This Will Help You Dominate In Doubles (Win More Tennis Matches)
1. When your partner hit the return past the net player, move forward and attack
2. If hitting an outside ground stroke, pinch the middle
3. If hitting an inside ground stroke, stay in the middle of your side of the court

To put a finer point on the outside ground stroke/poaching decision, an outside ground stroke that is struck from inside the singles sideline is even more likely to be pulled cross court because the body position in that situation does not lend itself to changing direction.

This is amazing analysis for recreational players like us! Thanks Ryan! Much appreciated!

I was skeptical after seeing this clip for the first time, but once again, Ryan delivered! Good info! I have heard the advice (from a High School coach) that the returner's partner should stand near the "T" at the beginning of the point. Perhaps psychologically, this may force the server to not serve up the middle. Maybe this strategy is better on the Ad side where it would help the returner to step right a little and get a better chance at a forehand (for a righty)? Let me know what you think.

Hey Ryan - what if this was a deuce point and the return went back to his forehand, are probabilities of that returning down the line or cross equal or is it still favoured to going cross court? Thanks!

Maybe not as high as the BH, but it’s still much more likely cc. So the same rule applies. You have to be a bit more careful on their FH bc if they’re inside the baseline the chances of them hitting dtl increase. But if they’re behind the baseline you can do exactly what happened in this video. Thanks!!

that return landed near the base line. How could the net man possibly have gotten it?@@2MinuteTennis
