simple. He went overtime on that Man In The Mirror performance, he was supposed to stop so they could go to ads. But he kept going. The King 👑🙌🏼
If you know the song Hold my hand by Akon, MJ loved that song so much he asked Akon if he could use it for his big comeback and surprise everyone but the song got leaked and mj scrapped it. its a beautiful song and MJ was working with will.i.am and Akon during the 2000s to I guess try to reinvent himself in the modern style and put his own flavour on to the new era.
@@Davesmusicreactions There isn't a solo version of Michael on it, but you can find filtered out versions of it with just MJ voice, but Akon and MJ together worked perfectly. I do believe if the song didn't get leaked, MJ would sing more on the song as MJ showed his brother the song and suggested Michael should feature more as his fans would want more of his voice. We were so unfortunate with Michael. Didn't get to see what he had in store for us during the 2000s.
Great reaction as always guys! I enjoy your stuff so much:) As mentioned below here, most if this performance was lip synced though. Michael's Mic is turned on at around 10:00 , right when you're noticing the audio problem (his mic volume was too low). What makes Michael such a good "lip syncer" though, is that he is indeed actually singing his heart out, his mic is just not on. So by actually sining and not miming, it looks a lot more authentic even though the pre recorded vocal track is played on top. According to Michael Prince, his producer and engineer of many years, Michael Jackson, for whatever reason, never wanted things to sound "live" he felt that it would be to cheat the audience of "the perfect" exceperience and always wanted his live performances to sound as close to his records as possible. This might be due to his Motown upbringing/education where everything was always perfected. Not taking anything away from him though, his vocals at the end was stunning and he absolutely could have sung the songs completely live if he had wanted to so this was not a matter of ability. This performace was also at the beginning of the US leg of his BAD world tour and he was performing in the Madison Square Garden the following night as well as two more back-to-back nights three days later, there he sang some of his greatest live vocals ever. Including these two songs completely live :) Thanks again for an awesome reaction!
Thanks for pointing that out. Michael states in his autobiography that he only lip-synched when he had laryngitis on tour. He always sang with the playback, whether or not the mic was on. He had an argument with the sound engineer at the Motown Special because they wanted him to lip-sync "Billie Jean" & MJ refused. So, they compromised - he could sing but the mic would be off. At some point, the sound engineer turned the mic back on, though. Michael had a very slight smirk on his face when he realised the mic was on. (I have watched that video a LOT.)
@@ozymandiaspbs yes he did sing with the playback. However, referring to a statement in "Moonwalk" is misleading as it was published in 1988 and most of Michael’s lip syncing occurred after that.
@@4evermichael88 - I will trust Michael on that. I have watched a lot of videos of him in concert & it looks like he is singing - with playback & completely live. He strikes me as the type of person who does what he says & means what he says.
@@ozymandiaspbs I agree, I believe he sings most of the time behind the pre-recorded track. like we both said, That’s probably because it looks so good:) I thinkYou misread my comment tho, my point wasn’t that Michael was lying, my point was the the statement you were referring too was made in a book published in February 1988, so it would be impossible for Michael to comment on his live performances after that point in time as they hadn’t happened yet:) And as you know, it’s common knowledge that Michael’s reliance on lip-syncing began around that point and only increased as the years went on:)
could you do some of his “This Is It” rehearsals to see how the King still had it in his final days. I recommend his Bille Jean or I Just Can’t Stop Loving You rehearsals.
Hello please can you react to Michael Jackson black and white live reaction I love it ❤️❤️❤️ Like they say Legend never dies 🙌🙌👑🤗🤗 Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Love this performance and your reactions ‼️. The absolute magical performance of this song was in Bucharest in 1992. I have never seen better🎶👏👏. Also you could get clips of "This is It" and get an idea of how great that show would have been. Thanks for more MJ to start my day🦋✌️
I couldn’t believe that he didn’t win ANY Grammys that night. Every award he was nominated for his face got sadder and sadder. And it blows my mind considering how huge BAD (album) was at the time.
Every time the camera panned to him, we could see the sadness & I felt so awful for him. He deserved better. At least we have this awe-inspiring performance of "Man in the Mirror" that even Prince enjoyed.
Thank you for reacting to this! Man in the Mirror is definitely my favorite MJ song. He was lipsyncing though, except for those last few minutes of him adlibbing. That mic cut-off/problem around 10:00, that’s when he started singing live. Nevertheless he poured his heart out here through the whole performance and that’s what I really love. Great reaction and commentary! Would love to see more MJ/J5/The Jacksons stuff if you’re willing..
The mic cut definitely threw me off lol. Was great to see so much passion in his performance though! We have got some J5 & The Jacksons stuff downloaded ready to react to. Just gotta get round to it :) We'll get there though -Dave
Fun Fact: This performance was on the Thursday prior to his opening weekend at Madison Square garden so it’s most likely that his use of playback was due to him being on vocal-rest and the physical demands of the TWYMMF performance. Also, I think MJ wanted a more “studio-like” vocal for the national TV audience (I’ve always wondered if the audio glitch was heard in the auditorium as well or was it strictly due to the broadcast engineer missing a cue). Whatever the reasons, that transition has puzzled many “reactors” to this video 🤔.
Yeah there’s quite a few performances over the years where you can tell it’s a backing track but regardless if he was miming for some of the track you know the only reason for it was to save some of his voice for the parts where he had to give everything for the performance, the man was a genius cos with a first listen you would never know it was mimed but you don’t care cos it’s Michael Jackson! 😂
@@DarthSherm94 - MJ always sang along with the playback. You can tell, looking at his neck; you can see his carotid artery popping out - because he is singing. He may not be singing full-power but he is singing along with the playback. He always did that, except for when he had laryngitis on one of the tours. (He talks about singing with playback in his autobiography.)
@@Davesmusicreactions Having been a fan for 30 years, and thankfully a decade of that spent going to see him wherever I could in person, I’ve seen these performances hundreds and hundreds of times so seeing others experiencing them for the first time gives me that feeling of back when I first became a fan and the excitement of watching him in disbelief about what his talent and soul was capable of. Thanks for the fab reactions! Some MJ suggestions: MTV 10th Anniversary - it’s beautiful😢 You Were There Elizabeth, I Love You Who’s Loving You (Ed Sullivan Show) Midnight Special We’ve Had Enough (not a video or performance but there is a good lyric video for it and the song is beyond worth it!!) The Jacksons medley from 30th Anniversary Super Bowl Half Time Show WMAs 1996 Earth Song Wetten Dass Brits ‘96 Remember The Time live - he’d injured his ankle so had to perform it SAT DOWN! And was bursting to get out of the chair the whole time! Gutting cos it’s the only time he ever performed it😭😭 And it would be epic to see you journey through the whole of Michael’s tours: Destiny / Triumph / Victory / Bad / Dangerous / HIStory
"Do you know where your children are?" is a very great song to react to in my opinion ❤❤❤ it was written by MJ & it really showcases where his mind and heart was when it came to protecting the children of the world. SO UNDERRATED
He nailed Who's loving You on ed Sullivan at age 8. He nailed this performance as well.. I think over all this is his best !!!!!!!!!! We knew he'd be a big star !!!!!
You damn right they screwed him that night and he still gave them the best performance they or their children or grand children will ever see in their lives .I'm pissed all over again like it's 1988 again
It's funny these guys think MJ is singing "live".. when it can clearly be seen/heard when that mic lowers down in front of MJ it gets turned on. That's when he's LIVE!!!
Listen to the Invincible album and you will see the direction Michael was going. It is one of his best albums but Sony didn't promote it because Michael wouldn't go on tour. Unbreakable is amazing.
Mágico, siempre fue y será mágico pero se marchó demasiado pronto al igual que Prince 😭 se les echa tanto de menos, gracias por reaccionar a estas canciones, muchas gracias ❤️❤️
