TBrizzle01 If they can shore up that middle infield, they might have something next year. That's the only real weakness they have right now. Mercer and JHay are just terrible this year. If that gets fixed, they could end up having one of the better offenses in the league and one of the better pitching staffs with a starting rotation that includes Taillon, Archer, Musgrove, and eventually Mitch Keller. And a bullpen that includes Vazquez, Crick, and Kela. There's some pretty nice talent on this team right now. The front office just needs to build on that

They lost in the playoffs to the team they had fought all season to overtake (and managed to, only to squander it at the end of the season) in a series that arguably deserved to go seven games even though the Bruins' D suffered massive injuries for the second straight year. And for the second straight year, they were knocked out by the team that lost to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions in seven games, and for the second straight year those eventual champions had a much easier path to the finals. It's fair to say the Bruins are contenders after their quick and impressive retooling. If the Leafs win a playoff series next year, it'll be their first in 15 years, they have a lot to prove before you can disregard the Bruins (who really should've swept or beaten them in 5 games, after which they'd have had an easier time with Tampa and may well have taken on the Caps, whom they tend to match up terribly against).

Yeah, catcher depth is why they're bad this year. The Nats are bad this year because Harper is underperforming, besides Scherzer they have no reliable pitcher, and their bats are inconsistent. One day they score 50 and the next they score 2 runs in one series.
