Our roadside stand is getting a HUGE makeover! Not only will this be great for our egg sales, it will give us more fridge space and free time, because we wont have to store eggs in our refrigerator and we wont have to schedule time for egg pickups anymore. Mitza Creek Farm is a small, diversified farm/homestead located in Northern Wisconsin (zone 3B). Even though I have no agriculture experience prior to purchasing our property in 2016, I am working hard to heal our land regeneratively, using our grass-fed cows, sheep and pastured poultry. I grow produce, pumpkins & squash, mums/fall flowers and Christmas trees, plus often DIY projects around our farm. Follow along with me as I work in my high tunnel, with our animals, and dig in the dirt.

Looks great! I thought of doing that as we use to sell strawberries at home. With this drought I was hoping to get enough to preserve and since irrigation and rain the garden is exploding! 😂I thought I had a pumpkin on a tomato as it is Huge! I see you have puddles in your driveway so you must have had some rain. After I had installed irrigation on the 11th it started raining on the 12th😂. Friday nights storm came in Very Loud! Loudest I ever heard and they say it was only wind, but I’ve had a couple tornadoes fly overhead in my life and that’s what it sounded like. We will never know as the local weather was having difficulty with computers updating and communicating. I thought is it just me that was frustrated with this-nope another reported the same that they were confused with the info. They kept concentrating on areas I don’t even think could view our local channels. So the damage wasn’t too bad. Wind flattened taller plants and cucumber trellis. I run rows N-S so some had support. We went out at midnight and got the plants back up as time is of the essence. We had 1-1/4” of rain and it wasn’t even wet under mulch in some areas. All looked good except a neighbor lost a shed. No trees snapped so was thankful. We really had no warning and when I seen the maple I’ve got a story about whip my heart sank. It was leaning a little, but didn’t snap. That Blaze maple came up from a sucker after the original got frost cracked and tipped over and it was at least 20’ and looking gorgeous. For some reason that tree loves it here and I’m amazed at its vigor and already surpassed another maple variety in height that Was much taller. Nothing else takes off here like that tree and can’t wait to see the beautiful color this year although I can wait for the cold😊. Just feel I won’t get to enjoy some flowers I’ve been waiting on and the sweet peppers always run out of time when they are looking great-Sigh. I will try and tunnel them this year. It’s been such a struggle this year with all the troubles that come with extreme drought. My past experience is we get the warning AFTER the storm/tornado hits. 🙄. So glad No Hail as there was some with softball hail. Hope people are lining up at your stand and placing orders 🎉🙏🎉
