I loved the effect you got on your protective paper used when rolling with your Breyer. It ended up looking like a piece of expensive abstract art. Hope you framed it.
Another fun way to use embossing folders with the gel press: use your embossing folder to embossing a panel of paper. Then roll paint(or ink) onto you gel plate. Use the embossed paper to lift some of the color off your plate, the. Pull the print. You get cool texture for your gel print, PLUS you get some cool color in your embossed panel! I've only done it one time (one printing session), but I got some awesome results
Love these ideas Laura!! I never thought of making my own colored paper! I have about 20+ embossing folders! 🤦🏽♀️ Have to get them out! 😍 Love the gold paper and triangle embossing!
I just love that they are the first to come out with foam pads. They are juicy and the color line is fantastic. I have never found a need to look for other ink lines because I am more than happy with Catherine Pooler inks!
Wonderful ideas! I have so many embossing folders that I rarely use, so I will definitely give these ideas a try. Little tip- when using a spray on the gel plate, if you put down a thin layer of matte medium first, the spay won’t bead up & you’ll get a good print from it. Versamark can also help with that, too. Same if you’re using reinkers on the gel plate- matte medium or Versamark first will give you a better result.
Omg just found your channel and I LOVE your jokes and personality! The other craft channels always tout all the expensive dies and stamps of the companies they use or get freebies from but you use what you have. I subscribed and can't wait to see your other videos. Loved the gel plate gold cards!
Great video! This old dog learned some new tricks! Love your philosophy of using what you have, so tired of seeing new products all the time. Your cards turned out beautifully! Thank you for the awesome inspiration!
Dolphins in the sea.... Wash ashore dear smile. let me enjoy your laughter. let me wish upon a star and the happily ever after... Reflections in the water. reflections of dolphins swimming. Reflections of yesterday only bring new days and beginnings... Let the sunset shine a beautiful smile for you and me.... As we watch the waves of love created by: Dolphins in the sea.......... This video was great fun Laurel…And seeing you was nice, since I have loved your videos with never seeing you, but this was great…I have loved your sayings and I think I am going to call them Laurelings…Badda bing Badda boom…Or something like that. Lol
Thank you for your reply. I wish I knew what I have done wrong. My plates are so scared, the paper sticks in the cuts. The cuts make marks in my card stock. Amazon used to sell them, no more. I ordered some brand that said they were replacements for Cuttlebug plates, returned them they were not the right thickness and did not work at all. Darn....I love my Cuttlebug.
Am I the only person who's cut open an aluminum drink can & run it through the embossing plate? I have better luck with a pie tin, just the flat portion. The curl in the drink can can be a bit stubborn
I have a gel press that I need to play with. Planning on just using inks, but I loved the gold cardstock! Great idea for the double embossing, using a 3D image on top of the smaller "background" embossing! Bada-bing, bada-boom! Great video!
Hi Laurel! I hope you can help me, I also have a cuttlebug but I bought it used and it was missing plates, do you know where I can find out the measurements for the plates and then I can look around online to see if I can find the right thicknesses, thanks for making this video
This is way fun.. I am so much like your style. If the goods still work, why fix what is not broken. Use ,make due, reuse and recycle.. or what ever that saying is.
I loved all of them.... including the coronavirus one - that made me laugh. I hope you kept it and will do something with it. My biggest oopsy pull eventually turned out to be my most stunning (hint: gold and a complementary paint)
Oh my goodness! I've never heard of or thought to do double embossing. The "instant replay" cracked me up. Ooohhh and you brought in gel press printing. Be careful it's so addictive but massively fun. Drop, roll and pull. But how do you keep your plates so clean! Mine are always a mess. You're amazing!
Can you show embossing with a defuser. I really like just a square in the center of the cardstock. Also, I just broke my Cuttlebug, but found the same one on Offerup (it's the one you are using). So happy again. The suction to my counter cannot be beat!
Hi Laurel. Thanks for sharing such fantastic techniques with embossing folders. I loved how they turned out. I always enjoy your videos. I love your sense of humour. And then badabing badaboom this video was finished. Have a fabulous weekend. 💚🤗
I love that your using your "real" machine and not a stunt machine with pristine plates. Thank you for helping to perpetuate realistic craft expectations!
Wow love these ideas!! I love ur approach to everything! No stress!! Now curious why do u choose Catherine Pooler Inks? Thanks ! U alway uplift my day!
Thanks so much! I tried her inks when they first released years ago. They were the first company to come out with inks on a foam pad and I fell in love. I love all the colors and just never felt the need to try anything else as I am so happy with CP inks!
HAHAH, sorry! Do you have any stencils? You can emboss with stencils 2 likely using the same sandwich. That's on my video to do list. Ways to use stencils
Pretty cards!! I had forgotten all about double Dry Embossing, & I did it often 100 it so years ago lol love that folder with the tiny bubbles & stars! Don't suppose it's still being sold, but could you tell me the name so I can query Mr Google please
These are still the original plates so I haven't had to replace, but I hear they are discontinued. Several viewers have commented they found replacement plates on ebay!
I just retired January 31st and I'm discovering many many things and people on RU-vid. Let me just say this, besides the volume of info I get from you, I just love you. You crack me up.... You Tube Influences not only have to pass on info but they also have to be easy to listen to and you, my dear, are one of them. Keep on keepin on! ♥
That one is soooo old so I have no idea. It might have been made by cuttlebug or sizzix but I am sure if you search dotted embossing folders you will find one similar. :)
I'm not sure. I don't have Cricket Plates. The gel plate is squishy but I say try it. Worse case, you wipe off the paint from your plate to clean it! :)
This is again a great video, you give me so many ideas to use the stuff that I have in a way I never would've thought of. And I love your humour, you always make me laugh. Thank you so much for all the video's you make. Oh, and I HAVE to get that Altenew washi tape, it's so beautiful. Now to find a shop in the Netherlands that sells it..
Hi, I was just at Michael's and tried to buy an embossing folder. I was surprised to find that the staff had no idea what I was talking about. We also couldn't find any inside the store! Where can I buy one?
You can also adhere the top layer of a paper napkin before embossing. Apply glue stick to entire cardstock base then press onto the backside of the napkin and brayer to adhere.
Laurel, this is amazing! I have so many embossing folders that I love, but have not really expanded their use, except I do love using them on my gel plate like a stamp. But this video truly inspired me to try more techniques (never would have occurred to me to double emboss - what?!), plus the tip for making your own card stock - just loved the 2 for gold!! Thanks so much for sharing these with us.
