You might know the term "The Big 4" (of trash metal). Ensiferum is one of "The Big 5" (of Finnish folk metal). Others are Moonsorrow, Turisas, Finntroll and Korpiklaani. All worth checking out.
Surprisingly good, i enjoyed it! The growls made sense, and i could understand them. The clean was superb, the music was excellent. Really liked it, i could hear more.. ❤ and ✌️

Ensiferum has been one of my favorite bands since highschool, everytime i throw their songs on I get such a rush of wild energy. Hope you dive deeper they are awesome!
Yesss dude, I was actually thinking about mentioning these guys yesterday! There are so many good picks you could go with from this band: Two of Spades, Wanderer, Victory Songs, Lai Lai Hei, In My Sword I Trust, and the list goes on.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody And there are some interesting connections. Jari Mäenpää from Wintersun was Ensiferum`s first singer. He played also guitar in Ensiferum. Jari was in Ensiferum with their first two albums. This suggested song Lai Lai Hei for example is Jari singing originally. They fired Jari, because he had started his "sideproject" Wintersun and it conflicted with their schedules or something like that. Current Ensiferum`s harsh vocals singer, Petri Lindroos was in Norther earlier. When Jari had left Ensiferum, Petri went to Ensiferum. Norther with Petri Lindroos is definitely worth checking out too. But the band was discontinued 2012. Lots of fans have been hoping Northers new coming (with Petri singing). And, Jukka Koskinen, now bassist of Nigthwish and bassist of Wintersun. was earlier in Norther too. Dude, great song to start off your Ensiferum journey. When I first heard this band, the album Victory Songs was on heavy rotation on my phone at work, I got some stuff done fast!
@ZerilathImmortal thats my favorite off of their first album as well. Those first two albums are classics. Their version of Battery is the best Metallica cover I've ever heard.
Yay you got around to it. I do like this version of the band, but the first 3 albums I think are even better. They really don't make a bad song whatever version of the band you get.

It honestly blew my mind, it's mostly a one man project and he has schizophrenia and depression so doesn't play live but his music is just incredible.

@punkjay4681 agreed. They were more the band my group would throw on during a party. Good drinking music. Great live show. Windir, Eluveitie, and Thryfing also deserve a mention. Not really "folk metal" per se but Kalmah as well. They've always put out killer stuff
