Caught my first fish on a jerkbait last week. It was a crappie but I was still pretty excited. Then a romp of otters swam out from under the bridge I was fishing and chased me off 😂
to me 6th sense has some good rods I have used both the lux & the mfer's rod I personally like mfer's rod. I always use 7' or 7"2 med hvy just so cause I am 1 rod kinda guy. tight lines.
I see that you had a Perch colored jerk bait. I got one in that color and have yet to hook up with it. I'm wondering, do Perch "die off" in the cold water and do Perch actually twitch like a dying shad or minnow? Did I get the wrong color??
For the most part I can verify that. I just don't seem to be able to work the bait the way it needs to be worked from the bank. Some days when the bass are aggressive, it works better.
While Jerk baits seem to be a productive lure, I refer to it as a “boat only” lure. It does not produce for me at all from the bank. I’m sure there is some user error, but several of my friends have the same issue from the bank. I have a jerkbait tied on, but it’s just not productive enough or give me confidence that using it will make it worth using from the bank. It’s my Kryptonite lure!!
Try getting out on/near a point and casting back into the cove on the deep water side of cover. Ur retrieves take a different angle than boat casts and theres no boat around… i think thats why the bank can be more productive at times

I've been working on building my confidence in jerkbaits both from the bank as well as my kayak. The coolest thing I've noticed is when the bass hit it they seem to really hit hard. Its a lot of fun to use when it works.
Great informative video as always, thank you! I am moving toward a softer rod for jerkbaiting next season, but I'm worrird about losing casting distsnce after neing able to launch baits with a longer stiffer rod all these years. What reel and lone are you using?
Oh that's BS forward facing sonar that's not fishing I've been fishing for years that's not fishing that's video games throw that away let's see what kind of fishermen these people are that has this forward facing sonar that's not even good for a Fisheries doesn't give our fish anytime to have a break to fix it you don't usually use forward facing sonar usually have a break with this they don't have no break
Been competitively bass fishing since I was 15 years old. Only had FFS for a year and I’m 34. I can catch fish without it when need be but I also really like what it teaches me about fish behavior.
