@@CompelledUsername How , none of these collabs make any sense . It cheapens Swatch and there sister brands . Like shoulder pads or big hair the future will be thinking wtf ?
They have the Brequet Type XXII which is a flyback chrono sports watch. But its $20k and has little name recognition to your average person on the street...lovely watch though.
@@julienfroidevaux1143you could say the same thing about a lot of Haute horology watchmakers. They need a hit. One dependable seller to bring in the punters.
When you price a watch for 18k MSRP and a year later or less the watch is 10k or less that will destroy your name and brand. Many of these luxury brands management teams need to smell the roses of reality. They need to price their watches to compete with the current market and their rivals. Take a page out of Tudor and Longines both are priced correctly. Price your entry level under 10k to get younger buyers in the door. Also Zenith, Hanhart, Breitling, Mathew Tissot have more affordable type XX options.
Your point doesn't makes sense. As per your comment, 18K breguet should be around 30-40k. You get a ton of value just only because nobody knows breguet. You want breguet to stepdown ? No. It reminds me of a dialogue from batman.
@@athit673 When a Type XX priced at 18k MSRP and a year later or less the watch is valued at 10k or less is it really worth 18k? As much as companies want to put value on their merch. If the street price is 10k below that's what is worth so go back to the drawing board as a "Business" and price your items correctly. Believe me people are choosing RMs, Rolexes, APs and probably Hublots over Breguet. So yes they need to step down or change their strategy. To a more entry level. I think many of these watch companies are getting high on their own supply. While getting smacked around by microbrands.
@@phoenix5054 I don't deny their heritage at all I rather have Breguet over AP. My beef is marketing and pricing. You can't just price yourself high tier when your products are selling mid tier on the grey market. I just think with many watch companies like IWC, Breguet, etc. like who's coming out with these pricing structures? no one is gonna buy them for MSRP.
So you're saying breguet should price their value according to what dimwits want? who see watches as investments? they can sell watches at whatever prices they want to and we buy them because we like horology and craftsmanship lol
I have realised recently that my favourite watch brands at the moment are from the Swatch Group. Glashutte Orginal, Blancpain, Breguet, Omega and Longines. I used to own All the tudors and usual suspects from Rolex but have sold them all. The Tudors are too slab sided and boring and the Rolex do not feel special enough for the price.
Again, I'm of two minds about this: my first thought is "let Breguet be Breguet", but right after that...what does that mean, here-and-now? Sometimes I think Andrew's stance is a tad aggressive, but here I think he has a point. The last thing I'd want to see is the brand led by the nose in the name of shaking things up, but a lower-voltage jolt to the vitals could help.
I absolutely live this Brand and well Like Rolex they make small changes to their watches and well its also the upper echelon of watch collecting leaving it to those with a more fine eye. I say this and yes I cant afford it
Anyone bought up by Swatch Group can’t make it on their own. The quartz crisis was the first major shakeup, to see who had business strength when somebody moved the cheese. But now, a lot of watchmakers are kept around like the way people hoard watches that they don’t care about but can’t bear to let go. I don’t hate Breguet but a business isn’t powered by sentimentality alone.
They ruined the new Type XX/20 release with that hideous date placement then wonder why the brand is an afterthought!! 🤦♂️🤦♂️ Re-do without that date and I’ll buy it!!!
Nailed it! I was in Los Angeles this past spring and actually saw a Breguet billboard. I was stunned. I never hear anything about the brand (outside of watch geek circles). That poor brand is so neglected.
I'm not sure Breguet should change. Breguet is for real appreciators of horology just like Blancpain. It is for connaissoir. It is not for the Rolex, AP and Patek. It is not for Wahlberg and those other watches hoarders just for the brag.
Breguet is NOT a French brand ... If I were Abraham Breguet I would feel offended by this statement ... Abraham Breguet was born on January 10th, 1747, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland !! Let's not falsify the history ...
The biggest problem with Breguet is pricing. If they sold their pilot's watches according what their market value is, they would sell many more watches. But instead they price these watches at double what a visually similar Breitling watch sells for - and Breitling in today's world has more name recognition. Very few people care about what a watchmaker did hundreds of years ago, nor do they want to pay a massive premium for that.
This is accurate, all those Breguet fanboys don’t understand reality. I wanted a Breguet tradition for a long time and will gladly pay msrp, but it will lose 40% value before my signature is even dry on the cc receipt, who the hell wants that, so I been stuck in this limbo for a while now, may end up just getting a zenith + rolex and call it a day. All you guys can keep saying value doesn’t matter etc..real collector will just enjoy the watch and all that bs…but value does matter…especially at this price level, it’s reality. Rolex sells well because it retains its value, omega does well because it’s much cheaper and the loss at most is only few thousand $ after many years. With a Breguet tradition you are down 15k at minimum the second you sign the credit card receipt. They really need to rethink how to market their watches. Their $40k traditions should be priced at 20-25k, and further limit the quantity, to ensure a healthy grey market price.
@@almac9203you’re mischaracterizing what I said, but the market sets the value. If you buy a Breguet and try to sell it 6 months later in mint condition, you’ll be lucky to get 60% of your money back. Objectively, Breguet is overpriced according to the market. All the copium on the world won’t change that.
Those watches are only for the richt. Normal people dont have a reason to look at this brand. The wealthy ones have AP, AL&S, Patek, etc. Maybe there is no reason to look at this brand?
you only have the guys you buy watches to blame dont cry to us watch flippers and sheep marketing mentality made people to have the idiocy to not being able to see anything other than toilex
Breguet languishing as a brand is really a slippery assessment. Comparatively to the screaming out loud marketing saturators sure. I would argue that one day this will backfire and that “luxury” watch brands will be those enigmatic stalwarts who refuse to sell their arse on every corner like a cheap hooker. The reign of manufacturers successfully telling consumers what luxury is has a shelf life to me, and these brands are then also subject to outlier scrutiny of sales falls and rises. Whereas a more stably albeit static brand such a Breguet will continue to define luxury by its actions and inactions. I admire brands that don’t play the fatiguing hype game. Well done is always better than well said imo ✌️
Breguet? it's literally why you're able to wear some of the pieces you wear 😂. They invented so many components that gave way to the components that your modern pieces now use. lol. What a 🤡 statement.
