This Week in Sportsball: NFL Week Eighteen Edition (2023) 

Vrabel, Carrol, and Nick Saban getting fired or retiring in the span of two days has been one of the most chaotic weeks of coaching news I’ve ever seen in football.

The worst part of this episode is that it’s the last one of the NFL season.

The Derek Henry scene was pure gold. Such grace for King Henry.

This was a season. There were the good teams (maybe two or three of them), the meh teams, the bad teams, and the Panthers.

The final “I’m calling both games!” until the beginning of next season’s Sportsball. Hopefully Tree doesn’t forget to include it in the first week again💀

I legit cried when you started talking about Derrick Henry. I hope wherever he goes, they treat him like the juggernaut that he is. Get this man a ring!

There should be a channel award for "Quote of the Year". I feel like there are always a handful of gems that coaches and players drop every year that get memed on. These quotes deserve their recognition!

Pete Carroll being gone as head coach hit me really hard. Seattle was such a sorry franchise before him. I grew up with my dad telling me about how much the used to Raiders shit on us back in the day and watched them lose the Superbowl in 2008. Coach Carroll completely changed Seattle sports and the spirit of the city to a winning culture.

30:22 I was one of those Hawks fans wanting the club to revamp the coaching the system for 2024 but the Pete Carroll news from earlier today still shook me. Regardless of what anyone says, Pete is a coaching legend in the Emerald City and he honestly deserves a spot in Canton one day. Thank you for your 14 years of coaching services, Pete Carroll.

In two slight bits of "extracurricular LOL" this week both thanks to Jacksonville: 1) The implosion of Shad's team is on par with his son's AEW booking. 2) in local news (and probably close enough to reach UTree himself), a fairly big story was how Browns fans had to essentially re-plan premade playoff logistics as it was assumed the Jags would have won ONE more game and Cleveland would meet Jacksonville. Jacksonville had even been advertising to THEIR fans how they had playoff tickets for sale for a few weeks now. Now, they don't have shit, and a lot of folks from NE Ohio scrambling to redirect their gameday vacations from Florida to Texas. What I'm saying is, the Jaguars disappointed TWO different fanbases. That's saying something.

I can't believe we've reached the end of Sportsball for the NFL. It feels like only a week ago it got started, but now we're in the playoff round. I'm gonna miss this weekly series.

If there's one silver lining to being eliminated from playoff contention, it's that Tree set it to a scene from The Mummy, one of my favorite movies.

Last year, when Vrabel won the power struggle with previous Titans GM, you were the only one calling out him for being way too power hungry. You nailed it at that time and time is telling it now! Really appreciate you for showing such an insight towards a team that is very often overlooked beyond a radius of 5 miles away from Nashville!

Tank Division chaos. Jags collapse. Bills ascend against the odds. The gutsy firings. Watson Bowl. Stafford Bowl. Hill Bowl. Rodgers Memories Bowl. What a way to end this glorious series on this season!

Thanks for the memories Coach Pete! Made Seattle a winner and I loved his enthusiasm. I'll always remember him making the Hawks fun to watch, not only for the negative like super bowl 49 or always losing to the Rams Had to be time to move on though and I'm excited for the future I think there is a promising core on this team that could compete under a new leader.

I’m so glad you understand the decision to move on from Vrabel, it’s crazy how you know more than most espn commentators on why Vrabel was fired. He is a classic football guy, but he despises change and different opinions. He wants to run the titans organization with his friends and doesn’t make decisions that are good for this team but good for the people he likes. People saying otherwise have not really been paying close attention to him or this team.

From the medieval 2 total war assainations to the LOTR speech for King Henry, this was gold tree. PURE GOLD!
